I played the play-money games when I was learning to play poker. It was a good learning tool. But now that I have been playing for several years, there is no incentive to play the play-money games.

For me playing without money doesn't make sense. If you play like that people doesn't care that much what they do so It's impossible to learn something.

I played for 1 year with play money. I played tournaments for 10 months to get to my first million. When I started to play bigger tournaments, to reach 100 million was in two months . Today, I have only 15 million, but do not play more play money , as I made my first deposit and I'm trying to make some money. At the time I did not win much, but I think I'm on the right track.

poker is lawful method of robbery, so answer is never.
really how is it robbery when as a poker player you should know that as soon as you sit down at a poker table your money is not yours anymore until you stand up and walk away. It's in a sort of limbo state where it can grow and deplete. Bit like the stock market really.
but no i do not see the point of playing poker for play money i agree that the money gives people an incentive to play better(although also causes more emotion when the bad beats fall out) but without it all that great entertainment is watered down.

Yes, as i don't play because of the money :)
I do find it gives an extra thrill the freerolls/play money sessions do not have though...

What can i say, it's a hobby :)

There has to be some prize pool to play. Just not worth for me. Team games are fun here and there is incentives to play.

If there is a way to keep score of "who is the best", then yes. If the game just resets, and is over, then no.

I see lots of people won't play it because they measure reward only using money. I think if poker came out as a video game today, there are people still take it seriously and try to be the very best. Of course, it won't attract the best minds around the world, but I do believe some people will take it seriously.

Well, I have played with play chips before(no money), but only before I knew about freerolls. Now that I know, as long as the freerolls stay around I won't go back to no money. Not even close to as fun if there is no reward, even if its only a dollar tournament ticket.

I generally refuse to play poker if there isn't money at stake.

The only exception is a facebook poker game and I'm playing to have millions more play-chips than any of my friends so I can crush their poker dignity under my size 9 boots.

I think that money is just a consequence to me than a necessity when it comes to poker, after all do not live it. But there is obviously much more adrenaline playing for money than for play money. Bet for money can be very good for those who have good reserves. For me, as I walk through bad money I get only in small bets or freerolls.

Yeah, I would definitely still play. Maybe and probably not as much as I do now, but I would still play.

cash is king

I love to play but as with most people time is money! In my case though I enjoy the rush when I win.. rather its $50 or $.50 cash is king!
