Hello CardsChat friends, what's your opinion on bounty MTT? I personally don't like it, because it is unfair to me, example, you win a big pot from someone letting him with just a few BBs, sometimes 10% of his stack, next hand he goes all in with 5 BBs and you don't have a nice hand to play, so you lose the bounty.

When you get in the money your prize is low because half of the money is bounty, so to me those who win the most are the lucky that got a hand against low stack players. I know that you can make some money without entering the position needed but I just don't like it, what do you think?

They have their place and niche especially with aggressive players.

The good thing about them is you can get some of your entry money back by getting some of the bounties without having to play for hours and hours trying to cash.

I totally get your point of the lower prize pool but the point of the whole tourn is that some of the prize pool is right there at your table and if you have folks covered then you can get some of it at any time.

I would prefer those to having to get into top 10%-15% of a tourn to min cash. At least I'll get something back.

I despise satellite tourns a lot more than any other tourn type with only a few seats or having to get to the top 5% of a tourn of a massive field. You would have to be a specialist to make money off those.

I enjoy them and yes sometimes you get to the end of a game and have very few or no bounties and the prize can be low. However, If you manage to have a game where you get some KO's it is pretty profitable especially the progressive jackpots

I think that in the Bounty tournaments you have to concentrate more on your game than on winning the opponent's bounty, when I have played I have realized that because I want to defeat my opponent I play badly, on the other hand, if I play as I really do without think about the bounty, I play in a better way. Regards.

I'm a fan of them and wish they were more popular/common especially progressive bounty knockout ones.

They're fun, I imagine draws in some more gambler types, and it adds an interesting dynamic to tournament strategy. It offers a chance to win back or win more than your buy in even if you don't cash which probably is attractive to some players.

IMO I think they're good for poker.

I used to love these tournaments and often took part in them. But now I prefer regular tournaments, without rewards. In bounty tournaments, players often like to play with junk, risking to get a reward, and that's why this format annoys me.

And sometimes it's the opposite, when an opponent has just 10% of his stack and you wake up with a hand, go all-in behind to isolate and you end up with the bounty. Sometimes players calls with marginal hands and you double your stack up just because they don't believe you had a hand or may be you're just pushing with an A high.
Bounty mtts are a litle tricky to play because of the bounty, but also the chips value (ICM) is different from a regular freezeout tournament, you have to consider it when taking your decisions.
Personally I like these tournaments (progressive KO, bounty builder) because even if you don't make ITM you end up with a small share of the prizes.

i like the pko tournaments but i'm not often very successful at it. The nice thing about it is that you can win something even before you are in itm. You play a bit more aggressively in ko, but it's still poker and the rules that you have to observe in regular poker should also be used in pko. But of course I also like the tension it's something different compared to regular poker and yet it's just poker

You need to find a good book or video series on playing with bounties. You have to treat the bounty as an adjustment to your pot odds, and then make the best decision based on the math. Most players play bounty tournaments awful, which means a lot of money can be made off their mistakes - leaving a big edge for informed players.

All life is one big injustice. But in such tournaments, without reaching the prizes, you can get money equal to entering the tournament, you just need to choose the right situation for a knockout. In simple tournaments, you can lose without hitting the prizes.

I like them and I play many times. Usually you get the bounty from the one you win, but sometimes can happen that you are letting him with a tiny stack which someone else easily wins, but this can come to you also! The big advantage is that the action is rewarded and you make some money and from other source instead of waiting for a long time to get in the money and get a small profit.

Don't play aiming for the amount of the pot, play your best game and the result will be better, in brazil we have a saying that goes from grain to grain, the chicken fills the chat

I like the structure, as it has a larger field in most, compared to regular tournaments, which significantly increases the final prize pool, and the opportunity to cash out even without reaching the ITM. If you play to reach the final table, you can accumulate good value and try to reach the podium to extract more profit.

I like both modes, I think the bounty in the MTT is very important, since it is not necessary to get to make itm to have collections, each mode has its advantages and disadvantages, but both are very well structured, in the end one chooses which one wants to play.

Yes I agree with you that sometimes it feels ''unfair'' if we don't get our opponents bounty but I want to separate something.

Sometimes we MUST gamble because those bounties value more than the next payjump so we need to change gears in our game. I mean play ABC and don't go crazy in the beginning for some initial bounties is vital and some other times we should gamble for them.

Have in mind that is super necessary to maintain a good stack and cover some other players in order to apply pressure etc. The strategy is more complex compared to the normal MTTs but try to understand what matters and the different dynamics in those tournaments.

good for someone, not me

Bounty tournaments have their place, for players ready to play beyond the normal MTT. I personally like to focus on straight up MTT, hold em, or Omaha. Bounty distractions are just that, distractions. Normal tournament poker is what I am comfortable with. Bounties are just too much,

I prefer the standard format, with the bounties you have the additional complexity of trying to figure out if its worth going for the bounty in addition to ICM.

The advantages of such tournaments are precisely in the knockout awards. You may not get into the prizes, but because of the knockouts, be in the black. But in bounty tournaments, the strategy and range are wider than in regular ones. Information about opponents is very important.
