OP, you need to know when to quit. Quitting while ahead is a power move. Not too many people can do it.

You can't be mad about losing money. If you do, then it's money you shouldn't be playing with in the first place. The second you put any value to your money while gambling, kiss it goodbye.

Sounds like you need to really look at the wins.
Certain sites clearly you win and then everything that could go wrong does.
The site you choice to play at is the most important choice you have here.
Once you win you will need to add the $ to your bankroll and start over.
Unless you are just crushing and the stacks do not have the deep $ you have in play.
However you will become a target the deeper you are while winning.
Everything dies and even amazing hot runs end.
I can remember playing .05/.10 nlh online and running a $10 buy in to $105.
Was the sickest session at that .05 /.10 for me. I was playing amazing and not really that lucky just crushing.
After time there was no way I was going to profit any further.
Back when I played Full tilt I had Ak won a $1200 pot and played one more hand and clocked it.
The thing is someone may say why stop there?
The way I play is short and sweet.online poker on Full Tilt was always having a long wait list and once up you definitely are a target.
I have a weakness I like playing poker and I am a tournament player.
In cash game there are new players and really all different types of players.
In tournament you could argue then there is more.
Not really unless site or floor is constantly moving you from table to table.
I can analyze players at the table and stack size so the play available to adjust and figure out players thru the tournament.
In cash games a play leaves new play comes without hud or tracker you have no idea the style play now.
I would suggest once your get up cash out.
this will enable you to have a larger bankroll and your winnings will show in account .

Regression to the norm..

If it is an either/or, there's no middle ground. If you play all-out, win or lose, no in-between, then the probabilities say: you will probably win or lose; all in, or all out. Perhaps if you played a little less of an all-out, total victory or total loss, you will find some middle ground, lose a little here, win a few there.
But if it's your goal to play all-out, good luck, it's hard to win.

I find that every individual must have discipline in their poker in general to bankroll for winning and losing. Lucky for me I play freerolls and satellites only so that I only lose on satellite money and I'm happy I stick to that method.

It seems to me that there are no such people who never lose, so do not get upset, this is just a game.

It is because of payout structure of tournies. When minimum cash prize is 1.3-1.5 buy-ins you lose next tourny and in minus. The only ways to be profitable is to win top prizes (at least rarely) or to be in cash more than in half tournies. Or to hope when they cut top prizes and change min cash to 2.5-3.5 buy-ins.
In cash games you can lose all your winnings in one hand.

Running it up where you risk your bankroll is usually the culprit (for me it is, anyway). Taking a shot from time to time is okay, but as long as you play within the 50-100x the standard buy-in recommendation, "losing a lot of money" will be relative to your bankroll, and should allow you to keep playing through the variance. If you go broke, well, you ran it up to far and risked more than you ought to have. Basically degenerately gambled away all that money you won because variance didn't favor you in those subsequent hands. It's one of the hardest things to get under control (bankroll management) because a lot of people love the idea of "winning big" (it's fun, I get it). But what I've come to discover is the best way to approach this game is to play to learn, not play to earn. So if your bankroll only affords you to play 2NL, so be it. Keep playin until you learn to beat it and accumulate enough to move up to 5NL and so on. This way there is relatively low pressure of blowing it all while focusing on actually learning the (or improving your) game.

I also need to go back to basics. What are the tips and simple rules you are now using?

One of mine is position position position...
Now I'm trying to play more tight. Earlier, but very often I forget about it and start playing a lot of hands. And a lot of unnecessary aggression in the game, thanks to which I quickly get out of the race. I will also try to play according to my bankroll. Right now my bankroll only allows freerolls.
And I will take your advice on position into account. I used to think that it makes no difference what position you are in.but my opinion changed, but somehow I still did not pay due attention to it.

Hi.
When I started playing, I had the same problem. But over time and with experience, I became more disciplined and now I do not spend my own money on the game. Follow the risks, follow the bankroll management and you will be able to solve your problem.
Good luck.

Maybe you have never heard of bankroll management?
This is a universal money management system that can be used by any player. By following this system you will significantly increase your chances of success.

Most likely, when you win you are very lucky, but you are very lucky much less often than unlucky and therefore you lose)

My main problem in poker is casinos and slot machines))).
Chances are, you need to get a strong skill based on your impeccable theoretical experience.
So everything is ahead, subject to constant study of theory and great gaming experience.

Only play freerolls and you wont have this problem!!!!

There is a concept, if you only play Freerolls you can't possibly loose anything, it's a Win Win adventure. So why not Win Win?

Only thing would be is that you can't play many Tournaments per day being they would all be freerolls.

I don't have that problem, I have started all the poker room accounts from 0, with freerolls, and I have money in all of them.
When I pay for tournaments my buy-ins do not exceed 10% of my bank.
And I always have money in the poker rooms since I started handling it that way

You just have to learn when to walk away. Very few people can do that.

You're better off playing tournaments where, if you win, you always go home a winner.
