I usually stop playing when I am either tired or bored. I consider tilt to be playing anything lower than your optimal game, so once I'm making mistakes due to tiredness, I stop.

But above all, when I stop enjoying it, I will not register any further tournaments. Taking the regular breaks at MTTs really helps too. I always get up, walk around and have something to eat/drink. This renergises me, so when I come back, it feels like I'm coming to the table virtual felt for the first time.

It's always good to take a break, distract yourself, and come back. Everybody needs not to think so much as poker requires a lot of that haha. In my case, when I stop I listen to music, I go out, I enjoy the outdoors, I play lol, etc.

When I first started playing poker, I played too much. I really didn't do anything else but play poker. I missed out on being with girlfriend, in the beginning. Then I had to make a change, needed to put priorities first. Family is number 1 then poker, but that's why me and girlfriend split up. Then I met wife and had kids, they needed to come first , before any poker. I got my priorities straight and now will always be that way.

Oh. How poker is closely intertwined with the emotional state ))) Proof once again that this is a very multifaceted game.

Yes. Concentration drops over time. It is better not to play immediately after sleep. And after the accumulation of fatigue. But it's hard to control. You need to learn discipline.

For me, poker is entertainment, so there is not much of it. I would like to make money with poker.

When is enoughs enoughs...when is it break time when do you walk away.and yes when do u run...inotice that I play my best when I first start playing for the day and as I progress through the day I get looser and at theendof a10 hour session I'm seeing almost every hand without realizing..thinking I'll just out play him after the flop knowing that there seen a lot my tricks for the last few hours and are catching on to me
i have a very stupid question because i'm reading your contribution and i'm not sure what should understand. Is your question about whether you leave a tournament if you have been played for 10 hours and lose your focus or if you play at all after 10 hours. Because there is a difference I think. If you go to a tournament that lasts so long, then there is no giving up and then you fight to the end. Only the preparation should then be good. make sure that you have food and drink ready or get nuts and raisins if you like something that is also called student food it stimulates concentration and helps you concentrate better. Of course if you are allergic to something then you should Do not eat. But if it's not just a tournament then it's easy to take a break between tournaments or whatever else you play. I know the temptation is sometimes great to just jump from one to the other but take the time for a short break. And then do something that has nothing to do with poker, but maybe read a book about poker, but sometimes it's just better that you can switch off a little and do something completely different

With me it's already the opposite when I'm tired, it only diminishes the quality of my poker.

OP you obviously know by the end of your 10-hour session that you should have stopped a while ago, given that your concentration gives out and your play gets worse. Maybe set yourself a little alarm to go off every couple of hours - it can be your cue to evaluate how you are feeling and whether it's time to take a break from the tables before bad habits start to set in?

Maybe ask this guy for some tips? He seems to know his limits ;)

I practice poker everyday but I definitely don't gamble everyday. I have a job and work almost everyday. So when I get a chance I'll run like a 30 min or hour long type session.

The beautiful thing about online poker is that you can make so much money just from a part time schedule. So I play when I can but outside of poker I have a job plus I gotta workout and stay healthy.

Never too much!!!!!

That's my main thing to do - probably i play poker online more than i sleep.

And i don't have much problem with the 10-14 (sometimes more) hours sessions. Often a terrible start of the day compensates, turns great just in the last 0,5-1 hour...

I think my longest in a row 10+ hours sessions was nearly 2 months, without a day off...

Much better than any slavery "job" for life shortening, nothing...

As you get better at poker you tend to make more final tables. I fight hard to get to these, and make quite a few, so playing poker is time consuming for me.:)

I think a couple of conflicting ideas are being discussed here.

Some time ago I started a thread about duration of play and results, based off listening to Olivier Busquet admit that he now seldom played a session of more than 3 hours. He realized his concentration dramatically dropped after that amount of playing. It made me realize the same thing happen to me.

Then in the informal poll/posts which followed pretty much everyone agreed. Of course we all still play longer sessions by necessity when we run deep...

But then the issue of daily play is something else, and I still try to play a little poker everyday if feasible

I'm not exaggerating with poker. When I can't play anymore I don't play anymore I don't have to exaggerate.

I play poker when I’m in the mood, when I’m not in the mood I don’t play, it’s all that simple. "Too much" and "poker" are incomprehensible in one sentence, because there is no such thing as too much poker for me (but I don't overdo it ;) ).
