Was new to the table which was the reason for the big raise, decided to see if it would throw people at all. After I made the call he sarcastically said that he was sure the call was +ev, I said I was sure that bluffing the river with K high was +ev and he didn't say anything after that :)

On a side note, keep running into higher flushes - 3 today! One of them flopped too, that hurt :(

Seriously the only kind of hero call is when you make it with J high.

Hmmm... going to revise my target for the month - 60000 hands now, I've already played 11000 :D . Summer job not starting for another 2 weeks, time to grind!

Before June I'd only played 30000 hands so far this year, hopefully when I get my exam results in a week I won't have any resits to do, I'm done with studying I wanna play poker lol

*SIGH*

I can't bloody win! Last ok winning session was a month ago rofl. So after a break-even may, starting with a losing June, yay me!

I wonder if the reason is that I play too long session? I was crushing 20NL in April playing 2 hour sessions, 2 sessions/day, now that i play 4 hour session I'm losing...anything like that happened to you guys before?

Here's my usual swingy graph for the day!

Definitely try shorter sessions. For 99% of people playing for 4 hours is -EV. Your brain starts getting fuzzy, poker when you're doing it right should be mentally tiring.

Try Going back to your 2 hour sessions. You may even want to try hour long sessions to really try and keep sharp but if you feel comfortable at 2 hours then stay there. Grinding I've heard is exactly like building muscle. You don't go out and try and lift something you can't lift. You do something you can manage but tests you. Then you get stronger and eventually you'll breeze thorugh 2+ hours. Doubling your session time is a sure fire way of losing money though.

Ya, me and CP had this conversation before, I always try to jump ship when I start to notice my concentration fade, although I am slowly putting in 3-4 hour sessions myself successfully, but charged up on Coffee, well fed and well flushed beforehand!

Anyhoo, yesterday I ran 6 buy ins below EV. Today, well... I think the holy man has greeted me personally! I am actually the son of god! Definitely no whinging allowed at the very least until the end of the month

Personal highlights

AK > AA
KK > AA
AA > K8 with chips in on the turn, I 3b in position pre, donk calls out of position, flats the 89x flop, K turn, chips go in, river 9 to pair the board for a higher two pair!

Down 3 buy-ins for the month after today. All in 3 times for 100+BB stacks with best hand only to lose to the river. Never had worse than top 2 pair, just getting drawn out on. All in EV is about break even due to a couple bad moves I made earlier in the month that I got lucky with that started out -EV. Hopefully as the month goes on, it will turn around, been playing nearly all of it at Rush, and it's fun, just hasn't been working for me the last 2 days.

Nooo, even though HEM supports € It still gets confused on the session screen, and the conversion is a little out, I'm up €185 for the session, also only 51 of the hands were in NL10. Even so pretty happy with 9 buy ins in 3 and a half hours :D

Lol I kinda wish it was 26 buy-ins haha, that would be so sick. Well I'm down somewhere between 10 and 20 buy-ins this month, but that's cause I suck.

I think WV would agree with me that if those babies were not attacking hat, he would have left them alone. Purely self defense.

Attempted Hero Call? Not sure what else he could have though I had that he could beat besides two missed broadway cards. He even took the full time and tanked before the call on this. Cracked me up.

The open limp re-raise OOP must've scared this guy &/or he min-raised w/ total ish. I realize this is only 10NL but I still don't understand why some players do what they do

Only way to play mid pkt prs in EP imo :top:

Key ideas I forgot over the last few months:

1. Let other players make mistakes.
2. Value bet fish w TP or better.
3. Don't pay off fish.
4. If bluff catching, determine whether Villain is at all capable of running a bluff before making a hero call.
5. Value betting >>> bluff catching.

I wrote a blog post recently about that very phenomenon. :)

Excellent blog post, exactly, yup, right on the money. I realized that I was forgetting these basic ideas while watching a BalugaWhale vid series on DC ("Coaching Kristy", excellent, won't directly translate to everyone's game per se cuz he's so incredibly loose, but hammers these points home) - I get so caught up in adding "new" ideas/tactics that I don't rehearse stuff I already "know" nearly enough.

Played a few cash games yesterday, won about $8 total. Not much but it still put my bankroll from $70-$78. Would have been $93 but I gave $15 to someone.
