Does anybody here ever show off their cards at the end of a hand in a live tournament? I did it just recently in the 2nd day of a live tournament. I was in the big blinds and everybody folded to me. I had KK and less than 10 BBs.

It's better not to show cards. You can show cards only when you would like to enter your opponent in error and use it.

Useless shows like that are just that - useless. I only show when it becomes strategically important. Either I want to show a bluff to try to tilt someone or get them thinking that I'm capable of bluffing with air, or I want to show a spectacular hand when someone folds to my river bet - to prove I will bet for value with the nuts.

Either way, I'm still not showing in 98% of situations...

Remember - if you show the KK, your opponents still get to see your reaction when you look at your cards before you flip them up. If they are good at reading tells, they can use that information later on against you.

not a good idea unless you bluffed someone and trying to tilt them.

Good point. I'm usually good at keeping my poker face, and I wear a BB cap with a big visor to hide my face. I really don't think they were paying that much attention. I didn't show any cards when I played today. Much different situation though.

I agree 100%, I do exactly the same, showing a monster hand occasionally helps with bluffs also, and showing bluffs can induce a call later when you have the nuts.

Showing the KK is usually a waste of time in that situation.

I show during a cash game chop in live poker. Like I'll have TT in small blind and show BB that I'm not raising his blind and just chopping.

Showing Cards

I usually don't show my cards regardless if everyone folds or not. Zorba had a good point though as showing once in a great while could help your bluff game.

To me showing your cards just gives others more information on how you play and what you bet with a solid hand. Keep them guessing I say.

Good luck at the tables

You should NEVER show your cards in a live game or online. Unless you are doing it as a part of your strategy to tilt a villain. Only 1 time in the last 6 months have I shown a hand and it was when I had my villain locked on an A-high flush through sound range reading and knowing my opponent and I showed him my fold of a K-high flush. It sent my villain on a tilt so hard that he had been "read" he ended up losing his stack rather promptly. And it earned alot of respect from the rest of the players at the table and made the night very profitable for me.

As for showing your hands that is a hard no from me. Not unless your trying to use it to your advantage in some form of strategy.

You should only give information in coordination with a strategy. In this scenario, no useful information was given to the opponents as he got a walk. However in return, he probably kept the mood of the table fun and jocular. Happy players are more likely to gamble and you can take advantage of that.

Never show your cards

everything you do in a poker table it’s information so if you your hand has no value coz you’re bluffing the you can do it’s muck I don’t give any information for other players try always play whit position on the table is the best way to get information from your opponents and you always be last so if you have the best hand show if not just muck your hand .

Showing cards how game vs. casino rules..

Showing your cards, do so at your own risk. Seen too many fights, live, and shoves, on-line, done to the ones who like to show.
Question is: if someone makes all the bets, do you HAVE to show your cards, or can you dimply fold?
Had a situ live home game, one player wouldn't show her cards, no mattter what. What is the protocol? If you pay, does the winner have to show?

If the winner doesn't show, how do you know they won?
The only way the winner doesn't have to show, is if everyone folded, or mucked.

Paying well I show you lol. Showing you gives clues to your opponents. Poker is an incomplete information game, do not help them in the least.

If you are in the BB and you a get walk (everyone folds) then showing gives off absolutely no information. You where not able to make a play with your hand, so wether you show 27o or AA it gives off no information about your playing style.

If say someone had raised pre-flop, and you folded whatever hand and showed it, now you have given information about what hands you are folding to a raise, which is a much different situation.

You are always showing information. Trust me. No matter where you show. You are basically sending information to everyone at the table that can potentially be used against you in the next hand.

I played again tonight, and I saw a lot of players show their cards at my table after the hand. They probably do it because they all know each other before and it's a casual atmosphere. They were even doing it when we were ITM at the final table. :p
One guy got suspended from the game an entire orbit for showing his cards while the hand was still being dealt. There were 5 of us left. The blinds were 5k/10k/20k. :)

I do not disagree whatsoever with what you are saying. But depending on what stage of his game he's in it may be best to just never show so he doesn't build a bad habit.

Once

I don't really play live poker too much but when I played it I can say it is really fun. I don't really like to show my cards but when I play with friends for fun and spend time I do show my cards almost every time I bluff. It is so funny when I see their face I guess it is a good movement from time to time and of course it feels so good when I win the hand.

I think it is a movement to intimidate our enemy and also to make them feel angry.

Showed my hands last night. Got a reaction from the table not just the other player heads up. Became the villain for the evening for the rest of the night Was getting players who were normally tight against me call my raises and try moves on me postflop It worked out for me that night As I got a tight table to loosen up and play out of there comfort zone
