When you lose big tournament you should take the brake for couple minutes that will help you to relax and avoid tilt.

This text is very interesting, but I want to complement it with something that makes me very frustrated and I am fighting against this mistake and I am sure that I will improve to the point of committing it again. I always reach the semi-final table with enough Stack to reach the final table. More unfortunately I can not take a break, sometimes I'm first in the tournament and I keep wrapping myself in several hands until I lose my stacks. It is very important that you know the time to take a break so you can get better placement in the tournament. I'm struggling against this and I recognize it as a very serious mistake.
Man, i have same problem every day i reach last tables and then i stop getting good cards and everyone raising, shoving all ins and i start getting into pots and lose my stack, like today 1h ago my stack was 9 of 85 left players and after hour of folding i start playing and lose end up 85placed... Or yesterday was again my stack was 6 of 22lefts and i manage to lost it...

Ill tell ya

Just can't seem to catch a break. Flop the nut flush draw and don't get it, flop trips and lose to a straight or flush. Just got knocked out of the betonlne lucky dollar tourney with the nut full house to 4 of a kind. When is it time to say you can't win??

Go to the casino and see how your luck is,Im sure its the site and the players your playing. Remmeber your on a programmed poker site if its online.

Just keep playing through the variance. It will be your time. But keep studying you may find ways to avoid certain situations

Sometimes it’s just nice the to take a break. Mentally I can’t tell you how good this is for your game. Take a month or so off and come back.

If I play a few tournaments and they all go the same way then I'll usually call it quits for the night and come back the next day fresh. Grinding/enduring the run bad has its merits but I think its smarter to let it go and start on solid ground rather then risk blowing through more buy-ins.

In my experience poker players quit when either the fun or the money runs out. If poker begins making you angry and miserable it’s time for a break. Sometimes it’s just for a day and you gain perspective and can get back to it. Other times it takes considerably more time to move past the pain.

On the money side of things, I have set myself a limit of 3 buy-ins for any one session. If I get stacked 3 times, I’m calling it a day. It doesn’t matter why I got stacked, that’s the trigger that says time to go. Somedays it’s runbad and sometimes I just don’t have it. Regardless, that’s the point where my money runs out.

As you can see. Some have limits and those who do not. I feel that is determined by the fate that has touched you play. When you're winning you do not want to stop you take advantage of every play, if you're in the tournament you want to play to the last tab. When you go out? CV you put your own limit but do not let it be led by negative emotions that will affect your future game

I know most people have been in the same situation and have also felt the same as you. I am one of those people. Thomas Edison once said, " Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." You have learned so much about poker already, do you believe giving up now is the best solution? Find a way to win. Remember why you started playing poker in the first place. I believe that if a person works as hard as they can, to the best of their own abilities, in whatever field they wish to build a financially comfortable lifestyle, they are already successful. High hopes. Dream big. Conquer.

I only take money for what I want to do. I tourney buy in(re-buy if applicable)

Don't play much cash at the moment but even then, it is only for one-two buy ins

Whenever I get on bad luck streak I try and switch to lower buy ins or free rolls. Even the best players in the world go on bad luck streaks. They don't last forever.

If you have lost enough money that is significant to you and/or have been losing for more than 6 months.

Been there done that:D
I have lost similar games and money.
I also quit poker real money for a long long time.
After so many years I started playing real money again since last month and boom Zero balance again.

Probably not a good cash game / real money player I guess;)

I have been asking myself the same question. I can't hit any of my draws even though villains are giving me the right price to chase, and villains keep hitting theirs despite the fact that they should be priced out by my bets. I have lost more times with AA and KK in the last couple weeks than I can count. Have only won once with them (not counting the times I just take the blinds.)

My personal favorite was losing a preflop all-in with KK vs 88 and QQ. Both villains flopped a set, which was particularly hurtful because QQ was short stacked and the side pot with 88 was quite large. Somehow I came away the only loser on that one! Haha Also lost preflop all-in with KK vs KK. Variance is a B. Feels bad man.

that's sounds like a tough run. I tell ya I started watching some master class videos and multitudes of other poker videos and strategy books and it has helped me avoid that by a lot. I was having the same string more or less and I just took a step back and concentrated on learning not to be as aggressive and really think things through about the story the other players are telling. avoid big pots. limp in more often instead of raising etc.

when you bet big it forces the other players to play their best game. you profit on mistakes.

that's a betting problem. should almost never be in preflop with KK QQ JJ don't fold them either but try to avoid allins preflop AA is only a 4 to 1 over 2/3 off preflop

Thanks for the advice, but I was a 65% chance to win here in a huge 3 way pot. I'm taking that every time. The 88 open raised, the QQ shoved over the top all in with the short stack, I reshoved to try to isolate with KK. Pretty standard stuff I think. I'm not laying down KK there, and I'm not calling the QQ shove then folding if/when 88 reshoves. Even if 88 just flats here, on a Q8x rainbow flop and me being first to act, the rest of the money is likely going in after the flop one way or another. Its just an unfortunate result this time, but I don't feel in any way that I played it wrong.

Additionally, KK is literally the second best starting hand. If you are "almost never in preflop with KK" seems like people can just shove on you all day long.

quitting is for quitters... In all seriousness though for me the time to quit is when I just dont enjoy the game anymore or the grind of the everyday gameplay. Maybe over time I develop other hobbies that end up taking more time and ends up being a new passion I put my time into. Also if it becomes a financial strain or something out of hand then obviously it's time to throw in the towel.

Not at all was the right call... just a suggestion if you’re feeling a little beat down some new perspective can help

And no I don’t get run over I just pick my spots my bets are the same size reguardless of AA or 78 no reads from me I call pushes when I have a great hand I bluff when I feel I can and I show down when I have to

I play no more than 2 hours in a row, although in tournaments I played for 7-9 hours. When you're angry, it's best not to play
