I always enter the game with small pairs, regardless of my position at the table, if it is not too expensive (up to 4BB). With a well-camouflaged set, I can easily double my stack. If I am not lucky, I can also easily exit the game.
Yes, 100% correct. These types of hands can be easy to play if you are playing good, solid poker.
I would call a raise in late position and fold to 3 bet, fold in early position in the cash game. In the mtt: the same, but if i have less than 15 BB i would play push/fold.
Yes, push/fold is pretty much the only option here when you are under 15BB.
I only call small pairs as long as there is no high raise in the pre-flop if someone raises in the pre-flop I fold
What if you have position on this person who's raising? Are you folding 100% of the time?
Yes. And there is an option to get into the set over. The profit from such a hand is small
I don't agree - if you flop a set on a board, for example, that is 36Q (Let's say you have Pocket 3's), you might get your opponent's entire stack if, for example, they flop top pair and are married to that hand.
After the flop with small pocket pairs, you are far ahead or far behind. What to do next? Again two answers to this question. You can reset or you can continue the game.
Depending on board texture, you are somewhere in between a lot more often than you think. The "way ahead-way behind", while fundamentally correct, is Level 1 thinking. Remember, your opponent is also in the hand and may not love seeing a particular board either. In which case, you may want to try and semi-bluff into a pot, and see if you can push your opponent off a hand that may be better than yours, but again, maybe not if the cards are face up.
Some say that 44 is the lucky hand on pokerstars 🃏
Pocket 9's are often referred to as the "Stars Nuts". Watch streamers that play on
pokerstars, and you'll hear that quite often.
Hopefully you can learn from those situations and apply it to future situations. But yes, small pairs have ruined everyones' games at times, but it shouldn't make you hesitant to play those hands again.
