Well its a case of logistics and popularity, when you take a country of Russia's size and also that Poker is massively popular, this give reasoning as to why, also there are a lot of very good professional players both live and online.
Yes - there are many loose players but its all relative and the crazy horse style is often a misconception, the Russian players i have come across at higher levels are extremely good, patient and deliberate in their skills.
If Pokerstars allowed US players to play real money, it would also be flooded..so its again relative to size of market audience.

Pre Black Friday when USA players were definitely the majority of the player pool, there were more donkeys on the tables than there are today (by a longshot). Many of the top players & grinders also came from the USA. After Black Friday, the top players who chose to continue playing moved (mostly) to canada & mexico, with some others going to CostaRica. Many of those players no longer play online today... some do but now just part-time (ie. for SCOOP & other big events/series online).

Many players from different countries. If you look at the participants of the games during the day, you can see at what time the players of a certain country dominate. In play money games is dominated by Americans.

144.5 million Russian in 2017 is to be taken into consideration. as well as the weather it enjoys in parts of this great country. but they are not all dangerous. I am used to playing in a table where he has only Russians and still manage to dominate the table. Why is Russia so dominant in poker fields? Okay it is massive but seems to over dominate dominate a lot of tables. For instance I am playing a cardschat tournament tonight and 126 players out of 500 are Russian which is 25.2% of the field which seems massively skewed when you consider the amount of countries in total.

What causes so many players from this particular country to play compare to others and generally such a loose aggressive style? Is it the cold turning them into action junkies? :wink:

In a freeroll they have nothing to lose.

They are good students of the game. they expose weakness. Also have good educations so they understand odds of hitting vs pot odds.

I have enjoyed reading through your responses. Obviously Russia is huge so should have a higher proportion than other countries. I was interested though due to what caused such a skewed proportion on some games I have been in where it has been 50% of the table but this skew has been more at micro-stakes level. I'm from the UK but size wise we are tiny and I would say there is large presence of UK players online considering the size of us and some countries you don't see or hardly see and wondered what caused such an interest there in particular.

I did not realise the internet was really cheap in Russia but think I would definitely favour online poker to Casino poker if I lived in one of the colder areas there.

As Tauri has stated the country does not reflect someone skill. I definitely agree. When I said generally loose I do find a more loose aggressive style with Russian players as a trend. But I also have played many many tight aggressive styles and played extremely good players many who have whipped my butt from both styles. Loose aggressive is meant as general style and not meant to equate to bad play. I do not tend to do as well playing loose myself but sometimes try and switch my style and see how well I do.

I say it has to do with the fact that so many big countries with high number of people are not allowed to play only between people from their own country take france, USA, Italy, sweden etc ... with how many big countries your left ? just look at Russia's population , I heard that we might lose them to actually , that would be so bad, those mofos will only allow us to play between ourselfs ( same countries ) eventually if we dont do anything about it , no one is even moaning about this days about it anymore.
