Insta Poker

The Insta Poker App is a great resource to learn live NLHE cash game strategy and tactics. You do have to pay for handpacks but they only start around $3-4.00 and is definitely worth it. I use it both to train when I have free time and to warm up before sitting at a table.

Topics range from Preflop to How to Play Suited Connectors and cover different difficulty levels. The betting lines and advice aren't the only way to play certain hands but it gives you a starting point in which you could deviate from as you improve.

I wonder why noone has mentioned the most basic freeware tool out there to learn about ranges and equity. It can't have to do something with it being linked to and distributed by a competitor, can it? Well, just in case I'll not provide a download link but simply name it. It is used and named so often in videos by pros that its name should be quite common: Equilab

Thanks, it sounds really interesting, share when it's ready!
For the meanwhile I downloaded both Poker Fighter and Insta Poker.
InstaPoker seems very pricey, they charge $4 for only 10 hands ! It's seems like the worst ROI in the world:)
Poker-Fighter has a lot of free content, but most of the content is locked for premium account. I wanted to know if anyone in the forum used their premium account and can vouch for that ? I don't want to waste more money on the wrong direction:)

Tried pokerfighter, its great if your a beginner and dont know anything about pre-flop ranges, and gives you some basic strategy like c-bet the flop, but the situations are very limited. One month is all you need to get through the content, but only get it if your a total beginner. A big letdown was not being able to play the whole hand with feedback.

What has really helped has been Advanced Poker Training, tons of content and scenarios and instant feedback/advice when your not sure what to do. It tracks your play and gives you recommedations on what to work on. So many features, I am very pleased so far with the service.

Good luck!

So Leakbuster was nice, but it only gave me general knowledge on what parts are my weaker parts. Also, I feel like the advice is too "generic" in the sense that it should show me different advice according to the stakes I play. For example, I might be folding to 3bets pre flop too much in middle stakes, but I feel that I'm not folding too much for Micros.

Actually the advice for leak buster adjusted based on the stakes you're playing. I use it on my own game still to this day to do checkups. It just makes the analysis part that much easier imho.

I use Advanced Poker Training for all my simulated play. Plus they offer great webinars to help your game.

I've got a membership to AdvancedPokerTraining.com. You can play games against computer opponents of all different skill levels. You can set up all sorts of stuff (only be dealt certain cards, only play a certain position, more passive opponents, more aggressive, etc.) Plus they've got all kinds of other training info and games.

I'm pretty new to poker, so it's been a big help. I don't know how it would be for someone of a higher skill level.

Take care.

Always remember,
no training app can be as good as live play.

There you get the real experience, neverless if u first loose some money, you should stay pretty even.

Apps can prepare you, but not for the real fights!

There is Advanced Poker Training, which has hands you can play, all different situations, and analyzes it. I'm just starting it. Seems pretty awesome.

I think you are better off using a free screen recording software, taping your sessions then re-watching and reviewing. good luck.

I worked on my preflop ranges using the charts and practice in Poker Fighter, I don't know how solid they are though. I was wondering if someone can validate them ?
Oh and by the way, I realized that Poker Fighter can also be played on a desktop!

https://www.poker-fighter.com

I personally prefer to use a mouse and a huge monitor when practicing for hours:)

Just checked this out. Pretty neat!! Thanks

At least at pokerstars there is a school that helps you learn and hone your skills in poker. Read books, play more. A different kind of way.

I would also recommend reading books and taking notes about your game. In your free time, read your notes about your shortcomings in the game, and try not to repeat them!!

Made the purchase for the intermediate subscription for PokerSnowie. Very interactive and it tells you what the best move is based on -EV in the given situation if you make a mistake. I found there is plenty of spots that I am checking or calling when making a small bet is the most optimal line.

Although I feel that it plays a little to tight @ Vpip16/ PFR14 , I do not doubt the information provided on what hands are slightly negative EV for the positions it plays.

I do not know how playing this GTO style will work out on the microstakes table, where a more exploitative strategy would be best, but this will teach you how to be very strong fundamentally.

Hello i am software developer and my hobby is poker. I was searching for such thing and could not get anything useful so i decided to build one myself. My idea is to build bots to play against on a python. Still in progress... will be available in 3 months. Will share to you if you interested. gl

Hey, I admire your dedication and confidence, but this seems like a huge project. I'm a fellow programmer, and I've thought about this kind of thing, but how would you go about doing this? What are you trying to achieve? A Poker bot is very vague. Do you want this bot to analyze hands to determine what the typical reg's ranges are in spots in a particular stake? PokerSnowie goes about AI this way, as solving 100BB 6-max cash games would be quite the difficult process.

But more power to you! I wish you luck.

Hello xRanieri it is a long story. First I found python equity calculator created by MIT. Then on one big poker site for heads up I found unbeattable ranges under 10 big blinds. I combine it together and created simple shove or fold game. For my surprise playing little tighter I crushed these unbeattable ranges. This is where I decided not to trust online materials. Next I switched to spins and created three players always going to showdown just to see how their starting hands equity change after flop turn river for the spin and go. Then one day I decided to add some ai in their play and this was the start of the project. I called it pokerSea as it is full of fishes and it seamed at the time as endless project. There will be 4 types of games. Headsup SpinAndGo cash6 Max and Mtt. Pokersea includes 54 boтs all named on fishes. They will play vs each other learn from their hands and change their styles. There is a leatherboard to see who is best. You will be able to cplay against these in all games and also to change style of some fish to test styles. First release will be available in January 2019. The goal is not really to solve a game just to see what kind of play will boys adopt and if it is beattable for human. All 54 fishes are separated in 4 player pools or styles named on color seas on earth. We will have white yellow red and black sea. Each fish is part of one of these 4 groups and will start with ranges of the group. After sessions each fish will learn from its own play and will change its style.

Hi I wanted to update that after training with the apps mentioned in this thread, I really saw improvement in my game. I can beat the 25NL games but still struggling in the 50NL games. I had some problems doings the transition from playing without any information on the villains, which this is what Poker Fighter trained me, to actually adjusting to different types of villains. When I went up the stakes, the villains became more aggressive and bluffy, so I had to adjust my game. In the bottom line, I think that the training apps are REALLY good for fundamentals, but it takes you up to a certain point where you need to use other training materials. Or maybe there are apps out there that fit 50NL - 200NL ? Does anyone know?

I hear a lot of talks about PIO Solver, but is it only suitable for much higher stakes than 50-200 ?

It is better to find a person who hits your limit, and ask him to train you.
