I read the rule and it says "at his chair", not "in" he was certainly "at" I think his behavior was appropriate. The money was not an issue for him. He made a strong statement about his feelings.

Thanks Lean, I Agree :)

Sometimes people get too bureaucratic and enforce rules in ridiculous ways :)

Hey Danny, here is some cheese for that wine, baby.

Have you listened to his previous rants? He actually thinks they should...

A - rescind this particular rule and B - consult with him and other "high rollers" before they initiate rules that affect him and his high roller friends!

Wow, move over Phil Hellmuth, there is a new legend in his own mind and crybaby extraordinaire in town! Only, to be frank, he is not near as lovable/likeable despite this similarity, IMO.

He has wined on and on about this rule ever since it came out. He basically put forth the argument that the game should be held until his greatness takes his seat and is ready. So, to hell with the sanctioning body or other players. After all, he might be doing PR over at the rail, "signing a fans tee-shirt or talking to them". Self aggrandizing of this sort should take precedence over the little people playing the game, is his basic stance.

As well, his holiness (and other exalted Gods of poker like him, he says - my phrasing), well, they should be consulted first should, goodness forbid, any new rules are desired that might affect them! He basically thinks they are the premo customer at the casino's and should be treated as such, placed above all others.

And the "little people", sick of waiting around while he (and others, who use this cheap tactic when taking forever in a hand might draw a penalty) drags out the game and runs down the timers? Screw them, I guess. Get good like him first, I suppose. He just ignores why this rule was brought about, doesn't he?

Give me a break. He pulled this stunt on purpose, I am sure. He deliberately tried to see how far he could push it and they killed his hand. Not only does he come off like a total jerk, the whole "take my ball and go home" just makes him look even more ridiculous. Hell, I'm surprised he can play in only one chair at the table; two more could be filled by his ego.

Get a clue, Daniel Negreanu!

This is a bit ridiculous. I've always looked up to him and he is one of my favorite players. He should be more professional then this, I guess this the "kid" poker coming out of him.

When did he get his hair back? lol I love that guy.

But the rule reads :"At your seat” means within reach of your chair. " : If he was standing right behind his seat why was this thrown out?

i give him credit for working his way up in the poker world, he did it on his own and i respect that. But he is nobody special and will be buried in the same dirt as every1 else and needs to get his ego back to reality. To act like that and talk like that in public is grossly unacceptable even if he is right about the rule.

I disagree with this, he is making these absurd rules known to the public. The TDA is trying to fix something that is not broken. I have had the honor of talking to Daniel while I was on the rail of the wsop main event. With the new rules people won't get to do that any more players are afraid to stand up. They have to keep their ass glued to the chair.

Oh wow, so he didn't really quit the tourney after all. Makes me wonder is he decided to take advantage of the situation by taking a shot to make a quick double up. Doubling up on the second hand would give a pretty decent edge to a good player at a tournament like this. I can totally see him hoping to get someone to call him light since he's probably not going to be a massive dog most of the time. If he looses then he can just reenter and have the same size stack as everyone else right on the first level. This play might not even be massively -ev

I also wish I could see the actual event. If he was just standing behind his chair but not touching it then he shouldn't have been penalized. If he was actually at the other table and couldn't reach over and touch his chair then like it or not, the ruling was correct.

The dealer was a d... . If he was right there, don't be rude ask him what he wanted to do . Dealers should be good hosts , not pains in the ass. The players on the other hand ...

He's not the only one who has had issues about this rule. If he was slowing down the action then yeah kill the hand. The way this particular situation was described he was simply out of his chair but still within "reach". Sitting for hours on end in a chair has got to be incredibly uncomfortable. Does a player really need to miss a hand if they want to get a minute long stretch in right behind their chair. He and other pros are affected more by these rules just because of the sheer amount of time they spend at the tables in comparison with casual players so it makes sense that they would have stronger feelings about ones that don't make a whole lot of sense or are enforced/interpreted in wildly different ways. I don't think he's being a baby just trying to make a point and take a stand for what he thinks is right and in the best interest of all players. Kinda reminds me of the whole Merson/Aria thing a while back. Whats wrong with bringing things that you don't feel are good for the game to light. He wants the rule looked and discussed. Judging by this thread mission accomplished

Well, as poker pro he should handle one very small small blind lost because of stupid rule and keep goind without tilt.
I happened many times that dealer mucked a hand which he should not. It even happened to ppl with all-in and AA in the hand.

No body cares. It wasn't dealers rule, it was a tournament rule so if he can't get that in his head then he is really smart like he looks to.
