Personally, I only play poker as a hobby, it wouldn't be difficult if I had to stay away from poker.
Now, when the person can't stay without playing, and stops doing other activities because of poker, I think it's better to seek help, so that this situation doesn't get worse.

Yes, of course... like any other game... if you're not careful it can become an addiction... that's why it's very important to be disciplined when you play and never compromise your household money

Surely it is an addiction, but this is who can control it, that is in each one!

Any game for money can lead to addiction and big problems in your life. There are many famous poker players who have become addicted to the game and lost the millions they have earned throughout their careers. You need to play according to your bankroll so as not to lose all your money at once. When you lose a certain part of your bank, it is best to close the game and do other things, but in no case do not continue playing to get back the money you lost, because then you will lose everything. This is a very serious disease that requires the intervention of qualified doctors. Therefore, you need to learn to manage your emotions and be disciplined.

Of course, poker can become an addiction. And an even bigger problem is that not every person who has any kind of addiction realizes that he is addicted. The main thing is that your poker does not interfere with others, not financially, not morally.

Of course it can .. I once got into an interesting talk with a true rounder in a local card room.
He used any winnings to pay bills and established himself quite nicely .
He told me over the last 7 years he borrowed a guy half a million euros in total to play cash.
Guess what the debts were just raising and this guy lost everything .
So yes Poker can be very addictive.
Addicted to chance

You must have a balance when it comes to betting, you just have to invest what is necessary and not go overboard, since you can be left with nothing with addiction.

those who say that poker cannot become an addiction are like people who smoke and say they will quit at any moment))

Like other members already said- it's about discipline- everything in life can develop 'addiction', so it's up to each individual to pay attention and control things that can deviate from 'normal' and fix the problems as soon as possible(it helps to have people to talk about it...); about poker specifically, IMO it's important nowadays to work on 2 things to have chances to be successful(IMO even as a recreational you need to work on this aspects of the game): the mental poker game(so you can control your emotions and this way the experience at the table will be better) and a decent bankroll management- do this 2 well and you won't get addicted to poker, won't have mental issues because of the results at the poker tables and you will play the game for a long time- hopefully with great results...

Happy New Year everyone!

What do you think you can do to don’t make it a bad habit?
It's all going to depend on the person, in my case, when I'm just losing, I stop really fast, but when I'm winning, I play up to 8 hours straight or more. I'm not addicted, I can live quietly without Poker

everything can become an addiction. A tip would be to control your mind, and whenever you feel aggrieved or deprived in some way, reflect on and put your priorities in order.

I think with any game where you can win or lose money, an addiction can be triggered.

Definitely poker can be an addiction as casino games and sports bets. I think to maintain poker as a healthy hobby we need to know our limits. My advice are to never play poker with money that you can't afford to lose, have others hobbies besides poker and don't use poker as an escape to other problems, like anxiety or depression.

Poker can be an addiction like any other game of chance, I have a friend who cannot help but play, he has invested so much time and effort into poker, so poker is not just a game for him, but a way of life.

I'm not addicted, though I did try to buy Phil Helmuth's soiled underpants on Onlyfans.

If I'm being honest...I don't think it was really him.

Poker can become an addiction and there is an example where a person actually lost a lot of money that was not their own. I think even now he will not understand that it was his big problem that it was an addiction. Poker is entertainment, the main thing you need to understand for yourself.

What do you think you can do to don’t make it a bad habit?
The first thing that every player can do is to play only with the money that he can afford to spend. The second is to be disciplined and responsible. And third, always be patient. Poker isn't easy money, but it sure is great fun.
