Showing cards helps give ur opponents a read on you, as simple as that, might give away reads on when u bluff, value bet etc

I dont show my cards because I dont want everyone see how I play, you are giving them advantages if you show your cards.

it's very simple man wants to understand your cards as you play and as you can do in the following situation people who do not show cards to some extent they are right not want to show the tactics of your game

I here for example too do not show the piles of cards simply because even when you play a bluff or very tight then you will mark the label iliesche loose or tight as you want to see the cards go all the way.

What if you reverse it and use the information he thinks he has on you against him?

Example, two times you successfully bluff him out of a pot and show him the bluff both times. He now knows you're capable of a bluff and will be more likely to pick it off in a similar situation if you try it again. You get heads up with him and make the exact same play against him, and he calls this time trying to pick off the bluff, except this time you show him the nuts and hand him the keys to Value City. You get paid off and the information he thought he had against you goes out the window since now your range in that situation is polarized, and he no longer has an advantage.

I agree with you, the same situation is when you show a big pair one or two times and then use the information against your opponent ... for example to make a bluff. But all depend in how you play the hands and how you can control it.

Some say a timely show now and then can mislead others to get a misread on you
But your opponents actually need to believe the read you're trying to sell them on - right?
BUT - Why would they believe your show (Good or Bad) - this is poker

As for tilting others by showing your suck-out hand - Would this be to convince them you always play ATCs?

Personally, I just don't bother showing cards - no real reason - Maybe on a rare occasion as a courtesy to a player I respect.
When others show - I usually think - So what - My notes are on hands played to show-down and how they were played on each street :listen:

I'm not "against".
But sincerely, the only objective of showing cards is try to tilt your opponent...Don't worth show how do you play just to it.

People don't show their cards, because that would not have solved their style of play in poker, poker is one of the main strategy of my game, but I think not only mine

Quite often I see a guy saying "Will you show if I fold?" and it's always followed up with a No. A lot of people playing online poker simply set their cards to auto-muck and never show, even when asked.

What the hell? Why are people so against showing their cards now and then? What's so bad about it that people are against it so much?

If you are playing for fun, there’s no problem with showing your cards, otherwise you are giving up info about your playing style for no reason. Now, if you have a read on someone and you are doing this because it gives you an edge or you know it will tilt your opponent into spewing chips, then by all means.

People are probably against it because they think it gives to much information about your ranges of playable hands, bluffing patterns, how you play certain hands,etc... I myself think it works for me more than against me I like to show bluffs but I like to show made hand winning cards also and maybe needle others in the hand afterwards.. lol

It's the first tell of showing people how you play. I agree with some of you... If it's a big bluff and you win, show people so that they think that's how you play all the time.

Once in a while, I may show the nuts but only if I'm with players I know. If they don't pay to see my cards, they're not seeing them.

Also, playing with bad cards and getting lucky makes you look like a fish. I can't let people know that! lol

Some people have very good memories and remember things about how you played a hand that even you werent aware of, and if you go around showing your cards every hand then you become that much more exploitable to those people.

Automuck means it's faster for me to finish a hand that I don't reach showdown on but won.

It also is only going to help the enemy to show them your cards.

Sometimes I show my cards with some goals in mind, I think showing by show is better hiding them;

It's a way of play not to give any information on how you play your cards from any top hand to 72 I play lots of cash and tourneys at my local casino and it's a ways of how others players show a bit more respect to your hand than when you show a bluff or small pairs and by not showing they can only think you play tight, conservative and top cards when hey can be doing a whole lot when they don't show the cards that's why they do it.

Hey. pay-see. showing your hand you give your opponents information about yourself. Your opponents will quickly collect information about you and will be able to learn your style of play. opponents will be able to foresee your hand in your behavior in the future. it's my opinion

if you show your cards you will give information to other players that is the main reason that other players do not show their cards.

Better never show your hand

one or two autopsies are still nothing, but if you do an autopsy on a regular basis - that's how you convey a lot of information to your opponent.
