Does anybody here ever show off their cards at the end of a hand in a live tournament? I did it just recently in the 2nd day of a live tournament. I was in the big blinds and everybody folded to me. I had KK and less than 10 BBs.
I did in the first big tourney I ever played. It was a 600 dollar multi flight tourney at foxwoods. Everyone was combined after 6 flights and I was betting a ten high straight flush draw. The way my opponent was acting I got a bad feeling I didn't want the flush unless it was the SF. My flush got there and I made a half pot bet on the river and the older gentlemen I was playing immediately shoved I hemmed and hawed for a good minute and a half before folding and showing. He showed me an ace high flush and complained for about 5 minutes that i bet my draw the whole time then folded when i got there. I was pretty proud of myself until around the next level I got aces. A younger kid was in the pot with me and the board came Jack high I made a hefty 3/4 pot bet and he shoved on me. I believe it was Jack Ten 4 rainbow I snapped called and had him covered. He said shit and tabled sixes. He said after seeing me fold the flush he thought he could bet me off. Well the turn was a 6 and I was left with 6 bb. So what I thought made me look like a genius actually cost me the tourney a half hour later. Moral of the story don't give any of these sharks any info they don't pay for.

I don't show my cards. I never want to give away information on how I play.

There are several reasons why you should not show your cards in that situation.

You are showing your frustration with not getting action when you have a monster hand.

You are rewarding all the players that folded inferior hands to you - so they all know that they made the right play by folding.

It is likely that the next time you raise you will not have KK but some other hand.

Personally I like seeing the BB frustrated with not getting action with a monster hand.

The way I avoid it is by not looking at my hole cards if I get a walk. I just take the pot. No tilt factor.

Good luck !

I'd say it's like anything else it's all about the situation. I personally like you're showing Kings in blind with only ten bigs left.

While it's true everything you do at the table gives off information if you hadn't looked at your hand prior to everyone folding your facial expressions should have been of disappointment or similar since no one had called?

However if you looked when they were delt that may be why everyone folded to begin with? If it's the second scenario you may already have a bigger problem there than showing your cards!

But if you didn't look before it was time to act when you do shove or raise ( with ten bigs it probably isn't going to be very long after that) you might just get credit for a big hand as the last hand they saw from you was a couple Kings?

So personally I like play. Hopefully that helps but I also know I'm in the minority.

Another one of pokers great mysteries. And as always, it is totally dependent upon the situation your in, and the history that has led to it. Giving information for strategic gain works as long as the ev gained by doing so will remain positive. problem is if you show for gain, then are moved ( or worst yet your villain is moved ), your info EV goes negative, and now your exposed. Only time that one could show would be at a final table, where maximum info EV turns the tide in favor of a larger payout.

Never-ever show your cards. I don't even show my cards when playing online, because people will keep that in mind what cards do you usually play and that is bad thing when they play against you. Someone has to pay for me to turn my cards around.

I used to show a, now I think it is too much. Let your opponent think that it’s a bluff.

Yes, I show cards in the same case, when everyone folds, and I have AA or KK in the big blind.

I will show my hand if there is a showdown; or if there is a jackpot payout, and I have a qualifying hand. Otherwise. NEVER. NEVER. NEVER.

If I bet, you fold, and I win that way, and you then ask me "what did you have?", I usually reply "I forgot". Or, "I had some cards. They had numbers, letters, and pictures on them." Note, I will add "pictures", even if I didn't have any face cards. No information for free. None.

Based on my experience, I can say that it is better not to show your hand to opponents, as most regulars looks at the emotional reaction, at certain points in the behavior that will certainly give some information about you. In General, when the image is already created at the table or you had a crazy bluff and can not resist the pleasure, in such cases, I show 1 card to choose an opponent. АА

I used to show my cards, and once in a blue moon, someone would advise me not to. Whether it was at a casino or online, it didn't matter. Now that seems so long ago. I stopped showing my cards when I realized how truly good I WAS at poker. sharkscope helped me want to get better, and stay successful. We all want to increase our profits, so stop giving out information! : )

I sometimes show to recreational players that are getting flustered by my C-bets just to keep them happy :D

I try to avoid at all costs showing my cards to solid regulars though because they will quickly try to adjust and exploit me for it.

Like I would have a reg ask to see my cards when there's no more action left so that he can "sweat" the allin, but in reality he probably just wants to see what my range consists of.

You have to be careful of stuff like that. If you start showing be prepared to adjust your range or play style accordingly

I never like to show my hand, but there were some new players at the table ..a 1/3 local cash game that I usually play at and I wanted to keep my tight image..

I called his raise preflop raise.. I had KK in the cut off, flop was Js 5h 8d rainbow.. he bet, I re-raised., he called.. turn was like a 3c I'm pretty sure he had something like QQ..

Anyways, after he folded to my river bet.. he said " I'll give you 15$ to show me your cards"..
I didn't.. but thinking back I knew i had him beat.. and kinda wished I said something like "everyone knows i don't bluff".. since i am seen as a tight player.. so when i do bluff the will think twice .. no?

After reading all these posts, I'm beginning to realize I show a card or two wayyy to often.

I'll definitely be more considerate about what kind of info I'm freely giving.

Thanks guys

Depends on the table. If I get away with a bluff I might decide to show it but it depends on the player that I bluffed. But most of the time I never show.

I do not show my cards, if the villain wants to see them then pay and pay well. I think this shows a lot about you and your playing style, so it's good to leave it hidden.
If the game is just a joke then it is cool to show the bluffs and super hands to laugh and have fun.

I show my cards after the end of a hand, only as a Strategy.
I do very seldom show my hand, mainly when I am bluffing and everybody Folds, that way they think I will Bluff many hands and then, I will show the Nuts.
When I win with AA or the Nuts and nobody call, I never show the hand, the idea is to let them think I had a marginal hand. :D

I never show.....ever . Well unless we are chopping blinds but even that's rare. As for showing to Tilt someone , I would do that but in the end you're literally giving away information to everyone else who is at the table. So when it's all said and done you did damage to 1 player but 4 other players paid attention and now have some more Intel. If I'm going to show you're paying for it.

In a game with friends can be shown. In other cases, I do not show the cards, for them you can learn my game. You can show if the action is not typical for you and you create an image that you think to use in the future.
