It's ok to cheat as long as you cheat fair! LOL! If you have to cheat that's not saying much for your game. It does happen probably more than you think. In some of our local home games you will have 2 or 3 players working together to get chips to the one of them that is short stacked. They can still be beat if you play a solid game but you have to be paying close attention.:D:D

Of course I believe cheating still occurs in live poker. To think otherwise would be wishful thinking, I'm afraid. Now, do I think it is wide-spread? No.

I have sat at a table in a casino and caught a guy motioning to another player that was sitting two spots behind him.. I told the dealer I wanted to see a pit boss who I openly asked to be moved to another table cause I thought the two were working together.. after I was moved one guy got up and left the other played another few hands then he too left the room. So I guess they thought they were being watched but hope it cued some other players that it was happening and I'm sure the casino was looking over the camaras

Yes, the cheating that goes on is mostly a group of regulars that soft play against each other heads up and will attack each other when there is a target in the hand and force them out by the action then chop the profits after their session is complete and theyve busted a hand full of rec players

I have seen people mark cards, introduce fake chips, collude, I even saw guys selling fake tournament tickets at one room until the room finally just last year got a real computer generated ticket system like everyone else in the world. Yes people cheat live and yes they are successful in many cases.

Yes its possible to cheat on casino but not like you saw on movies. I don't know how they do it but I have witness onetime a security arresting a player. They said that he was cheating during the game.

Can most definitely cheat online. Easy to collude with a buddy at a 1/3$ table. Definitely signaling is still viable live I have seen it occur myself with not a single person noticing it was happening.

In reality you catch and caught every moment at table and for me is not cheating. I have a annecdot to tell you. In my league game in final table when the fourth player go allin and lost he offer him to be the dealer so everybody accept him. In a particular hand when before the villain raise and reraise every pot ( because he had the biggest stack) I see the two first card because the dealer show up a little bit. just me I see that because my place was in front of him. And thats was quick . Im on Button so I see wich card go in 1and 2 position. Mlike J and 8. so the villain receive a 8. I raise the hand the SB fold andthe villain call. the flop came 10 -k-8 rainbow. I know he had one pair and he raise with it. I go allin and he call I had K-8 off he had 8-7 off . Cheating? I dont really know. I take this advantage to win thats it. I say to dealer to lower is hand when he discard after this hand. And the villain finish third after a couple of hand and I won this tourney.

Yes. That is the definition of cheating. If you see another player's hole card during the deal you are supposed to let the dealer know. They will burn the card and deal him another.

I have seen many people cheating while playing cards. Some of them were using Spy playing card cheating Device to win the game like using contact lenses, spy glasses and other type of devices. Their are many websites where you can buy these devices easily.

I heard about someone cheating at a casino I played 2 weekly tournaments at. He would take chips off the table when he had a lot of chips and then bring them with him to the next tournament. I'm not sure how long he did this for as I heard it second hand but he did get caught. After one of these tournaments the tournament "director"(these tournaments weren't well ran) and the dealer from the final table counted the chips and they were 7k or 8k sort. They then told the dealers at the next tournament to pay attention and caught the guy putting chips on the table.

Now as for me seeing cheating at a live table. It's not exactly cheating but a very dirty angle. I was play 2/5 PLO. This was about 4 or 5 years ago so I don't remember the exact hands. Anyway I had QQ KJs or something similar. I started the hand with 3k. Couple of limpers short stack of around 120 pots it, i 3 bet button to 128, SB flats folds to short stack calls all in. Flop comes KJh rag. SB Checks, I bet 350, SB calls. Turn is an offsuit 9. SB checks again I bet 675,SB calls. River is small heart. This is were the angle comes SB immediately says pot, fml I go into the tank(not sure if one of the Q's was a heart but not really relevant) I know this guy plays a lot of PLO a a different casino(my regular casino had PLO once in a while so most players a holdem player and aren't that good at PLO). I was sitting in seat 3 and SB was in seat 4 and his stack wasn't visible to me as he was leaned forward resting one arm on the table and the other hand was on is cards. So after tanking for 4 minutes or so I end up folding. SB shows AhAs rag rag. Short stack mucks. After the guy moves his arms to rake in the pot(just before I was about to say nice bluff) I see he only had 250 behind and I said are you ****ing kidding me, you say pot when you only have 250(which obviously I would have called) and he says oh I didn't know and then to make it worse his friend he came with says he doesn't understand PLO that well. So instead of go crazy and having a screaming match with him and his friend, I took 250 from my stack and went to the bar and drank for an hour to calm down.

I've only heard that in some casinos there is complicity with the dealer.

Oh dear - that was baccarat / punto banco, not poker, and the jury's still out (literally) on whether or not what he did was actually "cheating" or not.

Whether or not the jury decides that phil Ivey was cheating, the fact is he wasn't. He transferred £1 million to the casino in the UK. Then got them to agree to terms such as: he wanted a specific deck used, he wanted to play with a partner, he wanted a Mandrin speaking dealer and I believe he also wanted the deck to be hand shuffled. The Casino agreed to everything, let him play and when he won big refused to pay. Advantage play isn't cheating, Casinos let players who play big to do this so they will come to their casino and gamble hope they will lose big. They can refuse to take a players bet or limit the amount a player also not allow a player to vary their bet size. The casino in question did none of this just refused to pay when Ivey was done playing. Now you may say edge sorting is cheating but the casino agreed to use that deck. They could have said no but they said yes. You can't stop a player from edge sort or shuffle tracking( which are very difficult skills) but the could've again simply not taken his bets or agreed to the game in the first place.

So the post you quoted was from back in 2014 - the jury has since come back and courts in both the UK and the USA and they ruled in favour of the casino in both cases.

Whether or not you or I agree that it was "cheating" is largely irrelevant. The precedent has been set that if you do it and get caught you probably won't get paid.

Yeah sometimes I don't pay attention to dates on posts. Thought after I had posted, I heard about about a judgement so, I googled it and found the judgement came in, in 2015. Yeah that's an unfortunate precedent. Especially there ruling from the Borgata case because they did pay Ivey for the 4 sessions when he was edge sorting which was 9.6 million in total. They sued him for 15.1 million as they said he received 296000 in comps and for 504,000 he won in craps using the winnings in question also for extraneous damages or something to that effect. The judge ordered Ivey to pay back 10.4 million.
