How Many Poker Variants can you play competently

About 5-7 years ago there was an opportunity to play freerolls in all types of games. Even such exotic as Irish poker, Courchevel, Badugi, all kinds of seven-card poker, etc. It was interesting.

I'm not used to playing other variants besides Texas Holdem, but I know how to play well Badugi, but there aren't much badugi tournaments, I guess people are not interested in this type of game

Well... if when you say competently are you talk about know the rule, and some strategy to play, I can say that I play so many poker variants, but if you are talking about be profitable, I can't say, cause I am a middle player, I have played a lot of styles, and I don't take it so serious, in generally I play more freerolls, and because of this I actually don't have much options, but some time ago, in PS I had played so many variations, I like theses poker variantes, but there are no much options, few rooms have these games.

Except for limit holdem (because I don’t like that) I love everything and can play (or just think ).
You can come across anything omaha (including H / L), razz, 2-7 TD, 2-7 SD, 5 card draw or even badugi. And I also like other mixed versions of these, I understand, I know (or I just think I need to emphasize that ).

As most sites are mainly geared around Texas no limit hold'em it got me wondering how many variants others know how to play. Are you hold'em only or are you well rounded?

I can play Hold'em, Omaha both hi and hi/lo, Razz, Seven card stud + hi/lo and I'm currently teaching myself badugi.

How about you?

I only play NLHoldem, I have dabbled in OMAHA but I am not very attracted to the game format. It may be that when he is super competent in NL he ventures into another modality.

I think for any poker player it is possible to play competently no more than two variants of poker. It's too difficult to play three or more variations. Moreover, if you play online and several tables with different poker options at once. Our brain is simply not able to quickly process so much information at the same time.

I play many variants of poker but risk playing many real money I don't think it's highly recommended you should first try to dominate one or two variants and then try others in my case texas game and omaha

I am a better player in texas holdem but I can defend myself in other variants like omaha, omaha hi-lo, stud hi-lo. It is good to have different modalities in which we can play decently. I think texas holdem is the most complicated because we can find really good players

first you have to learn to play 1-2 games which is profitable or at least not unprofitable and after that you can move on in my personal opinion.

I think I can play most of the common variants- limit holdem, stud hi/lo, plo, 27, razz, no limit holdem, plo8, 7 card stud, 27 single draw, and badugi. But I really dont like mixing too many different types of games at once.

Well, I still working on my Texas Holdem No Limit game. Once I get it strong enough on a fun and profitable manner. I will start to work on Omaha for fun and so on. That's my plan! One variation per time!

NLH is my prefered game. I have played PLO, I min cashed in a couple of tournaments over the past month but, I'm not super confident playing it.
I'd like to try all the variants and be competent at all of em at some point. Yet, One might fear becoming a jack of all trades, master of none.
