It seems to be a great job for those who like and we love poker ... however it requires a lot of concentration when it comes to distributing the cards ... I think in my personal case I prefer to be the person at the table playing poker and not the person who deals the cards ...!

To be honest , I never thought about working as a dealer, it looks like an easy job but it s not, because of the variety of the people, ( it s all about them , if u meet gentle and nice people, it will be fine , but rude people can really gets you very angry) . I really respect dealer , their job is not that easy , but it needs a lot of discipline and concentration.

Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a poker dealer - or given serious thought to becoming one? Read this article and let's talk about it.

Poker Dealer Guide

I think I would love it in many ways - I have always loved to be the dealer when playing card games including poker.

But - I don't think I would be very good at it. I think sometimes I would get stumped on the math - at my age you get brain freeze sometimes doing things like that lol.

I would also struggle with dealing with rude and drunk players.

I have a lot of respect for poker dealers.

LOL - I agree math isn't one of my things - never was !

For me to be a dealer , I would only have 2 of the skill sets needed for this job - and that would be the social part :) and the ability to read the hand ranking skills - I seem to be able to see who is the winner each time there is a show down at the table , and sadly if I am in and not the winner right away !
After reading this , I to have a lot of respect for the dealers and the patience they have , and the math they can do in their heads.
My husband is very good with math in his head and it amazes me everytime , and I end up using him as my personal calculator.
The benefits the dealers get get are well deserved !

Many casinos have a free dealers courses. They teach how to calculate really fast . There is few easy and fast methods. For example if you need 227 + 480 this become 500 + 207 . Very easy with little practice.

There is no way I could ever become a poker deal. I have a massive amount of respect for what they go through and how complex their job can be. I always tip well and think everyone should as the service they are providing is not something you could readily afford on your own at a home game, unless you know a dealer personally.
Something I've always wondered is whether or not poker dealers become masters of reading players. For someone wanting to go pro in face-to-face games, maybe becoming a dealer would give you an edge.

I think it would be a very interesting, although difficult, profession. One of the most difficult things, I think, would be handling rude/abusive players. I'm not sure I'm cut out for that.

I thought about trying to become a dealer but after thinking about it I decided I would rather play than deal it. Lol. Great article. Almost made me change my mind

I have asked myself if I might like to be a dealer, but my answer is always no. I wouldn't want to have to deal with rude or aggressive poker players on a regular basis. It looks easy at first glance but must take nerves of steel to do this job.

In my opinion, Poker Dealer is a great job, but also this is a very hard job. You need to be strong enough, if you want that job. As it seems for me, this is not so easy(as it can seems) and you need to have a lof of patience, if you want to be a poker dealer.

DEALER

Being a dealer has a fun side and a hard side many hours of sessions but is very interesting can see good and bad players and learn a lot of poker to have the power to observe all the other perspective that is not to be playing but being at the poker table

Dealer is a conductor of opera and then get upset when I see players blaming the dealer because his cards do not add up and when I see some big pots in cash gains some players do not reward the dealer

I always respected all dealers where I played and when I got good pots in cash rewarded them for recognizing the work

I have no vontande to be a dealer but it was good to read the article and see how need to become a professional dealer as the aforementioned schools and also the financial gain of possibilities

thanks for the article !!!!

I do think that in first place you must like to work with people and with all kind of people they can be bad players, bad losers, bad drunk losers sometimes etc.

Very often when players lose some money they do not show there best manners and the must of the time they do blame the Dealer for that.

I'm pretty sure that I would not like to do that job I prefer to be on the other side of the table but I have a big respect for them.

personally, I think that the work of a dealer is very heavy,in some cases without a break,I'd like to try a couple of times to be a dealer for any major tournaments if the situation allows, but I never wanted to be a dealer in some underground games where inadequate players can blame you that they lost their money!

in my opinion i guess if you have 0 income a poker dealer would be a great position, 1 you get piad, 2 we get to learn how other play poker, sharpen our math skills, and much more.. but the pay at $21k a year is pretty low. my question is is that including tips?

It is an interesting part of poker! You watch all the action from a neutral area! I prefer the action part, which is poker game. Being a dealer, maybe, it would be a little boring for me!

I believe that for those who have in mind, being a player after poker, or playing poker in the role of a Dealer can help in parts, because you can recognize how certain players play, expressions to each action, over time, and hours at the tables watching and waiting for the action of the player can help to understand plays of value and bluff. Here in my city the Dealer of the poker house I go, they play too, and plays very well by the way ..
Now about the salary, it's not worth my while, since you need to do an extra to get the bills to pay at the end of the month.

It is a very interesting read I must say. I have no intentions of being a Poker dealer but I think the tips can be helpful for even homegames.

Did not know about the Poker Dealing Diploma. Nice of grinder to start something like this.

Side note Poker dealing is not a perquisite to playing poker. There are many successful pro players that actually does not know how to even shuffle a deck.

It seems like you have to go to dealer school for most casino's whether it be dealing poker hands, blackjack, etc.

I think it would be a great job for people looking for higher management while enjoying what they do and getting great tips. From what I've seen personally, is that the dealers make more than their wage in tips. It seems like a great career for those who wish to move up in the gaming industry, I've certainly thought about it when I was younger and didn't have so many responsibilities.

I never thought about the profession of the dealer, but when I watch the broadcast of tournaments I like watching on the dealer, especially if it's a beautiful girl))))

I would love to be a dealer but not for long, at least 1 year in a casino .. I would like to have a great handling of the game in general and not only be limited to playing holdem .. I would like to have that experience but just to see how is. Maybe I know some people who influence in some way for good in my poker.
