Now after I delete it I will try downloading it like a new install and hopefully it will allow me to tell it to which drive I want it on.

I might not do it for a few days but I will let you know how I went DM.
Typically the updater and the new installer are the same, it determines if you already have it installed or not. And even if they were separate, if an update installer removed the old install and stored the new one to C:\bodog, it would make even less sense for the new installer to give you an option -- that would be like totally counter-conventional. The point of an updater is to update in-place, not move your installation.

Regardless, it won't matter to me because I have no desire to play Bodog whatsoever. I was being a bit facetious with my outrage above about the C:\Bodog thing -- if Bodog were actually worth playing at, I know how to move it to another drive (even though what they did is brain-dead stupid from a software deployment standpoint, but then again look at their software...). They're just totally not worth the effort. ;)

Lets be honest. CC as a whole should follow one rule.. IF LARKMARLOW says something sucks.. IT DOES...She don't talk bad about anyone or anything ever. Just sayin..

yes

Also I agree no Becky bashing, she has been supportive throughout the past few years, here and elsewhere, and BadDog's lunacy is not her doing at all... they are self-destructing quite well on their own without any need of her help. ;)

Oh ya, also Calvin started posting news of this disaster on his FB, but doesn't want any negative comments? Even going so far as to delete them? Talk about living in a fantasy world... ;)

My biggest problem with the new update is not being able to choose a table position. The old Bodog that always put me at the bottom of the table was a great idea. Tell them to rectify that, Becky.

I may be a bit slow here, but I cannot see how they make more profit from a constant depositor. When a winner withdraws the profit, he leaves a playable amount in his account. How is that less profitable than a newby depositing the same amount? Each scenario leaves the same in the Bodog coffers. So why not encourage both?

None of their "poker eco-system" argument makes any sense at all. Which is why I think it has nothing to do with poker, and everything do with sportsbook+casino.

In a poker economy, the house takes only rake. The player deposits shift back and forth between other players. While they appear to be trying to convince us that a fish is okay losing to another fish, but not to a winning reg, I think it's obvious what they really mean. They're trying to marginalize poker to just another side gambling game, like blackjack, that their sportsbook+casino customers just play occasionally. Also, people might deposit to play a game of poker, but then take those funds over to the sportsbook or casino, where (unlike poker) 100% of their losses go to the house. I believe that's why they're encouraging deposits and discouraging withdrawals, because ultimately they want to get their hands on those funds in their entirety, and not just settle for rake.

If you follow their traffic this weekend, it's been pretty abysmal. Granted, I haven't checked their traffic before now, but I have to believe it was higher than this. At one point yesterday when I checked, they had ~200 people online playing poker. On a Saturday. But poker is probably a drop in the bucket compared to their sb/casino income, so I'm guessing they're fine with that. It still doesn't make any sense to just throw away that much poker income on a stupid business decision like this, but there you go.

It's clear that, unlike other rooms that add sportsbooks/casinos to supplement their poker business, Bodog is looking in the opposite direction. And I'm happy to leave it to them.

Played first full tourney last night with new software. Ended up 4th of 98 not bad.But still is definately a differenc feel.
The anonymous player thing is nuts. Not sure how much i dislike it yet. I see both sides of the argument and time will tell what they decided to do in the future. However, Im sure there wont be any large changes to it for sometime.

I haven't played on Bodog in probably over 6 months. Since before black Friday.

Downloaded the update on Friday and played some SNG's. Both single and MTT types. Didn't cash that night but I was still trying to get a feel for the playing in this new format. Made some changes and played some cash games on Saturday night after watching hockey. Did a lot better that night so I'm up overall.

As for the changes themselves.

The good:
Play seems more stable and I never experienced any lag which I did lots of times with the old software.
Choosing game type and level is quite easy.
There seem to be more fish now than before. No stats obviously but it just felt that way. In the cash games, I was able to key in on 1 or 2 players for the most part and did quite well off of them.

The bad:
No note taking. Can't stand this part. Even if it was just for that session, I'd prefer that. In a MTT, if I play someone and switch tables and finally end up back with that player, I should be able to have my notes. Sure I can write them on paper or in Word, but I'd prefer it to be right in the game itself.
No use of HUD's. I don't see why I can't see stats of people whom I'm currently playing against. Again even if it's just for that session.
Risk of collusion seems higher now. If you're multi-tabling, you will never know if a couple of people are sitting together at multiple tables. Granted I'm sure that Bodog would keep track of this but there is no way to alert them as it's happening.

The meh:
Anonymous play. I can see good and bad things here. Risk of collusion is higher. You can't customize anything about your avatar or name....boring. Fish and the donks may actually like this. Hard to say on this though.

As someone else pointed out, this is either going to be really good thing for Bodog or a total failure. But there is no question, this will piss off the serious poker player.

I dont like the table skin, it looks stupid, and I hate that the table doesnt show you how you playing...that takes alot out of the game, with notes and everything...They have to chage that....very stupid...How is the bodog traffic? Is alot of US people playing there now? o is merge the new place for US members?

Merge has been "the place" for US players ever since BF, if you go strictly by traffic. Nobody else is even close.

Bodog had puny poker traffic before, but now their poker room seems to be barely alive. As I posted above, ~200 players when I checked on Saturday. Not surprising really.

The number of entrants in MTT's wasn't much different at all vs. before the update.
I haven't played any games on there (& don't plan on it either) but have logged on a few times out of curiousity (to check the number of entrants in MTTs).
Planning on taking everything off of Bodog now. Guessing there won't be any more priv. tourneys on there either? (< this is just an assumption).

In my opinion, this is a long time coming for Bodog. I couldn't stand their old software...maybe I'll give them a second chance...then again, maybe not

i believe that for new players it would certaily be an atractive option as it would reduce the edge an advanced player has over them, but as they become better I would think they would play somewhere else where they can have acces to more information about who they are playing

I have been playing on the site since Black Friday as my primary site. Granted, I am a low stakes grinder, so when I stop playing there they won't miss me.

I have not found one change that is an improvement. I see nothing but bad in the changes. But seriously, should we really expect anything out of a sports betting site?

I can't wait until regulation. Until poker is considered fully legal and regulated these wannabe poker sites will never change. Why should they? There's no real competition.

Too bad, these guys gave me a completely free $600, no strings, for placing in two different NCAA Tournament Contests this past year, and I am pulling for them to do well. From initial opinions look like they missed......Time will tell

You have to use long link for embedding. And LOL that a dataminer -- the primary enemy Bodog intended to shutdown with these changes -- has so quickly not only de-anonymized Bodog's tables, but actually exposed User ID's in the process. Epic fail, Bodog. You along with Cereus should seriously fire all of your development team. So you've done nothing against dataminers but hurt what few loyal regular poker players you had. Brilliant.

oooops............

Becky has been pretty absent. We are not mad at you Becky. Your support over the years has been very good. I for one thank you for that. And I am not alone.

Shame your employers dont seem to take online poker or the players serious......

Bodog Poker software update

Guys, sorry for my delays in responding to threads, its not because I'm ignoring you, its because I literally don't have enough hours in the day! I've been reporting on an online gambling conference in Washington DC for the past few days- a lot of discussion on the regulation of online poker in the US, in fact. :)

Anyway, here's a message from Bodog Network re: the security issue mentioned above:

"The talents of the online poker community have been enormously helpful in testing the new software we have released. Obviously, any release has its teething problems and equally obviously we take any fault very seriously & we have released an update which we are confident has addressed the most pressing issues.

The input of poker players and software professionals since launch has helped us make our system more robust and highlight how strong the poker community is.

As for the debate on the rights and wrongs of anonymous tables we are thrilled with how the pros and cons are being discussed. From our own stand point we are sure that depositing players are the lifeblood of the industry and encouraging the casual player to have a better experience will make the poker eco-system better for all types of player".

Thanks,
Becky
