I think we all play to have fun, obviously nobody is amused to lose but in this game someone has to lose so that someone else wins and play for money is more fun noc if I speak only for me but we all want to earn money playing poker xD

For both but of cause mostly for money. I don't think I would play poker if there's no money. Without money, it is not interesting at all for me.

I play for fun only!Poker is not a way to earn money due to high level of difficulty and the risk it involves.

I try to combine business with pleasure,to enjoy the loss I'm not physically given,I always strive to win,so often get upset when I lose, maybe in the future I will learn to enjoy just hanging out playing! I will strive for this!:)

Used to play for free with friends, but once we started playing with money we couldn't go back. Never play for that much though, and never aspired to even try to earn a side income etc. as I didn't want it to take over my life in any way. So I suppose 80% fun, 20% money is a nice bonus to win / makes the game a little more interesting.

Even a small win of $10 gives you pleasure , I don't think that is someone out there who plays only for fun. The matter is to set as a priority having fun and money are more than welcome :)

Just curious guys. I know there is a lot of debate here. Let me know why you play, and explain a little if you don't mind! Curious as to what the feel is here.

Also, be awesome and follow me on Twitch :D[/QUOT

I mostly play for fun.

I don't think I'd enjoy the game if there wasn't a prize to win. It doesn't always have to be money. But If I'm in an MTT I definitely want there to be something to play for. The fun for me is to just have a shot at whatever is up for grabs. Just being in there with a chance to win it all is everything.

I play for small amounts of money mainly for the entertainment and mental stimulation. I used to play backgammon seriously and for moderate stakes but online money backgammon is dead and I couldnt make money anymore so I switched to poker. I spent years studying backgammon and I wished I had spent that time studying poker but that was pre Moneymaker and I didnt foresee the future very well. I dont have the desire to go all in with the study in poker so it will just have to be micro stakes and freerolls for me.

I play for both! I highly enjoy the game but it's always more fun to win than lose. I also tend to play better when I'm enjoying myself

Both fun and money. I enjoy playing the game and do decent every year. Sometimes the fun is not their and I will still play to make profit, so I guess I even though I play for both the money is more important than the fun.

The only time it's fun for me is when I'm winning. So I would have to say that I'm not playing for the fun of it.

I play for fun and winning is a bonus. From my experience that's the best attitude to have. A few poker tips i've gathered over time:

1) as a beginner, always bet with the minimum amount so you can play more games and gain experience.
2) playing against professionals is a big learning curve, and best not to play for money. beware: choosing weak opponents is an art among professionals

3) always stay in control of your emotions. If you feel like you're losing it, take a break and think through your situation.

happy playing :)

Great advice. I play for fun and money is a bonus as well. I don't ever play big money games, whether I am good enough or not...I am too impatient. I know my own weakness ;-)

I might add that I am far more aggressive in free rolls because I am not sure there's a lot of lessons you can learn. I play the odds. As is said above though if you get a bad beat, take a break or you'll risk being out in 3-5 rds. In money games, observe the table and go slow. I don't try to out bluff much in money games and probably fold too often but its all about risk vs reward.

I started playing poker for fun, but there was a period in my life when I was unemployed and looking on the internet how to make money, I saw an article showing that poker could be a way to make money.

Although not a professional player, I came to see poker as a way to have fun and earn money, ie uni business with agradrável.

I think playing for fun and winning pretty much go hand in hand. Winning is fun right? Lol

Little of both would be accurate. Love cards and people having to pay gets the best from them. Love the competition and the added joy of making money.

For Love or Money?

Yes to both. I play because it's a hoot and getting paid makes it more enjoyable.
