I think that in every country there are good players and bad players. Obviously in Russia online poker is experiencing growing popularity lately and there are many players who think that earning big money for small time is easy in this game. Their underestimation of the game difficulty combined with overestimation of their capabilities and expectations for quick money makes them play strange and they become aggressive when their goals are not met. This is something that is normal in every country which starts to experience the poker fever if i can say it this way. I have seen it in Bulgaria also long time ago. Considering that Russia is a big country with many residents it is normal to see relatively big wave of such players in the freerolls. I personally am not mad at them. At the end most of them will get out of the game when they see that there is no easy money as they thought and the other will try to improve their game. Same can be said about brasil and other big countries experiencing the poker fever.

My advice is - let them play. There is place for everybody in the sea no matter fish or sharks but we definitely do not need only sharks. :)

Oh there is no need to shout that all fishy with Russia .I myself am from Russia and ride very adequately , in each country there is a fish. It depends on the person and not on the country in which he lives . And the aggression from the Russian players comes from the low wages on the basis of which demolishes the tower )

In my beginnings of online poker I have danced a lot of game Russian and Brazilian players, however I see with admiration and I have learned from them, here in CC I even have friendship with great and good players. Remember a famous phrase "It's not the cards, it's the player and the way he plays them"

I think there are many Russian poker players of excellent calibre. I have heard that they have a reputation for collusion. But, you know, I do not really go along with statements like that without proof. The Russian, Canadian, Brazilian and United Kingdom players truly offer some of the best playing moments I have had online.

I am going to say now, and please take it as gospel, that I play online as a way of practising for live events. I do things online that I would never do at the casino or with some of my poker playing friends. Now, I know there is a lot of differences between online and live playing, but that does not really matter to me.

What matters to me is how the other players play against me.

Particularly, and I will keep this to the Russians, I find they are pretty gutsy with their bluffs. I find at times that they are pretty fast to go all-in pre-flop to scare off their opponents, and often they aggressively try to steal the pot at the flop.

I find also that they are pretty good slow players when they want to be. By this I mean that they often will allow others to build up the pot while they are sitting back and holding high pairs which they do not show until the river.

And, often, of course, this style of play, chancy or whatever, allows them to walk off with the chips in the pot. In other words the Russians, not all of them, but some are fairly well-rounded players who mix up their playing style.

Playing against the Russians can be quite interesting. Call their bluffs at your own risk online because, while there are some tells, it is not the same as playing live where the reads are far more visual. It is the same when the Russians try to take the pot at the flop. Is it a bluff or does the opponent really have something? I have seen it go both ways many times. I like how the Russians mix it up.

So that is my take on Russian players. Some can be pretty damn interesting and enjoyable to play with. Are they better than Canadian, Brazilian and United Kingdom players? At times, yeah, they can be. But, in the end, I think it all evens out online because, let's face it. There are some pretty damn good players from those other countries too.

And, that, more than anything else, is what I want online. Like I said, what matters to me is how the other players play against me. I like it lively. I like it real. I like the practise.

To say that they are maniacs and Fish to play is no insult !!

"Maniacs" and "fishes" isnt insulting in any cases! Thats poker terms used to describe type of poker player or poker player style. Term "inadequately" isnt use for this! So, me personally cant find how he insult someone here.

I damn hope not, I am the captain of the "Maniacs".......I guess I need to keep an eye out and make sure I don't except anyone into the league, who might not like being called a "Maniac"

Why are players from Russia suddenly so interesting? Russophobia is sweeping across the poker forums? No more topics to discuss? We have normal players-some are better, some are worse than Americans-everything in the world is relative! That's the only thing to know when asking such stupid questions!

Hi.
Among the Russian players there are a lot of very many very strong players, and this is especially noticeable in online games. You need to be very attentive when playing poker at a table with Russian players.
Good luck.

It makes no difference what country

To be honest, there are fish everywhere and often when you least expect it..

I love weak fish..let them play, they provide me with bounties and prize money.

I think it is unfair to just aim this at one country. Its just maths that Russia floods the markets due to its size and popularity of poker in that country :)

Russians are divided into categories - it all depends on which tournaments they are used to playing. The sng are real maniacs.

Yes, Russophobia here, Russophobia there, Russophobia everywhere :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: If you payed any attention at all, you would have noticed that this thread was started by a Russian member. One is fishing for compliments, another one is jumping and blaming others without reading the original post. Smart.

Are not bad Russian players, here on CC very good, it may seem to some gamers that there are many Russian players in the poker stars (mostly), but the fact is that there are no francs, spain, italy player, and also no player from USA, and because It seems that the Russian player has too much.

A lot of people from Russia on the PS. So the number of new players like me and experienced players does not differ much. Probably...

I don't have an opinion of Russian players as a whole but I will say that Nikita/Mikita Badziakouski made a heck of a showing a the SHRB this week.

I thought it was interesting that he became less stoic at the final table. Relaxed after making the final table? Fatigue? Not sure, but there was definitely a change.

To give an opinion about players from Russia, it should be taken into account in what level we are participating with them, if they are low and medium snow, by my expereince, in my opinion they must have two fundamental things: either they have a lot of money or they just play for fun, because I've seen crazy moves, like going all in before a for bet, with hand like 72 etc. That is to say that they are manic players, and the bad thing that most of the times destroy our best hands.:mad:

For me, all the players are normal for the game and from other countries, too, just everyone plays differently, I noticed that if the tournament is free, then they play almost everything like fish, and so do not think about other players badly or well, just need to play and enjoy games and money if you can win!

I wonder if there is a difference between the players from the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Belarus and so on. Or do all the players from the former Soviet Union count as Russians? :)

Are there any differences in the style of the game?

For me it does not matter who is from which country, but there are many evil and rude players from Russia who indecently swear with each other.

I think they play poker like all of us, are more aggressive in their strategies, some win, and some of them lose, this in poker is more than normal
