What draws you to a poker stream on Twitch? Is it the player themselves? Do you already know who they are before going to their channel?

What would draw you to a poker Twitch stream by a streamer that you might not know of? Is it their personality or a theme or gimmick they might use on stream? Prizes?

I'm genuinely curious. I've streamed in the past and I watch a few poker streamers from time to time. I just want to know what is it that draws you to their streams. Obviously, you are a poker fan, whether you enjoy watching or playing, or both. What else?

Personally I prefer YouTube content over twitch because I can either search for a specific topic to improve my game or follow VoDs or live action for pure entertainment.

I can see why others enjoy twitch streams but I prefer playing myself over watching someone play online.
Might also be an age thing, I guess twitch content is much more popular in younger age groups ;)

I sometimes watch streams when I watch them, I like the streamer's good mood when the streamer is sociable, and yes, I also like the streamer's prizes

I watch streams on YouTube and Twitch. Personally, I am interested in streamers who not only play but also give various tips and lessons to viewers. It improves my game. I also like it when streamers interact with viewers in some way, play with them together or organize cool lotteries. But the main thing, of course, is that streams are a reason to improve your poker game

For me it's a mixture of personality traits and knowledge in the art of poker.
First impression is also important. For example Inwas curious about a twitch streamer who is an expert in microstakes MTT.
Micro and Low are the only buy ins I play online that seemed worth a try watching. Calls himself TheBoski. I think he's a quite able player and he nailed the first impression for me.
Thirst thing I hear when I open the stream for the first time I hear Vivaldi :D I grew up with classical music cause of the job of my father at that time.
Also enjoy hearing it while playing poker that and pagan metal 🤣

Bottom line
I think it's about authenticity and knowledge of the streamer. You won't be liked by everybody but if know what you're talking about and a have a friendly attitude and maybe humour you will get many viewers. Just my opinion on the matter

I also follow streamers that interact with their viewers and explain some of their plays... I also like when the streamer tries to create a 'community'- maybe some low buy-in games played weekly/ monthly with loyal members etc. to keep viewers involved... Charisma isn't important in my case(might be an important factor though), I also don't care if they're not 'famous' players, still I expect the streamer to be a decent poker player and not just push buttons...

it depends, most of the ones I don't know, I watch the first time for the prizes. But I only keep watching if there's entertainment. Some follow just for empathy.

I started watching poker stream on Twitch when ACR started their special streamers freerolls. A couple of 888poker pro players also offers special freerolls for their twitch followers. But I only continue to follow 4-5 players, because I had fun watching them. They have a likable personality and it's nice to watch them. My main reason to watch is not to learn about poker, but to have a good time.

I like streamers that explain their play. Why did they raise, fold. If they play a lot of different casinos and relatable tables (lower limits) I find them more entertaining.

Again, thank you all for your insight! I'm jotting down notes in case I decide to stream poker again. I stream PC gaming every now and then currently.

I like to watch streams of people who are fun even if they lose because of their opponent's luck, they are happy and continue to play. Sometimes they tell me why they play this hand and why they don't play the hand share their thoughts talk about their lives and their country while playing poker

Everything is simple. Sometimes it's better to learn from other people's mistakes, especially at higher stakes

I think it requires one (helps to have more than one) of the following for most streamers (Not just poker streamers)

1.) to be extremely skilled - Jermiah Williams is currently #1 as I type this and he's playing up to $50/$100
2.) to be extremely entertaining - Think of someone like Dr Disrespect
3.) to be extremely attractive - Think of someone like Dr Disrespect
4.) To have a stream people can relate to
5.) To have a story line/Goal people can follow - Great for retaining viewers
6.) Be consistent. - You'll need to log in a lot of hours on stream
7.) Build a community.

I think #4 & #5 can be used together to build a stream for poker. People in poker want to know if things like bankroll building is possible and therefore want to see it done and they can relate to wanting to grind up the stakes with a small deposit. It also creates a story line from stream to stream to follow along with instead of just endless hours of grinding.

Also, have you considered investing in a hot tub?

I can do the story line, and I can be entertaining. I've streamed consistently before, and have made a little bit of money at Twitch before (and also thanks to my Twitch community, we raised $1000 for a local animal shelter in 2021). So, although I don't have the attractiveness or skilled part down... I, at least, have those, lol.

And I can (hopefully) build a community. I have a small gaming community already, thanks to Twitch, and have been talking to them about this possible change, too. They seem to be behind me. When I was getting my groove going on Twitch, I actually streamed more poker then.

I'm working on a gameplan to use my "MortisTheSaurus" theme, and move it into a poker theme with a mascot, kind of. Getting some new backgrounds, emotes, and such.

And I know you're joking about the the hot tub thing... but yes, I had actually considered it, and joked with that idea with some friends. Fully clothed hot tub stream playing poker... I'm down lol.

You have the CC community too. :p

Are you planning on going the short delay route or the no hole card route?

I sometimes watch streams just to get experienced about their calls of folds at live tables.

Does anyone know if there are any videos of an online player who posts his/her tournament from start to finish?

Be V interesting to see how they played their hands 🙂

I would go with the no hole card route, because I want to be able to chat with my chat in real time. I'm not a big fan of the delay, because the chat interaction isn't so good in those because of the delay. I'd also want to playing some chat interaction games, that would be needed in real time. Stuff like Stream Raiders, maybe.
