Programming Interface for Odds Calculator?

Hi all,

I'm a programmer and would like to write my own online poker room odds calculator (like Texas Calculatem). But I've seached all over the Internet and have not found any clues as to how to connect to the poker room and read the table data. I know this must be somewhat public knowledge because there are several home-grown calculators available, though none that meet my needs.

If anyone has a clue on this I'd appreciate the info.

From what little I know. I think that most of the software taps into the XML data stream between the client App and the site server. Your app then has to parse this XML stream looking for the info on the cards dealt to the client and the community cards. I took a quick look also and didn't readily find anyone that published their source code for finding the XML stream and for parsing it.
