Seriously, they are a waste of time, where you even lose money if you win. Most of the FRs on poker sites have a 50 to 100.00 prize pool, where the top person gets 7 to 10.00.

All the Cons-

- They take forever, even longer than most tourneys, because they have several levels of late registration. I've seen some with close to 40 levels of late registration, because the freeroll offered re-buy ins.

- It will take a long time to get ITM, and when you do get ITM, it will be for pennies. I have never won a FR, but I have finished ITM, where I was like top 30 or something, and I won 85 cents or so. I played a 1.00 buy-in tourney with a prize pool of 1000.00. I finished top 40, I believe, and I won 3.80. I played that same tourney again, finished top 5, and won 35.00 dollars. Top 5 in a FR is around 3 or 4 dollars. I got more money for similar finishes in the buy-in tourneys.

- You also losing money ( time is money) on them, because you're putting forth tons of mental labor over long periods of time, for either pennies on the dollar, or for no money at all.

- The hand play from villains is Kamikazee style, because the game is free, and the buy-ins are micro cheap. From the start of the tourney, you will be forced to dodge shoves on 1 out of every 6 to 7 hands or so.

Maybe the exclusive club FR are worth it, but they are still insanely time consuming just to get a low payout.

People will recommend FRs for the purpose of gaining real play experience. But I disagree with that as well. You can get the same experience by playing with play money, or playing against people on a poker phone App.

you say playing to win pennies is a waste of time/money, yet somehow playing with FAKE chips for NO money is better? lol... that makes no sense. and there's no kamikazee players with fake chips or in real $ trnys? that's false as well.
not all freerolls are equal of course, but they're a way to get hands in, and even get a bankroll going without making a deposit. most of the freerolls i play are in the money by 1st break. some even faster.. on 888 anyway. they have 200$ freerolls about 6 times a day + the level freerolls up to $1000, and others.. and the private freerolls as well.
considering all the bots, multiple accounts and straight up cheating going on in online poker, i'd rather "waste" my time with them, than waste my hard earned money. when i play real $, it's with money i earned from freerolls..
i used to think like you too... not anymore. if you don't like them, don't play them i guess.

Freerolls are perfect for watching youtube-movies or just doing other stuff at the same time.

I think they have served me a great purpose. I hadn't played online since black Friday. The games have changed a lot in that time. I played a few hundred of both large field and private freerolls to try out strategy as well as work to build a bankroll.

The large field freerolls can be a waste of time as it is brutal to play for 5 or 6 hours and scratch out .08 for your time. The smaller private freerolls are a much better way to go and the payouts are more significant.

I ended up just depositing after getting through what I wanted to do. I still play some of the freerolls that offer quite a bit of value. Normally those are a second table, but still have fun playing in them and getting free money.

I think FR is good for those just starting out, but it has to come with some joint study. If you have any study materials that will advise you on how to act, it is a good experience.

Freerolls are fun and a great place to experiment with your game! When on a downswing I like to switch over to freerolls keeps you in the game without having to dip into your funds!

Thanks freerolls...👍👍

Whoever says they are a waste of time is very wrong, and it all depends on what level one is on. If you are a player with a large bankroll, it will obviously be a waste of time to play those types of tournaments, but for anyone who starts or wants to accumulate points and money in their piggy bank, it does them good to compete in free tournaments. And in some way or another every player will return to play in them, even the one who touched glory.
As the saying goes, everything that rises must fall :D:D:D

Many say that it is a waste of time due to the low prize, but the intention is to train and spend time, for the time that you are in some important event to be more acclimated

It's not a waste of time, but it also depends on what kind of freerol it is. Because if there are very small prizes and many entrants play differently than if you played with a high stake.

Someone says it that I can understand.
It means that the equity value is much lower than paid tournament due to a lot of participants.
However it´s valueble if a participant can get in the menoy due to free entrance.
Therefore, it´s important to seek valueble tournaments.

I wouldn't say they are all a waste of time. The cards chat ones seem pretty profitable. The casino org one on the other hand is. I spent 4 hours twice this week playing in that one and both times there was like 6000+ fields and I got down to 67th and 78th and got nothing for my efforts because it was something like 54 paid. The way I look at it though is I got to do something I love for 4 hours and almost made some money doing it as a bonus.

The more hands you play the better you're going to get.. I get to practice while not having to pay? I'll take that every time. Finish ITM, even better

It is true that freerolls are tedious, long and often not very productive in terms of profits, but many times they helped me form my bank. You also train a lot of patience. regards

For me it’s good to play for something, not only for chips but for the gift of infos and skills. See or feel how other players move and try to learn from them or teache some f..... to get better in poker on&offline.

Hmm.. I have never played in a forum freeroll, because, you know, you have to put up "ELEVENTY" million posts in order to gain access to the password.

Yeah, I'm talking about you, Cardchat.

Well that pretty much sums it up doesn't it? You end with a sarcastic comment about CardsChat because apparently 75 posts is too steep a hill to climb (is that what this is all about?).

However, like others who appear on these boards with a complete lack of self awareness, here you are on CardsChat knocking free rolls, when free rolls are in essence what drives the site (?). Staff working 7 days a week to provide members with the best selection of private free rolls available.

CardsChat 'organizes' at bare minimum a few hundred dollars, day in and out, for members to build and supplement bankrolls. Over the course of the year this amounts to tens of thousands of dollars.

I think it safe to say the majority of members deeply appreciate the effort involved. As the matter of playing free rolls is put in a negative light by a handful of members one can only conclude a tiny minority don't appreciate the effort.

Which would beg the question why even bother with membership?

You just exaggerated the entire post. The comment about Cardschat was tongue and cheek.

Also, that is my opinion on freerolls, which was a mature, clear presentation, and everyone else gave a mature clear response.

So, lets keep that going if you don't mind. There will always be several different opinions.
he did not exaggerate nor was your comment "tongue in cheek";)
it was pure whining about the needed post count ;)
we all have a right to our opinion, and from the mature clear responses,
clearly yours was not agreed upon.
so back to the question "why bother joining a freeroll forum"?
I won't be too rude because many of us start out with that lack of understanding and grow to love CC and the freerolls,
you will too :) good luck
