I think you know this but for the sake of others, I would like to point out that there is no such thing as "my luck is due to change because I had terrible cards/beats for a while". It is just as likely to get bad luck tomorrow as it is to get good luck.
Yes, I'm aware of this. But thanks for pointing it out, the more useful information this thread contains the better!

I don't expect an immediate upswing or anything. I know that after a terrible session the cards may be just as bad the next day.
I guess the best way to explain what I meant is this: I have gotten dealt all pocket pairs roughly 215 times (+/- 10) over the course of 47,000 hands, but I've only gotten dealt Kings 170 times.

Now I know for a fact that the pocket Kings are going to catch up. They may not catch up in a single day, in fact it may take ages for them to catch up, but they will catch up.
I'm not sure whether patterns are a normal part of randomness, but it does seem that there are often streaks. To go with the example above, I expect a streak of Kings at some point.

There was a time about a week ago where I would catch set after set after set (they got sucked out all the time, but that's a different story :D ). At the moment however I barely catch any sets.
Since the odds of catching a set are 1:8, one would think that roughly every eighth pocket pair makes a set. But that's not how it works.
There are stretches where you play 35 pocket pairs in a row and don't get a set, and another time you may catch 5 sets when playing 8 pairs.

So, I don't know whether there will big a "big ass upswing" or whether it'll be a "slow but steady quicker-than-average increase" but I just feel that a "big ass upswing" is more likely, once again because everything seems to happen in streaks a whole lot.

Welcome to all the new people :D and good luck!

Update for everyone. Cards are STILL dead in ring games. For some reason I can't flop anything and when I do I get beat or no one flops anything and doesn't want to play against me. I'm pretty sure that I'm not playing any, I really think that the $.02/$.05 games have tightened up over the last week or so, but then again maybe it's just me not getting any damn cards. Although my SNG's and HU games have been going pretty well.

Day 6: 138% ($70.04)
Day 7: 114% ($57.85)
Day 8: 138% ($69.98)
Day 9: 119% ($60.41) - Cash games didn't go well and had some big beats.
Day 10: 136% ($69.18) - Cash games AGAIN didn't go well, lost some money but then made some back from some fish. I then did a $4 180 person SNG. I placed ITM, I also played a $2 HU match and won.
Day 11: 140% ($71.31) - Finally crossed the $70 mark lol, took a while for some reason =/. Ring games AGAIN didn't go well, lost a few dollars and then decided to leave. Made back my lost money from the ring games and plus some in a lot of $2 HU games.

Ever since Day 7 my ring games have gone downhill. I can't flop anything and I can't win any money either. Just like Chris said, there are some days when nearly every pocket pair you have you end up hitting a set and some days you barely ever do hit a set, well for me I've hit about 5 sets in ring games since day 7.

I think I'll keep doing ring games in the beginning of my sessions but if they don't go well I'm just going to stop and play some HU matches, SNG's or MTT's because they seem to be doing a lot more for me than ring games. I might also bump up from $.02/$.05 to $.05/$.10 games because they are both the same max-buy in($10). Not sure yet because I do feel comfortable at $.02/$.05 I'm just not winning anything :(

Day 49: 358% (471.71)
Day 50: 354% (467.05)
Day 51: 352% (464.49)

After analysing yesterday’s play, I found that my overcards were a loss maker! Basically, I was not making sufficient allowance for a coordinated board and was therefore getting caught too much by drawing hands. Today was pretty much the opposite of yesterday (but with the same result – negative equity). Today, virtually every coin flip went against me, but most of my premium hands held up. I’m think I played pretty well today though, so although it’s frustrating to show a loss I’m more pleased than if the loss had been due to avoidable circumstances.

Alright, I figure it can't hurt to start keeping better track of my bankroll. Hopefully this thread will motivate me to keep better records. I'll mostly be playing $5 SNGs along with some MTT. I might end up playing in some cash games if I get bored, I've had success at the .25/.50 levels but I have struggled in all cash games lately so I'm trying to stay away from them.

Progress Update

Day 50: 565% ($11,298)
Day 51: 599% ($11,982)
Day 53: 656% ($13,119)

I haven't updated over the last few days because I haven't played much.
However, there has been a big change: today, I've moved my entire bankroll to Pokerstars. They were kind enough to raise my deposit limit 20 minutes after I had sent them an e-mail, so it was "Goodbye, Ongame" for me.

The main reason for this was a lack of available bonuses at my old site. The Pokerstars VIP system seems much, much better.
After getting used to the Pokerstars software on a single table, I quickly started a 4-tabling session. I spent only about 2 hours at the tables, but I was running real good. Hopefully, I'm back on track towards 15K and $3/$6.

To Cheetah: Can you please do something about the vertical lines in the graphs? They're getting a bit overwhelming :) Thank you!

Day 50: 354% (467.05)
Day 51: 352% (464.49)
Day 52: 376% (495.60)

I played the longest single session that I’ve ever played (at least since joining this thread) – nearly 5 hours! My policy is normally to take a break after about 3 hours, but there was a maniac at the table who was so incredibly predictable I couldn’t bring myself to leave. He would raise with any picture card, 3 bet with A-rag, and bet ANY pair post flop. He was over $60 down (playing 50c / $1) when I eventually dragged myself from the table. The only reason I did leave the table is that I’m watching the Poker Million final (live) on TV, and was loosing concentration on my own game. I hope he’s playing tomorrow.

Day 2 196.49 (113.37%)

Slow and steady I guess :p Day 1 was a real rollercoaster, I was down to about $120 but managed to work my way back up. Day two I only played for about an hour and a half and somehow I didn't get involved in any major pots. At least it's going up though, my graph looks kinda funny it needs more days :p

I've been admiring this thread for some time, and I've decided to join in. I had my PC blow up on me over Thanksgiving, and I just got back my older data now, so I can fully post my graph and progress from the past few months.

I started on September 26th by putting $100 on PS. I wanted to conform to strict BRM standards in order to work on getting over tilt, which was a problem for me during earlier deposits. I would play, do well, get some beats, blow up, and my bankroll would be crippled. This time around I'm doing things right and they are working.

After an initial drop off, I've been playing very well for the past few weeks. Running my bankroll up to $142.80. I've been playing primarily $.01/$.02 PLO8, but I also mix in $1.75 NL MTTs and $3.40 Limit Razz SNGs. I've also had a few sessions of $.04/$.08 Limit Stud H/L but not lately. Here are my stats:

Well, so far today I’ve folded quads twice, a straight flush once, 3 full houses and countless flushes / straights. No I haven’t gone mad, they were all pre flop folds that would have won large, very large or massive pots had I played them. If my VS$IP had been 61 instead of 16 I’d have made a huge profit today. Okay, I’m obviously only joking, but it can be quite painful to see so many monster hands go to waste.

I’m actually very pleased with my play today. I really did play to the best of my ability including 3 correct put downs with big pairs (QQ twice and KK once). That’s something that I’m not sure I would have been able to do at all (and certainly not with so much ease) a month or so ago.

I'm trying to get into the micro limit ring games at Stars, but I'm empty there. I have 50 cents on Full Tilt, if anyone would be good enough to trade me 50 cents on stars for the same amount on Tilt, I'd appreciate it. Just send me a PM.

You would probably have a better time if you deposit $10 on stars (stars being only site where u can makew tiny little deposits of 10) and grinded the micros :) :)

starting with 0.50 is like, urg

Well I didn't play on 12/23, but I did play alot on 12/24. Dug myself a huge whole early in the day. Then shut it down, cleared my head and came back on fire. Made up most of my losses. Decided to play a $3.40 Razz SNG, but finished 7th. Then went back to micro PLO8 and was just hanging around grinding away until a ATM showed up. He helped power me into the green for the day and I called it quits.
