Yeah, I suck at PLO but that hand didn't seen great.

Ever paid for coaching?
Ever been staked/staked someone?
Craziest thing you ever saw/did at a live game(doesn't necessarily have to be related to hand)?
Where are you from?

-- no
I had C9 review some of my sessions once. Not much other than that. I understand coaching can help and will consider it in the future when online comes back to the U.S., but for the most part I think a lot of "coaching" borders on being scammy and with the TeamViewer stuff it's borderline collusion/multi-accounting etc.

I think reviewing sessions yourself or having someone to it can be very helpful. A lot of actions in hands make no sense in a vacuum and giving complete details on the dynamics is difficult to do.

-- in small amounts for live games and buying/selling pieces of tournament action. I had a guy who offered to stake me in live games but he ended up not having any money himself.

-- I've seen a lot of ridiculous things in live games, maybe the craziest was this one kid calling a huge overbet shove on the turn with an open-ender, calling for a specific card ("Ten of Diamonds!") and getting it on the river.

-- I'm from Brooklyn.

No specific question here, but it seems as good an opportunity as any to thank you for the inspiration and advice you've given me in all of your posts :icon_salu

As far as online, I used to post on a forum of about 20 people where we talked about sports and politics. A lot of the guys were playing poker so I did, too, on pokerroom. I miss that site; they showed the odds street by street on all-ins, which I think most sites should use.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm pretty sure that option is available on the Merge network, where US people can still play.

Mostly though I just wanted hop in to thank you for creating this thread--though I haven't said anything yet, I've been devouring everything you're saying. I'm so impressed and inspired by your approach to the game, as well as your style, which makes everything so easy to understand. I truly think you should consider writing a book--I have a feeling this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to your poker wisdom. :)

What are your hobbies outside of poker?

Since playing poker I've lost interest in a lot of hobbies actually. I used to be really into sports but I'm not nearly as obsessed as I used to be. I still play fantasy sports but I don't follow it enough to really be competitive. Right now I'm running a sim football game but I'm getting bored of it.

At the height of your reign, how much time did you spend playing poker?
How much time did you spend studying the game/ your game?

"Reign" sort of comically overstates things. There were certainly times when I was playing 8-12 hours a day. It gets to be a grind.

When I was really grinding MTTs I was probably playing 25 a day and more on weekends. If you're not running well, they are really soul-crushing. One of the things I wanted to do (before BF) was to get back into playing more MTTs, but didn't get a chance to do so. So I've been mostly playing turbos and mixed games.

The time I spend playing live really fluctuates. There were times I played 4-5 days a week. Again, it gets to be a real grind, especially when some of those sessions run 12-16 hours. I've played 26 hours straight before (not recommended).

It's impossible to say how much time I spend studying poker. I work on a computer so I get a lot of down time to surf the Net. Mostly I read all the strat I can on the Net and spend time talking poker with other players.

Meant no disrespect. Trying to gauge how my playing time stacks up against successful players. Thanks.

My question is this I have played home games, and online say 5k sngs and have started to play pub games and would love to take my game to the casinos but I have a hard time counting chips and stacks live, any tricks that might help?

Get a cheap home poker set and practice handling them.

Stack your chips in rows of 20 while playing cash. So in a $1-$2 game your $5 chips will be in stacks of $100.

As far as guesstimating stack sizes, you get used to it after a while.

Always announce your raises.

Lol, I have this problem a lot in home games. I find it so hard to estimate how much other players have.

Any thoughts on getting started up on the few existing sites online that are open to US players?
I noticed that you mentioned occassionally when bored you might get into a few playchip games online these days... any consideration of getting into playing in the Cardschat tourneys (perhaps instead?). Might even be an oppurtunity to build a small roll for playin' recreationally online. Wondering if you're interested in this at all?
btw,.. I too occassionally play in some HomeGome playchip games with friends - - usually it's 4-tabling HU SNG.

I don't really know anything about the cc freerolls and I'm not at all interested in putting any money online until legislation passes. I can't play on Merge because they don't allow NY state players.

HEY THIS IS AWESOME

Live poker (especially tournament poker) has been described as "hours of boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror."

Ohhell I gotta play a hand LOL

OH congrats on whatever were doing here

QUESTION: How could this one get overlooked. Every run around the underground of NY from one underground game to the next and having to get staked by the mob and then having to play the head honcho because you couldnt repay the bet and then played the dude (after a teacher friendhelps you out) and wonback your money but then the boss challenges you to put up your winnings after he berates you and you accept and then you win with a nut straight. Get out from under and repay a teacher friend that helped you out of a bind and then went to the wsop

Didn't realize that about NY & Merge...that f'n sucks.

edit: or maybe I did but I forgot?? .... I think I actually chatted about this with you before?

CC has games on 'intertops' - - $100 freerolls & $5buyin $100added ( 1 freeroll & 1 buyin each week for Jan. & Feb.). 'Had' a bunch of them on Cake the last couple/few mos. but don't see any for this year so far (maybe only on Intertops now?).
There's also a 'playchip' HomeGame League on Stars, set up as SNG's. Although it's only a playchip league there are some decent prizes in this (Amazon GiftCards, poker books, DTB 30-day memberships, etc.). Not sure if it's too late to get into this season's league (it's basically a committment to play in one game per week for your team, a game being a 9plyr sng with 3,000chip starting stack). It's really kind of a social thing as there's always lots of members railing, etc. It's where I've gotten to know alot of the members much better. It's actually 'fun' :)

most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?

most famous person you've met?

most memorable thing you've done (not poker related)?

Regrets, I've had a few. I can't think of the most embarrassing thing, most of them have to do with girls or alcohol or both.

I don't know if you can consider it "met" but I've interviewed some big sports stars like Brian Dawkins, Tom Brady, Jon Runyan (who's now a congressman) and several obscure musicians, most notable was probably Peter Murphy. Also I ran into David Robinson in Manhattan once.

Related to last question, probably covering Super Bowl XXXIX.

Are you a journalist IRL? If so, what media--TV, radio, newspaper, magazine?
