Uggggggh, and my mom watches this show. She already has a dim view of poker and said she can't stand Annie. I'm sure this doesn't help her view.

I hate being judged for things. Thankfully my parents are really low-key about their disapproval (and Dad has even played poker with me), but they both still refer to it as gambling. Mom probably lumps it into the same category as the 60K an aunt of mine blew playing slots. Sigh.

Huge disappointment that Annie didn't win. Joan Rivers is a nasty... never mind.

In the end, it was a win-win for everyones charities and what does the title really mean anyway. Nothing, in my opinion. It was just great entertainment.

She was beat preflop. Raised with best hand on the turn but got Rivered (txs Ian) txs to a shady dealer, NBC. Dont mess with Hollywood icons when there is money and rep at stake.

Come on guys. There is NO WAY that Trump was going to pick Annie. She isn't the known "star" quantity that Rivers is, didn't have the tug-at-your-heart charity that Joan had (complete with personal connection and tears).

Annie played the game perfectly. Joan got the cards.

Annie *raised* $250K during the course of the game by winning several of the early challenges. Joan raised only something like $30K for hers. Annie won "the game" hands down, but Joan won Trumps' final challenge enough that he picked her. I can see the Donald sitting backstage and saying "Somebody please give me a reason NOT to pick the poker player".

Like I said before - it's all showbiz - it has nothing to do with business.

Absolutely wrong, it was all business for CA long term, and rivers has more money friends than duke; 100,000 of Annie's total came from howard. joan is a great asset for the donald, celebritywise, she has hollywood inside track and huge bucks behind.
Point being: Joan has better jokes and more boxoffice shine to middle America and will better help sell Donald and the show.

The finale centered around a fundraiser, and it's interesting that despite the fact that Joan Rivers only raised $150,830 and Annie Duke raised $465,725, Rivers was the 2009 Celebrity Apprentice Winner.

Simply put, money is important, but that's not all. Trump noted that Annie did a great job on charity integration. Joan won the other three criteria. Joan had better celebrities, better guest experience, and better Kodak integration. 3-2 win on the charity fundraiser.
