7.20? I'm reading it as he raises up to 4.50 - so we're not counting the initial raise twice. Which means I agree with Tyler's second equation. However, I haven't slept for a week so I could be wrong!

Oh and hi! Not dead, just still in process of moving - pool better be worth it!

Ugh. TYLER CHECK SKYPE.

You raised it up to $4.50, but your bet was already $0.60, so your raise costs an additional $3.90. The pot BEFORE you raise is $2.70 ($1.80 from villain + $0.60 from you + $0.30 blinds).

So we are risking $3.90 to win $2.70. Assume that we always lose when villain calls, so our winning % = our FE. (Therefore our losing % = 1 - FE)

Then,
EV = $2.70xFE - $3.90x(1 - FE)

And to be breakeven we need EV to be >= 0. So, doing alebras...
$2.70xFE - $3.90x(1 - FE) >= 0
$2.70xFE - $3.90 + $3.90xFE >= 0
($2.70 + $3.90)xFE >= $3.90
($6.60)xFE >= $3.90
FE >= ($3.90)/($6.60)
FE >= 0.59090909 = 59.09%

So we see that we can shortcut and just say that FE >= (Our bet)/(Our bet + Current pot). Another way to think of it is FE >= (What we risk)/(What we risk + what we stand to gain).

It's basically just glorified pot odds (well, it's all EV equations, really :p).

You tried to count the $0.60 twice. You counted it once in the pot (Tyler's first bet, part of the $2.70) and again in Tyler's raise (in his total raise to $4.50). Don't count money more than once :) See how your number is magically lower? It's cause you made imaginary money! :D

That is a BRUTAL commute! Why not save up some $$ (sorry, no pound key on this American keyboard, can't be assed to look up the alt function...:p) and move closer to work? The money you would save in gas alone would be worth it. I want to cry when I go to the pumps here in California (over $4 a gallon), but I know you probably pay twice that. :bawling: I used to commute an hour each way some years back, but finally moved closer to work, and it took away soooo much stress. "Oh wow! I don't have to get up before the ass-crack of dawn to get to work on time! Weee!" "Oh cool! When I get home, I actually have time to have a life after work? SWEET!" Ask your boss for something more challenging? But the real point is that you're getting paid a decent wage, yes? Just try to keep that in mind when you're bored as ****. :D

what's that and what's it for lol?
http://www.shaving-shack.com/safety-razor-starter-kit-is.html

I have TERRIBLE irritation and stuff on my neck from shaving with the mach3's, fusions etc been looking online for how to sort it and a lot of people say that the old school shaving with soap/brush/single blade razor is the way to go for a comfortable shave, bit of a learning curve to start with but with some perseverance its much improved. Plus the cost of razors is much much cheaper, coming in at like 30p per razor over £2.50+ per cartridge for my fusion.

Thought I'd take the plunge and buy a kit, paying off our credit card atm so didnt want to take money from wages that could go on there, so took it out of stars instead, might give me some inspiration when I'm shaving and know that poker paid for it lol

Do it, save him loads of money in the future and do a bit for the environment :D All razors that work for those can be recycled!

Yeah it's ridiculous how expensive Gilette razors are. You'll save money in the long run.

What's the badger hair brush all about lol, just to brush the trimmings off? Surely water would do.

It builds a better lather if you use a brush, which let's the blade glide smoother

wow chat has took a turn for the worse, a bunch of old men discussing razors. Hopefully vanq can save us with one inspirational post before the next decade.
