Wildcard, you have got to be either very passive or you were scared of the other players(sorry) I've been in a couple of those situations before.
To the guy who said he made a living playing online? I would have laughed him off the table. That dude had his head so far up his ass, he needed a glass belly button to see.
2nd, if he insisted he had the better hand, playing online for a "living", I would have had him explain in GREAT DETAIL how the f-ck he thought a 10 kicker (which is what he had after the river) beat a K kicker. Then if he still thought he won, I would have asked him to COUNT the cards in order from smallest to highest. IF he's still too stupid,(remember, he does need a glass belly button) I get the other tables involved. But hey, that's me. I turn into a complete dick in the face of stupidity.

#1 is actually correct at showdown they can force you to show your cards although it is against etiquette. it actually happened at the aussie millions 2007: YouTube - Aussie Millions 2007 Main Event EP5 4/5 about 4:30 into it, and Andy Black is not even in the hand that bit is weird apart from that i agree with the rule.

NO this isn't quite what the OP was talking about.

At showdown the person who bet last has to show his cards first.

Then the caller can either show a better hand or fold.

In the OP's description the table thought the caller should show first.

After the better has shown and the caller mucked... then a player may request to see a player's mucked cards.

This rule exists to prevent colluding, i.e. the mucked hand beats the winning hand, but is mucked anyway.

Whilst any player is free to ask for this at any time, its frowned upon because it gives away information for free and as the rule is there to prevent cheating, you are basically accusing the guy of cheating by invoking it.

There is no official limit to who how or when it can be used, but some casinos will issue a player with a warning if they feel he is asking to see mucked cards too often.

Ah right sorry i thought he was more annoyed at the fact he was forced to show not that he was told to show first, i thought just trying to add to the point about how little they knew of the rules.

PISSED OFF because i was on a pure bluff and just called at the end for info as to how the noob plays, so i had to show what i did... which was not cool)

That's funny. Sad actually. I would have been really mad as well though.

If they all think that the TT was the better hand, then I would love to stick around and play with them. You may have a straight one hand and get called by someone with trips thinking that they beat your straight....lol

That scenario sucks some big ones. I would suggest getting a pocket rule book and cary it around. I would also ask about rules with the tournament host before I decided to play. Did they actually give you the pot in situation 2?

What ... like ... does 3 pair count? :D

your right on both cases

you called so he must show first and you can choose to muck, on AA JJ board there is 2 pair higher kicker plays. AA JJ is higher than AA 1010, K is ranked higher than 10 therefore your 2 pair is best hand

m8 it's all your fault because u never asked the house rules :deal:...if u would have done this u would have found that 2 high pairs+1 low pair beats 2 high pairs+K kicker :banghead: ; or other ones :afraid: ....hope this lil story will help u understand how important are the house rules  in a house game :smokin::

A stranger walks into a saloon and gets a drink. He sees a poker game and asks if he can play. He's told to take a seat. It's a no limit 5-card draw game and he's a pretty good player. After about an hour of so-so hands, he draws Aces full and makes a sizable bet. The old guy across from him raises all-in and the stranger calls. The old guy lays down 23457o and reaches for the chips.
"Whoa, there. I've got Aces-full."
"Yeah, but I've got a wild cat.", says the old guy.
"A wild cat? What the hell is a wild cat?"
"A wild cat is 23457 off-suit." Like this, "Says the old man."
The stranger starts to burn and says, "I've played a lot of poker, but I've never heard of a wild cat."
"Well, if you've played a lot of poker, you ought to know that you should learn the house rules before you play. And this here's a house rule."
At that, the old guy points to a sign just over the stranger's right shoulder. The sign says,
"House Rule - Wild Cat is a 23457 off-suit and it beats everything"
Being a gentleman and an honorable gambler, the stranger takes his lumps and settles back for more poker.
Several hours later, the stranger is dealt 23457o. He bets and the same old guy raises him the pot. Without the slightest hint of a tell, the stranger raises all-in. The old guy calls and lays down an ace high flush, and reaches for the chips.

"Whoa there! I've got a wild cat.", says the stranger as he lays down his cards.
"Nice hand.", says the old guy as he scoops up the pot. "What did I tell you about house rules?", as he points to a sign over the stranger's left shoulder.
"House Rule -Wild Cat - Only Good Once a Night" :joyman:

That wild cat story is pretty funny

In the case of the OP, 3 pairs is something that is unheard of and who has crazy house rules like that
