I am aiming to turn pro next year and i am currently in the process of getting backers/stakers and also advertising myself as a player who generates good results - people think that if you cant grind at a micro level then you will struggle at advanced level, i disagree - if you have good math, know your pot odds, effective stack betting, table position skills and know your positive shoving ranges, you always have a chance - some of the best players today do not religiously play by the textbook, your table image is everything.
I am going to be playing a wider range of games up until Xmas 2018 and look to turn pro sometime around March 2019.
I am confident i will get there..

"you always have a chance" < this is true but I'm thinking it's a bit of a lottery... & there's going to be a good chunk of players who will be showing up with handfuls of tickets.

'IF' you're good enough to play professionally backing should be no problem.
What game is it that you're planning on playing?

Personally I gave up the notion just after Black Friday. Online has become a completely different environment these days & live tourneys are too far for me to travel to. I play a couple live cash games but not at a Casino. I do it recreationaly & profitably and not with the stress of needing to do it professionally.

I would prefer to be a one hit wonder, hitting a deep run during a trip to vegas at wsop smaller buyin ($1,500).

Very good point I know players that play way better than some pros but if the luck isnt with you then you've had it

David this isn't actually true. I mean many of the pros have played 1,000's of games in their careers. If you're putting in volume, 'luck' factor in poker will marginally even itself out somewhat. Many of the top live tournament players today were (or still are) the top online tournament players and have played 10's of thousands of tournaments. In the longrun, luck means very little.

We get down to 16 people and i have 70% of the chips left in play and my computer decides to just stop getting internet.I never got back on that night no matter what I did.

Wow! That sucks! I remember those donk rolls on FTP for that NBC opportunity. Did you save the Hand History for that game? Would love to see the huge discrepancy in stack sizes with you holding 70% of the chips in play! (it must've taken a long time for the others to wait for you to go out).
I was a few spots off the top of the Leaderboard of the WSOP fantasy league on FTP & then binked a good score in the last couple tourneys prior to it being cancelled :( (forgot all about it til' now). That NBC shite must still haunt you... maybe you gii w AA in the first round vs. Helmuth & he rivers a 9 for a set & luckboxes out on ya. We'll never know :(

Hi.
Yes, I would like to be a professional poker player.
This would allow me to travel, get acquainted with new people and do my favorite thing. I hope my dream will come true.
Good luck.

It depends, I would say. Being that professional for earning money, that covers my expenses or more, then yes. But being in the public or such a called legend, probably less. I like it calm in my life. ;)

If anyone wants to go pro they gotta cry and bleed for it even when you do everything right than bleed some more! Mabey I'll see you at the tables AKQ on ACR

To be honest - no. Love to play poker, and i always will, but that's just my hobby and nothing more. If i can make some money - great, but don't see myself as poker pro even if i would have skill for it.

No I would not want to become a pro. It takes up to much
of your time, and life is to short to waste it sitting around a table.
I play for fun and wood not let playing poker consume me.

Thank you for the words my friend,Your words will be very well taken advantage of.

I'm not sure I would want to be the type of pro who has sponsors and backers who require me to play in every tournament ever held, and do promotions and stuff like that. But I would love to earn enough money to allow me to live a very comfortable life and continue to play high stakes tournaments whenever I wanted to.

I agree. it's easier to just make money for life and be free from other obligations. Freedom of action and money is the sweet line of life[emoji12] [emoji12] [emoji12]

anyone who plays poker wants to become a proficient player, even recreational players, just need so much time, patience and understanding of playing poker as well as to learn to read other players, this is like football, everyone knows how to play, Only the most persistent and the best go to the professionals.
