Movies and TV seem to be a consistent theme and that's how I first got interested too when I was pretty young, wish I had invested more time back then to really understanding it!

Many years ago, you could only learn about poker from movies. It was only later that tournaments were broadcast on television. It was from the movies that I learned about poker.

I spent 3 years ago playing games on my pc, surfing the social networks, until I came across an advertisement on facebook of the poker game, I did not take much importance and continued browsing, the next day once again I found a video where they promoted this game, I was struck by the way the players were at the table looking at each other without blinking, an atmosphere with an adrenaline rush, I started watching it until the end, and from there I fell in love with the game and never stopped playing it until now.

How long have you been familiar with poker and under what circumstances did you get to know it?
My first was watching my brothers friends play a home game when I was 18 I guess. So much money was being tossed around I said I will never play that. Then when I was 45, guessing, my GF took me to the casino and because I hate machines I eventually sat at a poker table. I have never been in the red since. Only online, that is another story hahahaha

15 years ago, but I started playing for real at 8.

School friends introduced me to the basics.

I got to know poker through some friends that I frequented in the casino and in one of them they began to have tournaments and play cash and it caught my attention because it is a game that does not depend only on luck but on your ability to read a your opponents and know if they have a good hand or not.

I would say... 4 years ago probably.

I drove a friend to Bicycle casino in Los Angeles cause he was going to play and he asked if wanted to tag along but I had no clue about the game.

Still don't have much clue haha, but since then, I started to study cause I wanted to play at the Bicycle also but, ended up moving and never got the chance.

For probably about 20 years, considering that the first few years, when i did not have the Internet, i played computer games with poker in the casino ))
There were all kinds of games (5CD, 5CS, 7CS, TH, Omaha, ...)

For a long time, one of the poker rooms tried to lure me into their networks through pop-ups, but I did not give in and trained to close this pop-up window before the enticing numbers loaded. What can we say about the delight that I experienced when I found out that you need to play against people like you, that everything depends on you and that the psychological factor plays a huge role! I will say that the way poker interests me, I was not interested in anything and never. I don’t want to say that I have found my own and I don’t want to rely on it as the main income, but the fact that this will be a part of my life for a very long time is 100%! I spend a lot of time on it, relative to my family, work, etc.

It was somewhere in 2016, I came to visit a friend, and I saw how he won 800 from 100 dollars playing Omaha in cash, in a matter of minutes (20 minutes) And then it really fascinated me!

Playing with a friend one summer night, this misunderstood love for poker began, and well, four years have passed since that great day that I discovered poker.

I only started playing regularly 5-6 years ago. But in general, I have been familiar with this game for a very long time, more than 20 years.

I started playing poker as a young man in the early seventies. After Friday training at my sports club, a few like-minded people always got together for a round of 5 card draw. At that time I had just started my studies and it was not easy to keep up financially as a poor student.
I would compare the stakes then with NL 200 nowadays. Of course, I was there anyway. :)
I will never forget one hand from that time in my life. I had 4 kings and my opponent had 4 queens.
A few days later I was the proud owner of a brand new stereo system with all the trimmings.

After finishing my studies I worked in france and it was over with poker; until 2001. By chance I discovered pokerstars and NL Holdem. Of course, I had no clue about the game. But as an old poker expert no problem for me.:giggle:
So, I whipped out my credit card and deposited 100 bucks. Of course, immediately to a NL 100 table. I can handle the guys there. Within 5 minutes I was broke. I did the same game I think 10 times in a week before I got a little smarter.
I deposited another 100 bucks and played NL 2 to learn the game. Also I had joined a poker forum to learn the game properly. That was my last deposit until today.

By the infamous black friday I made it to NL 1000 and plo 400 reg on full tilt. After that I lost interest in poker a bit. Thank God PS saved my bankroll later on. During this time I was also very tense professionally and had little time. So I cashed out.
In the meantime, I am retired and have plenty of time. I am considering whether I should attack again as an old fart.
I live in germany again. Unfortunately, the legislator has limited online poker. I can only play up to 4 tables and max, NL 200. There is also hardly any rakeback.
In the meantime I played some hands on NL 50; it is almost like NL 1000 in former times. 😁

Sorry for the long post. Maybe one of you has had similar experiences. See you at the tables. GL to all of you my friends.
