I'm always re-raising the river with this hand... Your almost always infront here and I believe you lost a lot of money by not check-raising. Should've shoved the rest in and you had him hook line and sinker!... apart from that nice pot but could've won more.

He cant go over the top here because most of the time he will be called only by hands that beat him and he might also be faced with a reraise.

This and the fact that villains river bet sizing looks like value.

Villain is bluffing on the river here. Theres is no way he calls a shove. He also has {QQ, QJs, QTs, JJ,TT, 22} for up to 12combos that beat me. The 8-16 combos of KQ/AQ are unlikely to fold but when I check they're going to bet for me when I look like KK+ and I don't have to worry about villan bluffing me off the best hand with a river raise.

I've actually heard arguments from players better than myself advocating checking your entire range on cards that hit your opponents range far better than your own.

Yeah, Jack what's his name (didn't really know him, so no disrespect... just can't remember his name) on 2+2 got killed by scooter out there about 2 years ago. It just looks like a huge mistake to try and transport yourself that way based on what I've seen.

Hope you're doing ok.

yeah idk much about Thailand but honestly riding motorcycles in first-world countries is dangerous enough. Few years back I got into an accident in a car, I think I've told you but hit a deer on the highway. I walked away with a small bruise but if I were on a motorcycle it's pretty doubtful I'd be alive today. I used to really want one but I'd rather not every accident be pretty much auto gg living a normal life and a significant chance of dying.

UK population: ~65million. Thai population: ~65million
Annual UK motorcyclist deaths: 1. Annual Thai motorcyclist deaths: 40.
:p

I think I've got myself a partial refund, should be able to move back in to the city. May or may not drive in the city, defo not going near the highway.

wtf thought motorcyclist deaths would be way higher for both. I guess serious injuries would be a lot higher.

at least 25000 deaths happen each year in thailand on motorcycles. the stats above are probably proportional.

I found this hand interesting from a balance perspective.
I actually can't find a better hand to bluff. There is not a single draw in my range the entire hand. So do I either have no bluffing range from the turn onwards or do I take the blockers to AQ/AK and fire 3streets.

Been slacking on this since the crash I've had to take it easy the past week. Getting around by red truck which is pretty much a taxi that picks up other people on the way. Only costs 40p.

I moved in to a set of three houses with 8 other poker players, my house is pictured below with the view from my window. It was a nice area but on the highway just outside the city. I prefer living in the city than a suburb.

I moved back out to the city after my crash. Got a much nicer view than last time. Haven't been up to much recently but healing up good. I've got the lo kroi festival sunday and will be planning some trips up in to the mountains for the next week or two along with arranging a flight to the Islands for December so I should pick up on posting again.

Here's a few hands from the last two days. I've been trying hard to bluff in spots where I'm normally very value heavy.

$0.50/$1 Zoom No Limit Holdem

Stacks:
UTG ($111.60) 112bb
UTG+1 ($222.06) 222bb
CO ($180.97) 181bb
BTN ($118.43) 118bb
SB ($117.94) 118bb
Deco354 (BB) ($441.72) 442bb

Pre-Flop: ($1.50, 6 players) Deco354 is BB :6d4: :7d4:
2 folds, CO raises to $3, 2 folds, Deco354 calls $2

Flop: :6h4: :8c4: :qs4: ($6.50, 2 players)
Deco354 checks, CO bets $4, Deco354 calls $4

Turn: :2d4: ($14.50, 2 players)
Deco354 checks, CO bets $10, Deco354 calls $10

River: :ts: ($34.50, 2 players)
Deco354 checks, CO bets $24, Deco354 raises to $60, CO folds

Final Pot: $82.50

Deco354 wins $115.70 (net +$38.70)

CO lost $41

The first hand I'm not sure I like, that river hits villain better than it does me, I don't have J9 or QQ, whilst he has 19combos of them. Given his numerous nut combos I'm not even sure I'd want to ship the weaker sets, 22 is looking at 25combos of better hands I'd need KK+/QT to never fold and for a few AQ combos to come along. It's possible, I'm not very good at gauging how light regs call down here. If I'm shipping 22 I'm defo ok with this.

Deco354 (BB) ($100) 100bb

Pre-Flop: ($1.50, 6 players) Deco354 is BB :9d4: :5d4:
4 folds, SB raises to $3, Deco354 raises to $9, SB calls $6

Flop: :6h4: :jd4: :qd4: ($18, 2 players)
SB checks, Deco354 bets $11.35, SB calls $11.35

Turn: :kc4: ($40.70, 2 players)
SB checks, Deco354 bets $25, SB calls $25

River: :5c4: ($90.70, 2 players)
SB checks, Deco354 goes all-in $54.65, SB folds

Final Pot: $90.70

Deco354 wins $142.55 (net +$42.55)

SB lost $45.35

2nd hand I'd never have normally bluffed as I've a pet hate for bluffing busted flush draws as people love to hero vs busted draws. But I've a very wide value range here yet don't bluff this turn very often.

This is the view from the new apartment in the city I've moved to. Very nice view of Chiang Mai and the mountains.

I don't think any of my Loi Krathong photos have come out well. My camera cannot handle photos in the dark, well it probably can and I'm using it wrong.

Hi Deco loving the thread, just wondered how easy you found it getting your apartment. I'm heading out to Thailand two weeks today (woohoo) and will be moving to Chiang Mai after a few days in Bangkok and then a week or so around the islands. Was planning on finding a hotel and then sourcing somewhere to live after I got there. Any tips are welcome. Hope your feeling better after your near death experience on the scooter.

When I came here in October it was fairly easy. When I moved back from my house during the festival season mid November everywhere was sold out or raising it's prices.

November-February is high season in Chiang mai. It's only rained once whilst I've been here and it's sunny every day without being ridiculously hot.

I'm staying at the Bliss for 12000 Baht/month which is a bit steep but it's a nice location. I know of other people staying at the dome which is a little less posh but a better location and the smith which is much cheaper at 7500 and probably has the best location of them all.

I was also looking in to a place called the varinda which was a startling 4500Baht yet had very good reviews and a good location but it was sold out when I tried to go for it. How long are you looking to stay for?

Not sure on length of stay minimum of 3 months a friend of mine has decided to sack his job in so he's coming out as well now.

I was seriously considering the smith residence as you say location is good. We originally thought about two bed apartments but from what I've seen there well expensive for good locations.

Not sure I'm looking to pay 12000 a month. Did you look at the smith residence and were there rooms available. I'll have a look at the varinda might get lucky when we get over there.

All those prices I listed are cheaper when you take out 3months.

I'll list the places I looked at when I get back home. Things get super cheap when you live out on the highway but I don't think it's worth it.

Cheers for getting prices. Not planning on hiring a scooter so looking at staying as close to the centre as possible.

The smith sounds like your best bet. The bliss dome and varinda are next to nummin road which is full of restraunts and bars but the moat which the smith is located on is defo what I'd regard as the city centre.
You can also check out chiang mai rentals (google it). You can get really good value apartments on there from privaye landlords although most are looking for longterm deals and unlike the serviced apartments your more likely to get scammed.

I've pm'd you my skype address if you've any questions. Oh ye and exchange your money in thailand not at hone as you get much better rates.
