It's actually a great concept. Everyone sits around the same table with laptops. Saves on dealing and time with pots and chip stacking and you still have good physical reads on people.

I love it.

Yes, you could get a lot more hands in, but having a bunch of people sit around a table with their noses stuck in laptops just doesn't fit my idea of live poker. Do you look for villian's hand shaking on the mouse as he clicks all-in to see if he's got a big hand? Plus it seems kind of silly to pay 10% rake for a pretty small added benefit. If I had a local group of poker friends, I think I'd rather spend that rake money on a nice set of chips. Personally, I love pulling in a big pile of chips and stacking them.

Good Point!

Loving it

I LOVE the idea of being able to set up your own tournaments and cash games!! As a matter of fact, I have opened a league and anyone who is a CardsChat member can join (see my post)
Full Tilt has similar things and so did pokerstars but on a way more limited basis..I think this is the reason Pokerstars will continue to dominate the market of online gaming, they are clever, inventive, they have decent software (although a few too many bad beats for my taste)
The collusion thing, well, thats kind of hard for someonr to know..but hopefully we won't run into it.

some advantages to this new option are:

confidence for people to play online for the first time because they are playing with people that they know. you can get a lot more poker in with the site dealing and figuring out winning hands.

plus PS takes care of tabulating all the stats in your league

I see there is the 100K game in March but I also thought I read that there were gonna be 10K weekly games. Now I can't seem to find this.

I think FullTilt may well be injured by this PokerStar addition. Thanks, Wally

I really wish full tilt would do this, instead of having it though the iron man prizes.

I think there is a freeroll every week and the winner gets a $1000 freeroll for his home game.

I haven't played around with it but it sounds awesome, perfect for web-based communities such as CC.

do you know where to find this at

So I found the link

http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/home-games/promotions/play-with-pros/

Seems the game is weekly on Wednesday but it doesn't say you need a ticket I don't see one for this game. The week for this ends today so maybe the ticket will show up before the game on Wednesday. Seems this promotion will last for 33 weeks with the winner getting 1K and a poker pro home game the Saturday after.

I know what i will be doing on Wednesday night for the next 33 weeks.

I was looking at the home game deal they are offering but I think it would be difficult to get enough people together and play fairly. There always seems to be that one person that likes to ruin it for everyone else. It would be cool though if it was possible to get a decent game going. ;)

I never did see anywhere in this thread that answered the question of where to find the Weekly freerolls for club owners. I know it is at 9pm on Wed - but where do you find it?

These show up under the private games tab on the day of the tournament if anyone still needs to know.

Played in my first home game last night and actually won the tourney. The club is managed by PokerStars. One person sets up the club and approves the membership of each player by invitation from the club owner. Our total membership in the club I am in is limited to 50 players. (We have 24 as of last night) Keeps track of all players' finishes and ranks them by points earned. Keeps a record of results for all tourneys played by club. Players can sign up for more than one club. Has two modes, real money and play money. We had a knock out tourney last night and went off with out a hitch. $1.35 buyin (.10 to PS, .25 bounty and $1.00 game stake) We had 12 playing, so it does multitable games. PS has individual screen for each player. Shows avatar and statistics. Reminds me of a baseball card. It is a nice diversion and I think it would be a beneficial tool for forum admins to stimulate play in their own forum buyin tourneys.

No - just watch special events for things we do. Will probably do another event in 2-3 weeks.

Home games at PS idea

I recently joined a homegame club (whos name will remain anonymous), that plays at poker stars US play money site. They hold daily $1 play money buy in's a few days a week. The winner receives a $5 Amazon gift card through the email after their win is confirmed by the club leader. The gift card adds some value to the games and at the same time gets around the US/$ thingy. Just a thought.
