if drunk, it appears unnecessary courage and lost the ability to think sensibly. it's not a very good option for cash games. if you want to win, play with a sober head. but that's just my opinion.

In general is not good to do any things while you are drunk. Playing does not make exceptions. I had a few times when I had poker with my friends but we weren't playing for money. Eventually it's your call.epsi:

I think its different from player to player. If you are that type of player who gets extra courage after drinking, i find it ok to play.
If you are on the oposite side and you gamble insane after consuming some alchool , i find the best way to stay away from poker in order to avoid losing your roll

When you are drunk, you become more "brave", which may explain your gains, since you are not afraid to put pressure on opponents.
But I believe that by playing higher limits, against players who think more in the game, such an attitude tends to lose in the long run.

I never play a tournament when I'm drunk, BUT sometimes when I play few cash tables I like to drink a beer or two, but that's all. epsi:epsi:

If you're playing poker purely for pleasure and can afford to lose what you're playing with then a few drinks are ok.


On the other hand if you're serious about playing poker you need to treat it like any other job and avoid alcohol at all cost when playing.

It's an easy choice for me because I stopped drinking years ago. Just woke up one morning and thought to myself I just don't want to drink anymore it does nothing for me.

I think alcohol and poker are not exactly compatible things,if I play drunk,nothing good comes of it.Under the influence of alcohol you do riskier things,which does not always justify the expectation.Although,to each his own,maybe someone to play better under alcohol

Have to agree with the general consensus of the rest of the thread... Alcohol and poker do not mix.
After enough in your system you'll lose the ability to make the best choices (hands, tables, etc).

You want to play for fun? Open up a play money table. You want to play for real money? Bad idea.
