Phil is a solid player--no doubt. When watching Phil on tv I try to hide the noise during his rants, because this is where the pearls of wisdom often lie. If you can put the display of histrionics aside, his analysis of play is often spot on--not always, but more times than not. A lot of time on tv, it is the comments he is making on the side, during the next hand or two, where you can glean some insights as to what makes him a real pro. Even while others are laughing at him and having fun at his expense (which I can understand).
