No way. Card rooms are already opening back up around this area. Grab some hand sanitizer, wear a mask, and go all in!

It will be necessary the use of masks and maybe fewer players at each table, but I think it's simple things to do to mantain live poker

I think it will take some time to lose the ''scare'', but i don't think Covid-19 is the end of live poker at all.

Life is back to normal in many countries, people will remember the 1 meter distance rule, and to wash their hands regularly.
But sitting around a poker table is not more dangerous than shopping inside a supermarket or watch a movie in a cinema. If you feel sick you stay away, simple as that.

Hey!:)
I am happy to report that live poker is alive and well!
There are a few changes, such as plexiglass between players, 6 to 8 handed games, and wearing a mask, but it is as fun as ever!
I played in Florida recently.
It was so good to be playing live NLHE!
I came out ahead both days that I played.
Lots of players to be found, and waiting lists.
I am going back soon!

For me it has been a horror show from start to finish.

However, regards the general public, sorry but I don't have faith in people to do the right or safe thing. In almost every area where restrictions of movement have been lifted a number of people have acted as if they have no longer have any concern.

Regarding live poker, I am fairly sure the same scenario will play out. Yes, a certain amount of players will be very cautious but I think the majority will want to just put it all behind them and play normally.

In today's world everything is like reality TV or a soap opera. We have had Covid-19 it was like a disaster movie come to life...and now it is time to move on. They have the attention span of gnats.

SMy guess would be there will be a cautious reopening of casinos and people will be hesitant to play at first. But if the infection and deaths stay low (the new normal!) then give it a few months and things will be as they were.

I agree and you're absolutely right people have the attention span of a flea right now in my area Southern California they've already opened some casinos and they already have spikes and cluster of new covid cases connected directly to the casinos.... and all the young people near the beach Community where I live are acting like it's a normal summer they don't want to wear masks or do anything really and the cases of coronavirus in our area are going up every day it's really very scary:(

No way this is the end. It has definitely stunted it and delayed major events but live poker with most certainly live on.

Were they having tournaments too or is that further down the road

Thanks for your reply rricker.

Of course the depressing issue with my first post in the thread is if I was seen as negative by some, I actually underestimated the situation as players flocked back to the tables.

I also noted later in the thread the fact the Supreme Court of Wisconsin (an egregiously politicized court) had kneecapped the state health department and declared their order to keep social distance measures in place etc. as illegal.

That this pandemic became politicized should be an outrage. That segments of the population took their cues from such flawed figures instead of the experts should be an outrage. But here we are.

The end of June - 38,000 new infections yesterday, another 600 deaths with 2.5 million infected and 127,000 already passed.

Its an absolute disgrace.

Hi!
One poker room did have tournaments. It was at a Sarasota race track called, One Eyed Jacks.
I only saw cash games at the actual casino. The Seminole Hard Rock Casino had several cash games going.

I had to be out in the public working and helping others throughout the entire pandemic!
I can certainly play out in it!
I take the proper precautions and live life!
It is NOT a disgrace!
More people have testing available to them now, and that is part of the reason for increased cases that we are aware of.
MANY people had it and recovered from Covid 19 before it was a "thing".
Did the people throwing stones at someone like me, help anyone as an essential worker??
I DID!!
Temps are checked at the door! Masks are worn! Plexiglass in front of face and at sides, etc, etc.

Of course not. COVI will pass, and everything will return. (I for example love F1, it's coming back.) So poker will come back.
