I'm surprised Casino Royale didn't go the whole nine yards and give him a royal flush :p, but it probably woulda been a scary board if they did... everyone might not have wanted to go all in!

Lucky you is the best recent film that centres around poker imo. A great cast and the poker scenes are good with many pros featured like Negreanu, Farha, Greenstein, Harman. (best of all - it doesnt spoon feed you like casino royale).

Still had an unrealistic poker hand ... I forget what the son has, but his Dad makes the straight flush to beat him :/ to win the ring.

I've played online for ~3 years and only had 2 or 3 straight flushes in thousands and thousands of hands

Not to mention the dumb last scene, laying down AA :D

The most realiistic part of the movie was the very negative vibe that came off it, which is what I personally perceive from professional poker. I just play for fun, and only in freerolls / low stakes. But this could be a whole new thread :D

Casino Royal like said before is a great Bond movie..... just lacks in poker. I understand the concept and like the idea of a high stakes action game, but hey, they did what they could to make it interesting!

Lucky You was an alright movie...... nice poker action, good ups and downs of a poker playing in the making!

Rounders is a classic... how can you go wrong with Matt Damon and Edward Norton!

I also like The Cincinnati Kid... Oldie but goodie! You feel bad for the guy, but it goes to prove, some people think they are better than they really are!

The thing about Lucky You that I at least respected was when the dad made his straight flush at the final table, they made a big deal about how rare it was.

For the most part I thought the poker action was pretty good in that movie. It'd want to be too - they got Doyle Brunson to consult on it.

Here is a hoe-key "B" movie about a lost gold mine with a backroom poker game scene that starts it all off:
"Wanda Nevada" , 1979
Peter Fonda and a very young Brooke Sheilds

Please don't hold it against me if you watch it; I admit to seeing it twice, lmao.
TY all for all these movies mentioned. I scored "The Grand" for a $1 on DVD at a flea market, TY all VM .

Why?

It IS a rare event.

... Maybe not, if you're playing 20 tables / 20 hours a day / 7 days / week  :D
