I'd either say a crappy player or someone new to the game. I don't like to call anyone a crappy player, seems kinda harsh.

When I go to the casino, I do see players and can tell quite quickly they are a fish, or in other words they seem to be there to have fun and try new things more than being there to win their money.

You should notice a lot of players or fish who are from out of town or whatever. I am a newb and I could tell, so who knows what you pro's can see about me.. :)

I'm a fish.

Basically a player who gets it in bad every single time against you and YOU always end up losing.

my opponent: "you're such a fish"

me: "yes I am:D "

Big fish eat the littler fish, sharks eat all fish. Just a word used to describe who will be eaten and who does the eating.

Donkey is a mean name that a player calls another player for deliberately playing a hand badly, regardless of winning or losing. While a step below a fish, rest assured, a donkey is truly far worse than a fish.

So if you are called a donk, it is ment to be offensive

"Fish" in my opinion is related to the sport of fishing. I mean baiting, hooking and reeling in the catch. That's what you do, right?
"Donkeys" are notoriously stubborn and sometimes aggressive. They kick!
As for the "sharks", they eat plenty of fish and are very difficult to catch!

A fish is someone who does not really know how to play poker well. Usually, the fish loses a big amount of money because he/she would call you with anything or was not able to play the hand well. Be careful because when the fish hits something, it is hard to make them fold. Sometimes, they would call you with anything. Fish can sometimes be easily outplayed. Fishes can easily be spotted after playing a few hands with them. Also, fishes would sometimes rely solely on luck and would not really care how he/she has played a hand in poker. There are different kinds of fishes out there. Once you spot them, you have to know how he/she plays because they usually have just one playing style. A fish is also weak when it comes to bluffing and you can also easily see the tells they are showing.[1]

Fish plays with strategy : Call, call, call. Fish never raises, unless he/she has A-A or K-K when he/she puts all in.

Most 'fish' are the providers of money, but also a nuisance. Certainly for many annoying are bad beats, then we use that term probably from nerves. They also determine the players 'fish' who play with Any2 preflop :D

Fish is a term for a weak player who plays almost any hand preflop.Even on the post flop also fish always tend to call any bet or raise against him even until he saw the river. What a big mistake IMO.

Fish , mean they are losing players , which is easy to "catch" playing with a bad hand with a better hand ! That is my opinion , greetings !

Fish are generally loose-passive players. They're quite willing to call with mediocre/bad hands, but they're unlikely to raise or bet. These are the best players to play against as the correct strategy against them is to simply wait for a good hand and bet/bet/bet. If they raise you, you just happily fold.

Personally, i think FISH means someyone who calls a lot aka callingstation.Since this style is not profitable in long term is easy to say opposite - its the losing style. So you want a calling station to play against.

This player is involved in too many hands , but it is usually passive . They keep their mediocre hands too long in big pots. This player is the big loser , because not only money pile poor , but because they never committed to value their important hands. It becomes very easy to play with someone who matches a lot and only bets with good hands .

Fish

Well haven't we all played like "fish" at some point in our play? I know I have and sometimes I do it to deliberately mess with the competition. lol Not saying I'm a great player or that I know all about odds other than simple ones, but I do know that AK is a way better hand to raise or call with than 7/2. I do agree with anyone who says a fish is one who doesn't know the game well, isn't playing to really win and is not a serious poker player that plays because he/she loves the game and wants to better their play. I also agree that "fish" are great to have when trying to earn a living at poker. So if you see me on your table, I may play like a fish or not, depending on my mood. lol

I thonk that "fish" is just a common word in poker community. It's not always a new or extremly bad players. Fish can be even professional poker player whith big winnings and even some titles.

Yes and no

Back in the old times, as I heard, to grind the poker as a pro was called to fish. That obviously meant trying to catch less-skilled players' money. Of course when you are fishing you have to have some fishes in the pond. In that logic fish is a player tending to be in loss for a long range, no matter which style he plays.
