Uncertain

I thought I determine my decision and full of passion after all of you guys suggestion and encouragement. But I shake again today.. Because I lay down think about those big pot I lost . (Mostly in 0.25$/0.50$ NLHE , 25$ spin and go. ) I played pretty tight during this two months actually. I looked back those hands. Most of the big pot I lost to crazy bad luck. At lease that's what I think. Like I hit a set in the flop , we shoveled after the turn card. Somehow I lost to his flush. I got AKs he got 83o , flop 8 3 K , I raise he shoveled I lost.. Or AA goes all in then lost to 88 because he hit a set. There is another one drive me crazy which I got a full house but got beaten by a Quad. After all these cooler happened in only two months. Is it a sigh that god do not want me get into this poker path?

You have to stop.
Read a book called, The Biggest bluff! by Anna Konnicova, then start learning the game.
At present you are just shark bait. The levels you are playing are way beyond your skill.

Freeroll your way back up. Play for cents. Read a few books for some insight. At the same time. Coolers happen and that's part of the process and even a psychopath would tilt in some situations. I lost quads over quads, straight flush over royal flush and every AA hand I played in a two weeks timeframe. If it didn't happen to me I wouldn't believe it. I blamed everything and everyone. Try to lose cents not dollars until you feel more confident. Good luck!

Is there a moment you feel like what the odds can this happen? In my personal experience, there are so many bad beats on online poker. Almost happened 80% of big pots I got into . You never doubt anything? I am sorry , But I just feel like to talk to someone how I feel. In the other hand I am sure you are right. Gotta do it step by step. Do you have any book that recommend?

Ok, Of course I doubt strange stuff but it's irrelevant, see Covid. I do my best to get over it and better myself instead of blaming everything and everyone around me. Odds work themeselves out long-term with experience and you have to beat each level at a time, can't skip the queue profitably. From what I've read you did a bit of a Dan Bilzerian move. He is not a role model so it's not a great idea to start playing poker like him. Learn from him, but don't play like him, maybe try his brother's style.

In terms of books, I would literally recommend anything you can find. I started with Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Gus Hansen, Jonathan Little, Nathan "blackrain79" Williams. You could also have a look at Pat Ditmar for math and numbers. And loads more if you look up poker/holdem/omaha books online.

For Omaha/PLO there's Tri Nguyen, Jeff Hwang, Dan Deppen.

Have a look at this as well "Bluffthespot Preflop Bible" for some ranges to work on.

Maybe even try something like The Chimp Paradox by Steve Peters (explains the brain processes quite nicely).

Besides reading, you can find a lot of valuable info on youtube, twitch where you can see pros or good poker players in action like Doug Polk and mant others. Last but not least, there are other online resources such as forums like Cardschat.

If you prefer hands-on then play for chips and freerolls for hours upon hours. And that could probably teach you the best lessons available for free. I know people say that freerolls are not real poker and there's not much to learn. I think it's the best free experience/practice you can get if you play them as if it were your real money in play. And they're really tough to win. It actually feels really good to reach the final table out of 1-3k players. So I can't see many downsides.

Furthermore, I don't know where you are from but I would suggest finding out what other poker platforms you can access besides pokerstars. I believe ACR, 888, Party ($1K daily), unibet and others could keep you playing freerolls nearly non-stop. Well, unless you're Keith Richards I doubt you could stay up for more than a week without sleep.
Even Ladbrokes and Coral have a $1K freeroll every evening. Aalthough I would not recommend them as I see them as fraudulent after they banned my accounts and confiscated my funds based on bogus accusations of cheating, just because I got in the money in every one of their freerolls for about a month. Reported them to IBAS and, of course, they side with each other so I got a big flip off and rubbish excuses that they have the right to do whatever they want and nothing else matters. Use them at your own risk.

Is all of that going to make you a winning poker player? No, of course not, but it gives you direction and then you can put in the manual labour productively.

Lastly, everything I said is just an opinion/point of view, which may or may not apply to you so don't take anything personally.

Please talk a break. Pokerstars sometimes makes me mad the variance is unbelievably crazy.

First, try to play Sit and Go's of 1.5 buy in. There are a lot of variance in playing tourneys for more than a 1000 players.

But if you already lose a lot try to play in the Sunday million ($109 buy in) if you are ready and have a bankroll for that.

Totally agree, I think it's worth taking a mentor and figuring out your game

Obviously, if you lose money, you are doing something wrong. Whether you should stop depends on how much you can afford to spend. If the amount you spent is acceptable to you, then you can continue. But what's the point of continuing to lose money?

What's the point? Maybe the point is that you actually hate money :hmmmm2:

Losing $ 850 in 2 months is probably hard. It is worth considering the appropriate limits and building and maintaining a bankroll. If you like to play, then you need to find conditions so that you can play comfortably and not lose so much that it would hit the family budget. In short, it's up to you to decide!

Stop something, I don't know what your playing but you should be playing micro mtt. It's really hard to lose that much this way. Take advantage of all CC freerolls and specialty games. Good games with better competition than most MTTs.

Just stop paying to play. There are so many freerolls to play on so many sites that there is always action. Work your way up. Earn your poker money by playing poker. Then if you lose it's no big deal.

Nope

I wouldn't stop playing but maybe start playing lower stakes, or just sitngos or tournys. Only make deposits when you have extra money that wont hurt you if you lose it

You've come to the right place to ask that question.
First - Please join my "Home Game" on PokerStars. We are a fun loving group of old Canadian guys who will be happy to take your Canadian loonies and toonies. You won't feel so bad knowing that your money is staying in canada and supporting seniors.
Second - Seriously, many people on Cardschat do want to help you with this question - as do I. However, we need more info.
1. How long have you been playing poker?
2. What games are you playing on PokerStars? (Cash, Tourneys, etc).
3. What kind of poker are you playing? (Holdem, Omaha, other)
4. What stakes are you playing?
5. What is your poker experience?

You have certainly lost some bad beats, but that happens to all of us. Playing $25 Spin&Go games is risky if you are fairly new to online poker.
No, there are just as many bad beats per million hands in live poker as there are in online poker. We just play many more hands per hour online.
There is a 30 day course right here on CardChat!! Work your way through it, and practice on much lower stakes games. You can play 25 Spin&Go games for $1 and maybe win a few along the way.
Good luck.

You can play freerolls if you don't have a bankroll. Now there are a huge number of poker rooms with freerolls :jd4::):jd4:

I would say no you should not stop playing but you need to make changes. You do know 85%+ players will just break even and or lose money playing this game. Its also a long term game that will have swings that can scare the hell out of you or make you think your ready to play the nosebleeds. I have gone over 1 1/2 months just this year alone with out a cash on one site.

Here is my suggestions.

1) I dont know what game your playing but you need to move down in stakes. I would guess your playing in the 25 or 30 dollar but in range if playing tournaments and maybe .25/50 on cash. You need to drop it drastically.

2) I dont know how long you have been playing or how seriously you take your game but you may need to study and learn more. You say you have been on poker stars 2 months and if you have only been playing a short time you are not even close to playing at that level. Swimming with the sharks wont help you here. Hell, I have been playing for 20+ years and I dont know everything on poker and I study the game all the time.

Dont despair, Just drop down in stakes. Use proper bankroll management and enjoy the game.
