Yes, math accounts, and people's facial moods, and then there's the losses, gains, and investments.

The Cards Will Come

I think the biggest thing I have learned from poker is patience.

Seems to me, when you are patient and don't try to "push" for the win by playing too loose, the cards will eventually favor you to win the hand.

Sometimes it doesn't happen soon enough for you to win the tourney - but usually patience will help you win the hand. - and with enough winning hands you are in "the money", then at the final table, and then, occasionally, even the big Winner!

Even if you think someone is making empty threats (bluffing), be very cautious! If you put too much trust in your personal assessment, you might horribly regret it later.

Patience

I don't know much about poker yet because I just started playing it recently. But even in a short period of time, I realized that patience, knowledge and dexterity take 80% of everything, and luck takes the remaining 20%. It’s hard without luck, and even harder without patience and dexterity, so life depends on you more than luck, if you always rely on fortune, you can stumble well and fall hard, despite the fact that in most cases you can just hope for her. Many may disagree with me, but this is my personal opinion. I wish everyone more patience! And of course good luck, because there is never too much of it!

Even if you do everything right, sometimes you will just lose. Best to understand, accept and keep moving on!

At a minimum, this is waiting and patience in different situations, and sometimes it can be given a little from chess and poker to think ahead

The way you posed this question should be reversed, to me, what you learn in life should be applied to poker, poker is not life, life is not poker, but the lessons you learn in life should help you avoid certain situations at the poker table, on-line or in person,

Practically speaking pragmatically hearing suspiciously watching is easier in person, but several personality traits arise on-line, just very difficult to apply the same decisions as possible in person as you would on-line.

Never take more than you can afford to the poker room, leave your debit/credit card at home (not hidden in the car), only play tables and games you can afford to play (don't try to play with the big boys, unless you just want to say f it), stay away from lines of credit (they break legs for those that don't pay).

All applies to on-line deposits, make one time deposits without credit card, stay away from the casino games (unless you have money to risk), play low stakes and build a bank or keep losses to a minimum, stay away from cash games (never trust them), play MTT if you have the patience, stay away from rebuy games (unless low stakes).

On-line poker just seems too easy to manipulate and be manipulated by the random card generators (what if there is a black web site that sells generators that control the cards), with the technology out there to hack servers and even if a site is secured (what if the hacker sold the security and has a back door), there are any number of possible ways to cheat on-line (and person, but at least you have eyes and ears).;):D:rolleyes::mad::(:)...ever notice these little smiley faces have no ears?:joyman:

Every single aspect of this game has real-life applications. From bankroll management to emotional management, to basic principles, everything applies to daily life, actions and situations.

Real-life is also a game we are all playing and strategies and tactics apply to it. Weather you win, lose or break-even in life, relates exactly to every action you are taking at every step in your life. Checking, calling, raising, bluffing, fold, we all do it all day everyday.

A bad river can happen to any of us, a bad raise can cripple our well-being. Bad actions or bad habits cripple a little bit of our health every day. Bad time or money management, cripple us. However a good call or a good fold can bring us profit, either emotionally, financially, personally, physically or healthwise.

What about an all in? Would you? Before doing some proper research and being a good percentage certain that's a good action? I did and I lost, several times. My fault though, I should've done more research before making a decision. I will do it again but with better bankroll management.

Is marriage a worthy risk? Would you go all in? Should you be ready to fold if "turn" is as bad as the flop or do you go to showdown?

Is a job worth going all in? Or should you just go with a cheap call with backup options. Are you even in the right tournament? Do you wanna play it? Are you game?

Food for thought.

Patience and discipline help your approach.

Don't react to situations emotionally.

Just because you lost, didn't mean you were wrong.

Just because you won, didn't mean you were right.

Life is not always fair and just, but making the correct decisions will win out in the long run.
