We all play to get more much money. On cash games you can win great money, but also you can lose really big money. In cash game you will have to play on big money if you want to get big money, but in the tournaments for little money you can win a really big money. You will only have to win one tournament with big prize, and you will need to have more patience and lucky day of course.

So many sites have cut back on rakeback in cash games, I switched to tournaments.

cash is really boring compared to tournaments.
I make money at tournaments but not cash - go figure why but I guess I'm not a good cash player.

For me poker is to pass time.So that being said it would be tournaments because I have to invest only once for a couple hours of play time vrs investing everyhand in cash games which would cost a fourtune will my measley skills at the game.

I prefer tourneys but have been playing mostly cash trying to transition a bit so that I may play more live cash games. I love the subtle differences between the two forms and enjoy both.

I make most of my money playing cash, but the tournaments are so much softer. I'm talking about strictly mid stakes online

I mix and match to even out variance. Cash games are more steady. I play pretty aggro in mtt's, so I either go very deep or bust fairly quickly.

I love tournament games. Agree with several posters about having a start and an end and where every player starts on the same page.

I prefer tournaments with low buyins like 2.20 or 4.40 HOT . Because from not so much you can turn it to thousands ;)

I only play tournaments so far. However, I'd like to try cash tables, but I don't think I have the proper bankroll for that yet.

I prefer tournaments 100% ,,,why you ask, because I suck big time at cash games,,, wish I had a live coach to help me ,,,,not on line coaching but live. That way they could show me over and over the same mistakes I was making.

I like both. But i do cash usually only live. Tournies are better online because of the lower buyins with bigger payouts

Haha nice one.

For me I keep switching between the two of them. However my dollars made per hours invested is much much higher in tourneys.

I feel like cash games are more peaced out though and feel leisurely and less pressured to save my blinds and attack attack all the time.

In regards to the Cash Game vs Tournament debate...

I created a Live Tournament Winrate Calculator that will tell you your longterm theoretical winrate. You can then compare it to your Cash Game winrate to determine if a tournament is worth your time. To my knowledge, I don't think anyone has created a tool that will tell you what your LIVE tournament winrate would/could be :)

Here is what the front face looks like

CalculatorFrontFace_zpsa0c1dee2.jpg

simply enter tournament details and your stats (or best guesstimates) and the calculator will spit out when the bubble is reached, tournament duration, avg time spent in tournaments, prize pool payout averages and ultimately your winrate.

Here is a link to download it from google docs, no strings attached

https://www.cardschat.com/forum/pok...ournament-winrate-calculator-100-free-227041/

feel free to disseminate it. Its my goal simply to give back to the poker community and hopefully create something that the poker community finds very useful.
