Hmm, i've heard already from other people, that they can better concentrate in a silence and music distracts them. But i think it's a matter of taste. I love music so much, that even poker session can't stop me of listening to it. ) And it is not distracting at all for me.

I don't think any music will do since everyone's taste is different. Mood is also another factor in music choice. For example if you are in a bad mood and are playing poker and listening to, say "adrenaline" boosting music, you might end up making very bad choices in your poker game based on your elevated physiological symptoms such as heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, etc. It's hard for your brain to focus and "think" clearly under these circumstances.

I usually listen to music all the time (during work, studying, etc.) but I think when i play music and poker I do slightly better cause I think more about the hands. In some of the freerolls if a games going kinda slow I've gotten bored and wasn't paying as much attention to some bad bets I called but music keeps me focused more and prevents most of those mistakes. If anyone's really interested there's a nueroscience paper that talks about how if you play music that you don't like or dislike your focus improves better then if you like or dislike it, so if y'all really care check that out (I read it cause I'm a research nerd lol)

I think music isn't bad when you play online, but playing live you miss little things when you listen to music. You miss small conversations between players, etc.

It all depends on what music to listen to. Heavy music distract attention, but melodic calm music helps to concentrate. For me, relaxing music is played as background while I play poker for example or do smth that requires concentration

Well you all may think I am even worse - I play my best while sitting in front of the TV , my hubby watches his sports and I play on my laptop in my lazy boy chair , however I cannot actually sit and concentrate until dinner is done at the end of the day , I have to constantly jump up and check on it, and when done and kitchen cleaned up , then I can concentrate best - even while the tv is on.
This is why I never seem to make it through the freerolls in the late afternoon - unless they start after 5:00 pm est.
my name on all poker sites is cook2cards and if I am playing during the day - I am definitely playing inbetween cooking/baking as I do all our meals ahead on the weekends ....
But if each one has music they like to listen to - I understand , if they are playing online - you need to keep your mind active while waiting for people to take their turn, and music helps that.
