How do others relate to the fact that you play poker?

Hi, Tvorets! When I started to play in the Poker were any talking, discussions.
questions, of course... But since I'm play a long time, the all questions decided!
And now the all relatives in my family simply know, that is my work , and relate
by this fact with the understanding and philosophically... That's all!

How others (parents, wife, friend) refer to the fact that you play poker?

Before I explain that everything is studied and calculated, they scowl.
After unraveling the details, they open a small space of kindness in their minds!

People that know I play poker seem to have a natural understanding that I don’t fit the standard demographic for it and are perhaps more curious about why I like to play, how I started etc.

Maybe it is my imagination but the tone of the conversation often seems to shift once they realize that I play professionally—they instantly seem to be more suspicious, sometimes even asking boldfacely if I “even make any money doing that” (to which I like to reply, “do you make money at your job?” [emoji28] to point out the rudeness of the question that somehow escapes a lot of people). The tone is almost as though it is quirky/intriguing of me to play poker if it were just as a hobby, but playing professionally seems to make me instantly a degenerate in their eyes.

The others i talk to asociate poker like it is a casino game, its hard to explain them its not quite like that..

But my girlfriend like it, she think is awesome

the same thing! I play only on saturdays nights but my wife says I'd rather drink or smoke =)))

My husband likes to play poker with me, sometimes we are playing together, we just spend evenings playing, we prefer playing than waching movies its really fun. Others didnt know Im playing, because I dont think its necessary to told everybody, especialy when I notice that many people see poker just like bad habit

At the beginning I was afraid to tell everyone since, here in my country it is considered as another vice, but then my father mentioned that he also played poker and he liked the great tournaments that transmitted in ESPN and I got encouraged by him to learn more to play and read about poker, since then, I try to be a regular player, learn what I can and play in my spare time, my wife knows I play from time to time and laughs at the idea that I have that if one day I win a good poker tournament, I'll take her to Paris

My wife has no issue with it. I save my poker playing til times where it will not interfere with work or family activities.

My opinion

They think I am heavy. To my family and friends there are so many games that you worship to get a head there is no one to work. So they make me work for a year here and there and then let me get back to poker. Its kind of a dodge and run game because poker players are suppose to work and if they work they are suppose to pull it off. It was a pretty good challenge washing dishes and doing a paper route this last year and a half.

I don't really have any friends that play online poker only the friends I've made through online poker LOL..... my other friends don't really get it but they don't realize that I am not risking much at all. Because I am playing with money that I've already won and accumulated from a long time ago I rarely rarely deposit anything anymore
