I started playing poker as a young man in the early seventies. After Friday training at my sports club, a few like-minded people always got together for a round of 5 card draw. At that time I had just started my studies and it was not easy to keep up financially as a poor student.
I would compare the stakes then with NL 200 nowadays. Of course, I was there anyway.

I will never forget one hand from that time in my life. I had 4 kings and my opponent had 4 queens.
A few days later I was the proud owner of a brand new stereo system with all the trimmings.
After finishing my studies I worked in
france and it was over with poker; until 2001. By chance I discovered
pokerstars and NL Holdem. Of course, I had no clue about the game. But as an old poker expert no problem for me.

So, I whipped out my credit card and deposited 100 bucks. Of course, immediately to a NL 100 table. I can handle the guys there. Within 5 minutes I was broke.

I did the same game I think 10 times in a week before I got a little smarter.
I deposited another 100 bucks and played NL 2 to learn the game. Also I had joined a
poker forum to learn the game properly. That was my last deposit until today.
By the infamous black friday I made it to NL 1000 and plo 400 reg on full tilt. After that I lost interest in poker a bit. Thank God PS saved my
bankroll later on. During this time I was also very tense professionally and had little time. So I cashed out.
In the meantime, I am retired and have plenty of time. I am considering whether I should attack again as an old fart.

I live in
germany again. Unfortunately, the legislator has limited
online poker. I can only play up to 4 tables and max, NL 200. There is also hardly any rakeback.
In the meantime I played some
hands on NL 50; it is almost like NL 1000 in former times. 😁
Sorry for the long post. Maybe one of you has had similar experiences. See you at the tables. GL to all of you my friends.
