Mate, I will tell you something. I have many accounts. I don't know ...Maybe 110 at this time...I had an acc in Stars. A female one :D. But everything was perfect. They can't tell me nothing about this. And when I made a cashout, they cut 10% form my money. "Why?", "Because...because your broke the rules". "Which rules?". YOU BROKE THE RULES, DO YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEM!?|. "No, no, just asking...". "Ok, move on then..".

This is the reallity. The "tanking", "stalling", whatever, this thing...This is a bad thing. You will suffer. Don't mess with this guys, this jews. They will ban you. Lower you voice...

Cheers...

Fair play definitely. You can spend the available time as you wish, it's not your problem that someone is in a hurry.

The time is there for you to use as you please if the guy in a hurry wants to speed the game up he should just go all in every hand till he's out or better yet sit out!! Just my opinion

All fair

So I was at the final table and at the same time I was multi tabling. I was in no rush to go anywhere. So instead of playing my hands normally I just slow roll every hand with all my timer.

By the time we went down to 3 player, 1 of them I know was in a rush to go. He had 30BB, vs me 40BB and a small stack 8BB, and he was just shove or fold, with a shove or reshove rate of 70%. Since he was in a rush and I was not I just milked the timer to the max each hand to slow the game down.

From my perspective I have no reason to speed up the game, I am already playing in 2 other tournaments.

I read other posts on this thread and agree that slowing down the game can be poor sportsmanship. However, there are HUDs and other third party software which you use to your advantage, why not the clock? Alls fair in love and war.

Mate many times I slow down and wait for the timer to go off, especially if ante is large and multi table tournament. I find that tactic very useful to enter into the rewards and to go higher position than usually, especially if your stack isn't big.
I don't see foul play there, you did everything by the rules. You shouldn't care if someone is in the rush to go or not because many times I was the one who was in the rush and ofc no one cared.
People oftentimes sitout when they built up their stack, it's not foul play, it's by the rules.
At least that's my opinion.

i mean there was something wrong with doing that then it wouldn't be an option - play how you play - poker is a mental game - i often do this just most times it is not on purpose xD

I've encountered enough situations, both online and in real life, when a player is in a hurry but wouldn't mind playing if he/she had a massive chip advantage. In other words, they go all in almost every hand and end up busting out early. While it doesn't effect them because they were in a hurry to do something else anyway, it affects everyone else at the table except the player who beat them, because the player who beat them is now the one with the massive chip advantage and is therefore harder to play against. Playing no-limit so it's in the rules, it just feels like it's against the spirit of the game somehow.
Doesn't answer the OP question I know! I guess it's the opposite of the "stalling" scenario and if this is allowed and isn't called in to question or frowned upon, neither should the OP's play

In poker you must take risk and you become in the best liar to win every times.
You use fair play to the opponents o the table but you want to win forever

A very interesting discussion. In my opinion, we use whatever tools we have available, including the time bank, to help us win. Whether this 'strategy' has any value is questionable, as far as the game goes, but does have some merit in pushing the opponent to tilt.
Using the timer, when short stacked, and trying to reach the money, is a valid strategy as far as I am concerned.
In other situations, I may use the timer randomly to avoid being robotic in my timing, and perhaps giving away my hand strength.

Ok, mate, I am not lying. Do you really want to find this words in this TOS thing? I will do that for you. If you want. I am little drunk, but for the big truth I will find this.

Mate... I can't do this right now. But in this forum Google finds topics for this. Some players said "Stars sent me a warning". "You will be banned the next time". There are some rules for this. They can't just close your acc without explanation...Without some rules. Even some "hidden rules". With small letters...

I would withdrawal and play at another site. That is like everyone gets 15 seconds, but they only allow you to have 5 seconds.

As the blinds go up, so does the luck factor. If it's clear that your opponents don't know how to play a short stack strategy with large blinds, you will benefit by playing more aggressively and stealing a lot of blinds.

The luck factor does go up as the blinds increase relative to the size of your stack, so if you're a better player than the rest of the table, you're going to win far more often if the blinds stay smaller. Basically, you want to play fast and see as many hands as possible as the blinds increase to limit your opponents luck factor.

The only time I think it makes sense to stall, is if you're extremely short stacked and near the bubble. Even then, surviving just long enough to make the minimum cash is not a winning strategy in the long run. In MTT, the real money is always at the top and you should be playing to win, rather than simply cash.

I always wonder when this happens in tournaments. Usually around the bubble...

I mean... Why play poker when you think the best option to win for you is to
not play and just pray that there enough players that are even worse and will
bust before you do ?

Poker is for the long run. The more hands you play, the sooner you will see
a profit as a good player. And you also get to see more hands per blind level.
That'S more cheap hands!

I must admit though that the possibility of creating a sitout on the final table
table is a situation in which this is a reasonable thing to do. Won't win you a
sportsmanship badge, but might move you up at least one position with no risk.

The "tanking" , "stalling" is ugly, but profitable. There are an extremely good players who do that. And ofc the others hate them for this. Because they are "shy" or "proud". But this is a PROFIT. Money...Simple math. You hands are more profitable without ICM than with ICM.

The purpose of stalling is not to win the tournament, it is to win money by increasing the likelyhood of cashing. Its also not about expecting other players to be bad. Its about the simple fact, that the more hands your table play, the greater is the risk, that you will find yourself in a situation, where you need to risk all your chips to not bleed EV.

And when the ICM value of additional chips is significant less than the ICM value of those chips, you have already, this is just not desirable. For instance if AK is going to collide with QQ, and all the chips go in preflop, then you would much rather, that this happen to someone else at another table and not to you.

Dirty tactic vs. fair play with time

I consider when it comes to the use of time poker, darts and golf for example. Players in golf or darts to pressure you speed up play especially if they are pros. In these two sports there are time limits just like poker, with that said if you max out your time when playing poker the other opponents should respect your play. Whether one is maxing their time limit to annoy you or he or she needs this time to evaluate their hand respect their decision. I think when you put pressure on your opponent with time it is actually a smart tactic and is not a dirty move. Whatever you do to take their mind off of their game with time is pretty smart and fair. Capo1014

Fair play, but builds bad voodoo..

Using max time, it is within the rules. It might be a strategy, try to tilt impatient opponents? But I try not to push the limits when playing. You need all the breaks you can get; stalling for no apparent reason is one way to make enemies.

+1

Even though most of us don't play this game to make friends.

To max out time every hand as a tactic, chances are that you put yourself with less BB as the blind goes up. You might end up to playing shove or fold in the end.

I agree with you fundiver, if they are in a hurry they should not play mtt, there are also people who say: I'm going to bet everything because I have to go, and I say if you have to leave, stay absent, there is no need to bet everything just to be able to leave. But returning to the subject, if it is true that there is no need to use time at the final table and with 3 players remaining, I will not deny that I sometimes do it but it is when there is a player who will basically be all in in his blind big,

I received a warning from stars about 8 or 9 years ago, this was for the old skill league games where a lot of players including myself were using this tactic, which in the context of the league was a good strategy for making sure you got positive points. A lot of players in these games were not even aware they were playing in a league and were just there to play a freeroll with a tiny value (1c min cash). Obviously they were acting on a complaint from another player at the table.

As far as I'm aware stars has changed hands since then. There used to be options to call a moderator to the table which no longer exist among other things. I don't think there is anything in t&c's that prevents you using whatever time you have for any reason you see fit.

I see no point in doing it at a final table though.

.. So instead of playing my hands normally I just slow roll every hand with all my timer.
And then you have the disconnect specialists...
Everyone plays according to their best strategy. I use the timer when trying to blind out small stacks and to send out a message once in a while. You may sometimes antagonize more players than you would like if you "abuse" the timer and they will ALL start gunning for you which is not good. You have played a fair bit successfully so you should have seen this kind of thing happen. I try to understand the motives of everyone at the table and play accordingly regardless of what they do. For instance, if you use the maximum time every time I encounter you then I would assume you are playing many tables (I'll try to time your responses and any irregularities and if it's important enough I will try to track you down in all of your other games and see how you are doing...winning..losing..tilt..etc...and try to press a few buttons...you could also be a bot). If you are good I will look you up if I can and look at your stats and alternative aliases... Understanding how someone uses their time is important to understanding why a player is doing what he/she is doing in order to anticipate what they will do. All is fair.:D
