I don't know what the percentages of winning to losing players is but I am sure it is quite small. Personally I break even by using promotional contests to make up for my lack of skill.
For these sites to keep the rec player around they have to make it interesting for them and a chance at a big jackpot makes it interesting.
Kinda like the reason people keep playing lotteries even though you have a better chance of getting hit by lightning.
The ones grinding the micros using HUDS are just greedy and not too bright if they criticize promos that bring in and keep rec players, who are usually net depositors around.

There is no doubt...

full tilt poker players just lost a chance to get some money or tickets via freerolls.
With the old system, it was much better situation.

Now, it's all focused on a luck and low chances to win... :(

I hate this Players club as i used to only have Bronze edge and with entry to the 2tournaments each day where top 100 would win $5-10 ring game tickets or T$, i played and qualified for every players club tournie you could get and i won nothing, i think i got 6c for finishing 1000th odd or sin in 1 of the games, i also got a mystery prize of a mighty $1 for playing on the required amount of days, etc. I earned many coins playing and also in the coin freerolls but what i hated most was when you hit 1 pair playing the freeroll they gave you 20% coin progress but if you had A high you won a deal freeroll satellte ticket and i would've rathered that the 20% coin progress, i really can't wait to see what they plan on bringing in next as they need to be offering a bit more to players, i also didn't like that you could waste 20 FTP points playing the deal game but from what i read you where highly unlikely to win a money prize or jackpot because they wanted you to have earned coins playing poker and to use them instead.

There is discussion on it on 2+2, the new system is basically a scam.

Players need to rake 5.2 million USD on average to hit the jackpot (Royal Flush is 650k:1, after that 8:1 on the wheel), which at that moment is around 150k USD.

Meaning, FT keeps more than 97% of rake (= effective rakeback is 3%).

It's also a ploy to get players FTP points back at 20points a shot for a 20% coin in return, i would rather use the points to buy-in to satellites or tournies.

I am just collecting coins until the Big Deal gets over $100k.
The share of the $100k ia likely to be around $7-$10.
I Will start playing it twice a day again and hope for a share because I am not lucky and will never hit the jackpot. I have never got so much as a free ticket in the weekly lottery. :)

I have never got so much as a free ticket in the weekly lottery. :)
As I write this I have 121 Coins, I won 4 x $2.50 tournament tickets and 2 x $2 ring game tickets.

I have won 3 tickets to the Deal Freeroll (I cashed in one). I won like $0.28 in the 5K weekly.

And I won $15.97 when the Jackpot was won.

So I'm not actually thriving on the new system but, for me, it is better than the old one. YMMV

Sounds like you are thriving. :)
Besides the share of the jackpot all I have gotten was 91 cents in the 5K weekly.

I did a little math and based on the odds of getting the hands a big deal coin is worth about 2 cents to the player whereas the value of playing at least one raked hand a day ia about 38 cents.
The 38 is based on entry to the $5K weekly, the daily $200 RGT and TT tourneys and daily entry to the Jackpot SNG freeroll. I did not include the daily entry to the coin freerolls where the average coin intake is 18 if you play until the end. I usually play them fast double up and get 1 coin or bust.

All in all this is good value for the rec player who only plays a liottle ring and/or a few micro buy in tourneys.

I'm actually feeling like a bottom feeder. I live from the scraps that the sharks have left over sinking at the bottom.

My skill level is not good enough to play with the big boys; so I try to boost my roll through promotions/freerolls.

I think we are in the same boat but mine has an inch of water in it and I am trying to bale it out. :)

I guess that is what I get for taking a mini vacation. I am surprised it was won so soon this time.
Around 6,5000 lucky Big Dealers cashed in on this one.

The Jackpot has already been won twice and people a coming close sometimes (1 in 8).

So that thing is winnable after all. The other day I was 1 card away from a spade Royal Flush. :( I did win a $2 Ring Game ticket though. :)

Now I just need more coins to play with. I made a couple of final tables in the coins freerolls but no win yet.

I'll modify a famous statement: "I wont Jackpot". :D

Sharing the jackpot is a place you are most likely to win something if you make sure you play the big deal every 8 hours. It has paid off twice so far and maybe due for another soon.
The other place I collect money from is the freeroll jack pot sin n go which you can play as long as you have played one raked hand in the last week. You don't win much but you have a one in three chance of picking up some change every day.

I am liking the Players Club and the Big Deal more now.
I got 4 Kings for $20 hard cash.
It isn't much but my poker money is separate from my real life money so it is a lot for a break even micro player like me.
What are the odds of 4 Kings?
I come up with about 1 in approximately 50,000 so I don't think I will be getting 4 of a kind again before I hit the jackpot. :)
