I think that the check-raise would have made me think more possibly about a top pair and a possible flush draw than just an open straight, and with the all-in preflop i would have considered the top pair a certainty. Considering that he had just 6 outs (8 theorically ) for the straight and at least 2 for a set. Not an hand that i would go all in with

Does anybody play it as part of 8 game? if so what strategy do you use? do you STILL just wait for really strong hands bareing in mind only get 6 hands per game. I am a winning 8 game player. I win well at razz stud stud hi lo omaha hi lo but dont win at omaha . Maybe im just too loose. i dont raise with rubbis hands but i do tend to call with ace high flush etc like i called a raise with a 6 suited 6 5. should i be tightening up a bit ?

In 8 game I play extremely nitty during the beginning. And in PLO I play only top hands. If the whole round goes by without me betting or playing I don't sweat it. I focus in on my strongest games. If you are a losing player in PLO then maybe yea, you are plying to wide a range. Tighten up and see what happens.

I apologize if this has been discussed but I'm just wondering what you guys do with the player to your right that raises EVERY hand just to increase the pot? My strategy is to play tight and only call with good hands. I will reraise with a high PP double suited type hand to attempt and isolate the maniac. For what its worth, it seems to work pretty well when I do venture into the cash game scene (I'm mostly a SNG player) Am I wrong with taking this approach? Others have different strategies?

The other strategy is to start 3 betting him firmly with a slighlty wider than average range. You might find that he shuts down pretty easily when he figures you have a better hand, and in fact this will also make him stop raising 100% since he figures you are messing up that strategy.

Of course the art of adjusting like this is easier said than done as you have to do it with consideration of the other players in the hand, and must be ready to let go or get it all in much more easily on marginal hands later.

This is much better than having him on your left fwiw... you can profit with either strategy.

Well ,apart the fact that a manic in plo doesn t last long, you could even trick him (but be very very cautious) when you hit a good flop,check-raising , i ve seen that many times they become more confused and they calm down with a check-raise, and if he catches something then it s time to push it.
Though i had a similar situation at a Hi/Lo 0.05/0.1 cash game table and at last he called an all in pre flop with 58KQ rainbow, against my AA26 double suited, he catched a KQQ,obviously. But after 5 min he had lost 20 $ and left (after various check-raise)

I like AA only when there suited but much prefer a rundown like 910jq suited prefer but not suited is ok 2. Plo is the new trend so im starting to play it more. I believe PLO is going to be the new game everyone plays because more action and your never "dead".

You got position, no need to 3 bet more or to play tight. Call more often and just outplay him postflop easy money. Position is the important thing here which makes anybody who can play decent postflop an automatic winner.

That hand is not as strong as it looks and please tell me that was LO8 and not PLO8 and no idea why we are betting any of these streets.
