Argh.... I don't understand why I'm UNABLE to follow bankroll management. Every time I get hit hard with like 4 bad beats in a row, I fall into tilt, buy into the biggest table I can get into, and lose all my playmoney. It's soo frustrating. Why do people do this? Not enough will power?

That's part of it, yes.

The lure of getting unstuck in one or two hands can be strong.

But you also have to understand why BRM is so essential to a good game before you even have a snowflakes chance of practicing it IMO.

Do you?

I wonder if this one might... I can't tell yet.
http://fpdb.sourceforge.net/

But why on earth are you gonna play with playchips? If you are trying to learn stud your bankroll will sustain a lot of play at 04/08 :)

he's playing some dude heads-up for 10k hands for videos/a sidebet (or something) and doesn't wanna pay rake

I just saw the transfer. Thanks so much! New challenge: the road to 10 million real dollars?

We'll see how 2 NL goes, I may end up back in this challenge if a couple flips don't go my way :p

the monies are conditional - you must give updates or i will come to your house and steal it back or something.

not such a happy graph. after a couple bad beats and losing with the 2nd nuts, the 5$ is history. I'm not going to blame it all on luck - I did get my money in bad once and I still have a steal% which is probably too high. Another thing I noticed is that I bet the turn too often after I C-Bet. Well hopefully I've learned something, and its unfortunate that it had to end so soon.

If you're looking for a slight advantage on making play chips you should sign up for the pokerstars test software... any chips you win on the test site they will transfer to your regular account at a 2:1 transfer rate... the site is http://www.testpokerstars.com I think

Imo you were incurring far too many all-ins at that level to even have a chance at making it a decent BR. I suppose you could argue that you have to take your chances but with a small bankroll, which is probably less than $10, you should be buying in for the min. Especially when you risk it with all those all-ins. I'm sure you realize it now that there is a difference between play money and the smallest micros. All-in = coinflip = death. Better luck next time. :)

At most 02nl tables stealing is a bit of a sophisticated play. :)

Next time try playing extremely passively pre flop, limp as much as possible, and nut peddle. Avoid contested pots when you are not EXTREMELY strong.

After getting bored with the low limit cash games, I have moved to sit n go's which are more spread out (i.e. there are more buyin levels). I have been greatly successful and have dominated everything from 6 to 27 person ones.

Bankroll is currently at 151,515 chips.

good luck to you. but if i were you i would do this at fulltilt. there they have a $40 freeroll w/a 500k playchip buyin. the top 18 get paid and it gets around 60 players on average. the payout is very flat $5 for 1st $3 for 2nd and 3rd-18th get $2. so 90% of the prize money is out when ITM. i got to around 7m chips and w/this tourney as well as others i've built a BR of $45 enough now to dabble in 2nl. just a thought before you get too far at pokerstars. again good luck.

Pretty graph

Well I took your advice Cardplayer, and I've had a lot of success on full tilt.

I have no idea what happened in the first 150 hands of the graph. My full tilt bankroll starts at about hand 150, the first 150 must be my old pokerstars hands or something.

I'm basically killing the limits, but there were some rough patches. You don't know until you've experienced it what its like to have a long break even patch. I broke even from hand 550 to 675... 125 WHOLE HANDS!!! You can't understand the pain of that long a streak.

But all's well that ends well. Bankroll stands at 71,303.

IDK if your doing ring games or not. but w/that roll you might want to do the 2k 90 sit+go's. you'll be at 10 million before you know it. i only got 3m now but i'll be working on getting to 50 million. theres a 1million playchip tourney on sundays i want to get in.

hehe.... I wish

By the way, this came from 6-tabling the 5/10 tables. I'm now trying the 25/50 tables with some success... people already are playing drastically better though. I'm up 1 buyin after 200 hands.

I just started again on this SAME goal on full tilt poker today. I'm still playing. STarted with 1k chips, and am at 47k chips at the moment. I have been playing 4 tables simutatniously, and am still playign the 5-10 until I get to 100k chips ( i generally buy in with the maximum 1k since everyone else does). I've played 580 hands so far, so not bad to get 47x your money in just a few hours. It does not seem hard at all when following proper bank roll management.

I have to say, this whole experience has really been eye-opening for me. Just 3500 hands in and already I've gone through trying to move up in limits, running ice cold, going on tilt, and having to move back down in limits. I've started to get a taste of what people go through all the time with real money.

Trying to follow Bankroll Management has probably helped me more than any other single thing I've done. Hopefully in a couple more weeks (now that I'm on vacation for the summer) I'll be rolled for some of the 500k freerolls.
