Best time would be midnight for me, it's silent and there is no one to disturb during the poker game which is very important.

I think the best time to play poker is the morning with a great cup of coffee...

In the morning we can find the best tourneys bcuz the traffic it's more than at any time.

Make sure sleep well, get early from bed and start grinding! :D

In theory the best time to play poker is when Russians, Ukrainians are sleeping although Brazilians will be awake.
in the American Continent that will be around 6 am but I am getting ready to go to work so, we play when we have free tile and suffer!

For someone who lives in a GMT+10 timezone (Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane), the best time to play online is between midnight and 8am.

I know it sucks, but on the plus side, at least us Aussies don't have to pay tax on poker winnings.

I have found, in particular on soft sites like Sky Poker, that after 10.30pm is best. Soft, recreational players who probably have not read in to maths/outs/equity/EV are on and will probably be Ax type players.

I am not from Australia, However my answer IMO is Universal the best time to play is when the "better half" is out of the house. Reason one it is quite and you wont be distracted. Reason two there will be no one in your ear about wasting your time and the long list of things that they fantasize about you completeing around the house and the usual rundown of exactly how many beers are missing out of the fridge.

May not be a useful answer but I am sure it is one many can relate. Fortunately my wife is awesome and never gives me a ribbing , on the contrary likes to watch over my shoulder which can have its downside as well but that is my cross to bear.

The times do not affect my game , but much prefer to play in the morning after a good breakfast , because I have more energy , I'm not tired . However, night has more movement , so I have to play later sometimes also

I think the best time I do not know, but the best moment to be playing poker is when you are alone at home, when you can concentrate better on your opponents and use yours strategies in a more efficient way to get better performance.

I found that while playing cash games in vegas a great time to play poker is late at night when the clubs get out... There are lots of young college fratboy type's with loads of money and no patience. Also they tend to on tilt easily and try to get their chips back after they throw down money. Might seem a little unethical but ill take any edge that i can get ;)

I think the day doesn't matter if you are relaxed and nothing bothers you . In case if your environment is perfect to play poker the day doesn't matter.

BEWARE of the "WEAK"END WARRIOR and all of the "freeroll" bots.

:D Ctrl+Alt+Delete and End Task (whatever skin you are logged into)... then re-log in...after you join a "full table" game and/or when you find yourself getting beat by donks playing garbage hands or going all in every time you make a small bet or limp in and beating your hand or (trying to) bet you out off the pot ...ESPECIALLY the freerolls on ACR/BCP...you WILL notice that "the bots" (and the morons that use a card tracker/manager ignorantly) do not auto-bet/fold within 15 seconds and burn their time clock, then they go inactive. DO THIS ABOUT 25 seconds before the check/bet/raise/fold gets to you and you WILL notice the auto callers/raising bots/shills take MORE time to decide what they are going to do or go inactive.)...once you recognize who the bots and/or table "shills" are rinse and repeat and you can RAPE them for their chipstack while they try to reset their cheating program/card manager.

The only difference that I can think of is that there are other kind of people online. In the morning aren't the people wo have work online (monday untill friday). Sometimes students are or people wo are really in to poker. Maybe you just play better against those kind of people.

In my short online poker history I have started to notice some trends regarding the time of day I am playing. In the morning hours, say 8am till around 3pm, I do very well and rarely ever leave a table down. Then in the evening hours; 2pm-ish until after 7pm, sometimes even until 10pm, I just get murdered. My straights all get busted, nut flushes fall to boats and just about every sort in between like my kicker is smaller. Then after mid-night things seem to reset and my flushes and straights are crushing pairs and such until I have to quit to sleep. Repeat. My time zone is GMT +/- 5:00
Any thoughts/comments on why (Besides it having to do with the players online at those times) or similar experiences to share?

:jd4:

WOW I feel you dude! Exact same thing is happening to me. I play very well during morning\day hours and terrible\unlucky during evening\night time.

I don't know what is the reason for above said. But as the result - i'm not playing large MTTs that start in the evening hours and might take 6+ hours. I prefer early MTTs during the day, so the final table can be played before 22-23 o'clock so i can also have a good sleep. Late MTTs are for owls i think.

I think that the best time to play is when you are relax physically and mentally, and so you can take the best decision of your hands, somedays at 3 am you can be more nervous and so you will think that its not your best time to play, but maybe other days you will be more relax at 3 am so I think that it is relative.

If we talk about the game on pokerstars, for me personally the best time in the morning and before lunch local time. Plays a large number of players from canada and Latin America who already very late and that play is not quite adequate condition and Yes, they are much weaker than those playing in the afternoon - regulars from Europe
