Im currently playing 10nl, I am rolled for 25nl but because Ive been up and down a lot my aim is to play 50k hands at 10nl then evaluate before I move back up. I know people say to move up but Id rather know how profitable I am first.

Lets bring this thread back to life! Can anyone help with opening hand ranges? I feel like this is so essential and something that I lack so much. Like I have an idea of whether Im usually behind or ahead in terms of their range but would like to improve. Im going to load some examples (as soon as I can figure out how to use my hand replayer in PT3) and then hopefully we can all discuss villains OR based on position, HUD stats, etc. :)

Nice idea pt, I'm half working on ranges too atm....I think before we can work out villians ranges we need to come up with our ranges first and also stealing ranges in the btn, co and sb....then there is 3bet ranges etc....I dont know how ranges would work OTF, maybe just read stats v villians c-bet????.......

This is a basic guideline that I think JC hooked me up with on a thread one time and its pretty much lead me to about 15/12 VPIP/PFR.

utg/utg+1: 22+/AQo+/AQs
mp1/mp2: 22+/AJo/KQs
hj/co: 22+/ATo+/98s/KJo+/QJo
btn: Ax/22+/broadways (forget the rest but i think it was like 40% of hands so like J8o etc)
sb: 22+, ATs+, 9Ts+ KJo
bb: 22+, ATs+, 9Ts+ KJo

But like everything is still dependent on the table dynamics cuz Im not going to open 33 in EP with everyone is only about 100bbs or less and theres a lot of 3 betting. If the table is super passive Ill open this. And i think what JC meant for ranges is that this is like a guideline for opening ranges meaning that no one has already opened the pot up.

Im not sure if you mean like hands we should 3-bet with or hands we put villains on when they 3-bet. personally, i try to only 3 bet IP but I do it with two types of hands... 1). hands Im trying to extract more value with and 2). hands that Im not actually faced with a difficult decision if villain 4-bets (so basically 3-bets that im just trying to steal or steal on flop with a c-bet if villain flats our 3-bet).

I'll dig up some hands and post for pre-flop and flop decisions for hand ranges but it wont be until like Thursday cuz of exams!

^ This and another thing. At micros because the field is so large table selection is a big asset. Find the worse players and take their money. You do not even need to think there. Simply follow this rule "Small hands small pots, big hands big pots". Do not get involved in big pots trying to outplay the fish. Just make a hand and get payed. Punish the limpers, avoid the regs, w8 for big hands against maniacs.
In time when you will become confortable with the postflop play you can go to a 24-25/20-22 VPIP /PFR.

Yeah this is a guideline for hands to open raise with.

Yep still playing 5nl deepstacked. No new challenges, just playing :)

It's going well I'm beating it at 5BB/100 over ~60K hands now. bankroll is $415 so could easily play 10nl with that but I like playing deep against fish so I'm going to carry on till my BR is $500 then think about shot-taking at some higher limits like 16 and 25.

nice one, yeah i like your idea of deepstacked play especially if there are fish with big stacks at the table, you can take advantage....im finding myself reloading to 200bb's if i spot a fish at my table now....they are so easy to spot even without a hud lol......

so are you happy with your game?...do you think you could mix it at 16-25nl and crush?.....how long do you think it will take you to get up to $500?....gl :D

Hoping to get up to $500 in the next couple of weeks. I'm pretty happy with my game but there is still a lot of room for improvement of course. One of my biggest issues in the past has been tilt, which I'm dealing with it a lot better now. As long as I don't tilt I think I will be fine at 25nl. I've played about 75K hands of 25nl in the past and there are still plenty of fish if you table select.

cool, it wont take you long then eh....how many tables do you play?....and yeah there's always room for improvement no matter how good you are imo, once you stop learning then you will only go so far....

tilt is a nightmare i thought i would be able to control it but i cant, i accept that now and when it happens again im just going to leave the table and cool off......then return with a new positive attitude......certainly dont want to be going up and down losing/breaking even all the time....if i lose a couple of buy ins then tough luck, no point in chasing it back and making terrible play decisions in the process..........lets say no to tilt :)

Both villains were fish above 40/xx. On flop MP2 have $4 left so probably should bet like$2-$3 there (probably don´t make a difference anyway)), but i decide to stop and go preflop so i don´t even look how much he have left. runner runners on a 3 way pot always piss me off, so i stop.

Ended session like $3 up after 1000 hands but man, come on.

I probably need to change the hotty : /

What make me laugh is that my Heater last week run for like 600 hands and was card distribution only not suck ups, now running crappy last 5000 hands or more lol.

I know is nothing, people run bad for like 20-50k hands, so i just have to keep cool and keep playing, but not right now, need to take a break.

I better go make and eat this beautys.:)

Hahaha I thought you were gonna eat a hot babe there for a minute :D ...... I think I would be pissed if I ran bad for more than 500 hands tbh, I dont know if that's realistic or what but I feel the need to control it somehow and make things happen to change the downswing pattern to a positive or break even one in times like that.....you deffo need to be calm, cool and collected in this game and try and maintain a consistancy....because 1 mistake leads into 2, 3 etc....they all add up........if we play to the best of our abilities all of the time downswings shouldn't be too heavy.......@pocket, I'm not running bad man, I'm up 0.40c for the month haha yeaaaah baby :D

Lol, I've not bothered about clearing mine yet, deposited $10, doubled up and stuck it back on stars....will prob visit it in the future but I can't seem to get my hud set up on it...that in itself makes me fully tilt

Call of the day here for me, the Villain was an aggressive fish who had recently lost big pots.

PokerStars Hand #89943199096: Hold'em No Limit ($0.05/$0.10 USD) - 2012/11/28 15:12:16 WET [2012/11/28 10:12:16 ET]

Yoshimiii collected $15.32 from pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot $16.04 | Rake $0.72
Board [Kc 9s 2c 3d 7c]
Seat 1: malaeem folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 2: Majdana (button) folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 3: Yoshimiii (small blind) showed [Ks Ts] and won ($15.32) with a pair of Kings
Seat 4: Fast Wili (big blind) folded before Flop
Seat 5: Fernandobio folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 6: rolu8283 showed [Ac Td] and lost with high card Ace

I felt as though he was going to bluff here a bigger % of the time than have a flush, especially since it's an over bet and he would bet smaller usually for value.
