Honestly playing with chips is completely different from real money. Because players tend to go all in for alot. So you won't really learn. But you can still practice with it.

I have started as a kid and I played Zynga poker, all I can say now, it didn't help me at all. I only have bad habit of bluffing and poor plays. Now I don't play any play money, just leave it. freerolls are much better for training if yoi can't or don't want to invest real money.

I feel starting out play money is best but people dont care so makes it hard to improve once you get to a certain level of play

No, of course not.... Best to play with real money to learn the game.

Ever since I started playing real money, I have not once touched play money. It immediately lost all of its appeal. I understand that there is some value to trying to use it for practice, but I find the amount of reckless shoving ruins the quality of the game, and I can't convince myself to take it seriously knowing that I am not actually risking anything.

I do not use play money to practice anything. The only thing I would suggest a player to "practice" with play money is to understand the most basic mechanics of the game. After that, the play money games are too different from a real money game to translate into useful practice.

No way ive never played play money for any type of practice, its not going to help you.
Very rare youll get a game that even resembles poker.
Probably going to hurt your game more than help

Lots of BINGO players in play money games. They shove constantly intentionally with mediocre hands just to luck out on river.

I play poker for about one year. On average, I spend about $ 25-30 a month on the game. I believe that these expenses for a game are tuition fees.

A poker game only makes sense when playing for money. Playing on virtual chips is devoid of the most important element which is risk assessment and the allocation of the appropriate rate to it or folding the cards. Poker without money is fun for children :)

Well in my opnion you can't learn much playing with play money, 'cause the majority of them won't take the game serious (like the go all in with 3 and 8), and because of that you just won't develop strategies and know how it really works the basics of poker. If you want to learn without spending try to participate freerolls tournaments

poker stars launched a new game Fusion, so i do a test run with play money and learn what Fusion is all about. I did not like the way it turns, so there is no need for me to invest real money in plying Fusion.

I used play money when I first came back to poker after a several year break. It helped to get the basics but I never really felt like I was learning to play poker correctly. I'd say that play money MTT's are worse than freerolls when it comes to learning because people will play way differently than they would if they paid for the buy-in.

Big NO for me actually I think i never played with Play Money I agree with some post I read is just not poker, poker is just a game for money I would recomend to someone play with play money just to know how the game works in matter of position and when to bet about the flop, turn and river only for someone who doesn't know how the game works...

I hit the play-money tables just to kill time. It's fun to watch how people just go nuts, with nothing to win or lose.
It also serves as a way to tell if any BOTS are around, as it nothing more that a proving ground for if the programming needs work. And usually if a play-chip player moves to buy-in tournaments, and consistently runs deep into the money beware.

I do not see the point to play for play money when there is real.On play money to play lost excitement, victory does not bring much joy

I learned not to play poker using play money. If play money poker were real money, I would be a millionaire right now.
