As you say, there are pros and cons of both formats. Tournaments are exciting, when you run deep, because then there is huge upside potential depending on the field size. But tournaments are also frustrating, when you run bad and fail to cash 30 times in a row. Or when you play for 3 hours only to bust on the bubble or score a relatively pointless min-cash. Cash games give flexibility, and you can table select. But they are also very much “production line poker”. Its the same spots over and over again, so after a while its easy to lose motivation.
